Started for me after reading T Colin Campbell’s “China Study”, amazing it’s taken so long and still isn’t mainstream, despite all the evidence.

It is mainstream. It's been mainstream for decades. It's one of the reasons so many of us are vegan. Humans just have a tendency towards being destructive and self-destructive. Just like climate change is mainstream, but no real effort is being made to combat it. Once you get to a certain age, you just lose hope for humanity and feel better about it :)

There are peer reviewed studies about plant based diet reducing the risk for prostate problems, colon cancer, etc... Both from my mom and dad's side men had prostate issues by the time they were my age. My grandfather had colon cancer. I've been vegan for 13 years and vegetarian 10 years before that. In perfect health at 40, feeling 25.

So I went to see a specialist recently at a magnet hospital. I said I wanted my drugs from the Farmacy and not the Pharmacy. Thud. I was told they don't do that, that I had to see somebody else. I asked for a referral and no, they couldn't provide it. Then they accused me of being impolite when I said I would listen to their Dx, but do my own Rx. Arthur Schopenhauer was right when he spoke of the three phases of change: ridicule, opposition, then acceptance. Sadly, the medical community just isn't there yet, save for a very few early adopters.

Even with such strong data, many people will refuse to consider it because they are afraid to change their lifestyle due to prior beliefs, social pressure or fear of change, for example. This is tragic not only for human health, but of course for the animals used for their flesh and secretions.

Fear kills everything. The devil loves people who fear. It is not of God! We were not created to fear! That's a human fabrication. Those that fear are not informed. Get informed. Fear not! 🙏

The reason this diet helps us today isn’t because of plant based diet but because of the elimination of gluten wheat and flours used back in the 50’s when toxic chemicals were put in our food , during a recession that we were in. Our government allowed these chemicals to increase production and get us out of debt we were in. It was only supposed be for a short time since they knew how toxic these chemicals were for us. They knew what they needed to do if people became sick or died from this chemical, since a “gluten free diet”was born. All the new diets that we hear about today are working from the age old advice to eliminate gluten. We are still using the same antidote. But nobody wants to say that we were all along being poisoned.

I mistakenly followed Ornish's fashionable advice till I could no longer kid myself - my diabetes was not being controlled by his diet. Wish we'd never met!

This is about heart disease.. I don't think anybody 's medical advice would be fashionable or not fashionable so that part I don't understand. But what works for one person may not work for another.. If you don't like the advice of someone, does that mean you need to have never met them? That's kind of a curious thing

@@helloitsme7983 The problem as I see it is not that one size does not fit all, it's that zealots on both sides of the vegans vs. carnivores holy war (including Ornish) act like their religion is the only way, for everyone. As one earnest nutrition scholar put it, "dogma has no place in empirical science." Scientists will at least try to view their own data and theories with skepticism, whereas zealots can't be trusted to look at any data with an open mind.

@@tomgoff7887 Tom - Thanks for your question. Unless Ornish has changed his approach since I stopped following him, he does not advocate 1 best diet for heart disease, 1 best diet for diabetes, etc., but rather one best diet. Does he now recommend different diets for different conditions, genetic characteristics, etc.?

@@memonk11 The relevant studies are published in reputable scientific journals. Harvard also seem to think that low fat diets like Ornish diet can reverse heart disease ("Ask the doctor: Is it possible to reverse coronary artery disease?"). I'm not sure why you think your opinion is superior to the scientific evidence on this matter.
