On vacation, I met a nice lady who makes hats for charity. She boasted that she could knit a hat in just a couple evenings. So can I, but my MK hats are beautiful, and I can knit a PILE of hats in a couple evenings. It's not so soothing as kicking back with my knitting needles, but I get to make more items, try out more ideas, and do fancier stitches. Can you imagine counting out the reversible double jacquard for this scarf while hand-knitting? Of course you could, but I think you might decide to make a potholder instead of a scarf.

Wow, kismet! I just spent this winter trying to figure out how to do this exact thing on my standard punchcard machine (setting up the cards is pretty tricky) but with the help of your videos and others I got the birdseye double-jacquard, but no one, until now, showed this double-reversible jacquard. I love the fabric that results, so thick. I did find that it was easier to see the patten in the needles and to select the appropriate neddle, if the ribber is set to full-pitch, just remember to switch it back before doing anything else! I love your videos, and your voice (so sweet and soothing, calming), keep up the good work!

This actually seems quite fast and easy compared to, say, hand-manipulating stitches to make ribs. Thank you for the very clear illustration.

Honest- once you get the hang of "seeing" which needles to pull out on the ribber, it's easy. You do need to tkae time to check your work. The hardest part is trying out all sorts of patterns to see what you like best!

Normally I am not a double jacquard knitter,I don't like how the stiches looks, but this has changed my mind I will clean my ribber and try.You inspire us all thanks for all your videos

Perhaps the double jacquard that you don't like is tucked DJ. You might like to try slipped DJ, which gives a more natural looking stitch. This is a variation of slipped DJ. Tucked is nice for getting width, but it gives a spread-out effect and has more background color showing through.

Diana, can i ask you a couple of questions? I have 950i, is it the same way on that model? Also, when you go from left to right, do you still choose the ribber needles on the right of the main bed needles or you have to change to the left? Thank you!

I haven't seen a 950 in a few years, but if it has a double jacquard key it will work. The needles to match up each row are on the right no matter which direction the carriage is going.

Yes. You need to use a card punched for reversible double jacquard. The color changer book has instructions on how to figure that out and punch it.. The color changers also came with a new reversible DJ punch cards already made. You can't use an ordinary Fair Isle punch card.

Yes. You will need a punch card designed for double jacquard knitting.

My friend and I just did this on a Brother KH-260 using a punch card we created in a double jacquard format. We loved the results. We really love the edge from the circular cast on. We had not used that before. Question: what cast off do you use to match the edge from the circular cast on?

A "smiles and frowns" bind-off. Pull down enough yarn for sewing and cut. Thread a contrasting yarn. Set for circular knitting. Take off the machine, roll the circular rows out of the way, and hand-sew the "smiles and frowns." I have videos about that bind-off.

It is a KRC 900, a double bed color changer that fits the Brother 270 (and other machines, too).

Hi, Linda! I really don't know if the stitch pattern numbers are the same. I think the 950 is a different Stitch World. I actually like patterns with a lot of background the best for this, but experiment.

@@bikrgran This technique works with any machine that pops selected needles into D. It's a pay-attention kind of job, and a scarf takes a long time. It is really good for a border.

You must use a pattern created for double jacquard. Your machine has a variation you can set for double jacquard. The instructions for double jacquard start on page 154 in your manual. Do DJ first and then try this technique again.
