Physicians who are open minded enough and humble enough to change their mindset once they see improvement in a patient, even if the road to that improvement is the result of the patient not taking the most orthodox path to get there, deserves our respect. Dr. Bhakti Paul's willingness to look at a patient's improvement, and change her perspective on how to approach type 2 diabetes, is emblematic of a mindset that more doctors should adopt.

When I told my endocrinologist what I ate and I took more salt, he got furious with me ( absolutely became red in the face) and told me not to come back. He told me it would raise my blood pressure. This was even though I was off 4 medications for BP elevation and it as normal. I didn’t even understand what his point was.

As a patient, when first diagnosed with T2 Diabetes, all I heard was that this would result in needing to take away a bunch of foods that I was used to eating. For a short time, I really thought to myself, how would life be worth living if you have to take away all this good stuff? When I found Carnivore and realized that I could eat many of the foods I did like, steak, chicken, pork, etc, that I loved all my life, I changed my view to one that I got to eat many of the foods that traditionally were restricted. That perception of how one will live is very powerful. I really think that approach of what can you eat instead of what can't you eat makes a difference.

Dr. Paul is my hero!!! I've been working with Dr. Paul for 3 months, and my A1c has dropped by 1.4 points. The CGM has made all the difference in helping me understand what foods most negatively impact my blood sugar. I discovered my enemy is grains more than sugar. I'm a data nerd, and being able to see how long I'm staying in target, what my average glucose is, what makes my blood sugar skyrocket gives me the information I need to make well-informed decisions. I would have to be pricking my finger 15 times a day to get the information I gain from the CGM. Dr. Paul has changed my life, and I am confident within the next six months, I will be in the 5's and on my way to reversing diabetes.

So spot on. I started Keto with no knowledge but persistently scoured the internet and stumbled on the low carb down under algorithms which brought me to the many informative videos, this one included. I found use of metformin to throw me in to low glucose events when used as directed. My diabetic nurse seing my health journal and how many times I was using my glucometer set me up with my first CGM. I never looked back. After six months, I was fortunate to find a Dr who is now working with me as I move toward a sustainable metabolic health lifestyle. A 1 c when diagnosed was 7.5 mmol/ l after 4 months was 5.2 mmol/l . Canadian units of measurement. At 8 months my weight has dropped from 270 lb to 190 lb. My desire to seek out a Coach / Physican was to get guidance and assurance with nutritional choices. I do keep my protein in the 1.6 g/ kg based on what my BMI would rate me as an ideal weight. Thanks for this informative guest. I think I got an A+ scoring myself on this information.

I have a PCP who is like this doctor. But the board looks over their shoulder. She has to ask us to do things that are not a good treatment plan. I refuse and then we can go on to a GOOD plan B. I think new doctors would love to learn more of diet, relationships with patients, and more.

My Aic is now in the 5.4-5.7 range. I am now starting to focus on a range of "Blood Sugar Numbers" instead of obsessing over a static number. A newly diagnosed type2 in 2006, I was immediately treated with Insulin. I didn’t know any better. I was treated by an Endocrinologist who had a nurse practitioner. I found out later, she had included me in a study of closely controlled blood sugars . I would calculate how much insulin to take based on grams of carbs,ie 5 units per 15 grams of carbs. This kept my A1C about 6.8. I’m furious to have learned I was never given a lifestyle choice. I fact I was counsel by ADA to consume 240 grams per day: 60 at three meals and 30 each for two snacks. Bad “medical” advice or Treatment. For 10 years now I can’t get a doc to support low carb or keto lifestyle.

If we take low carb diet then our body takes energy from fat.... is it effects liver and gallbladder for adiabatic and how much minimum carbs should take a diabetic person ? Is strict diet good for a diabetic patient?
@fusedchromosome93502 жыл бұрын
Keeping carbs low is best for diabetics. It allows the body to recover from insulin resistance and reverses a multitude of problems. It can take a few weeks for the body to adapt to low carb so be sure to increase electrolytes to avoid feeling tired and sluggish. Most diabetics can reverse in a matter of months. Healthy fats and protein are your friends. Carbs are not essential but are ok in moderation as long as they come from whole natural foods. Nothing processed and it’s best to avoid grains. Stick to vegetables and small amounts of berries like strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, blueberry. No tropical fruit. fructose is hard on the liver like alcohol. You’ll feel so much better even before any noticeable weight loss. Also, lowering carbs will minimize or negate the need for diabetes medication. Best to let your doctor know you are cutting down on carbs though many doctors still push carbs as essential which is patently false. Your liver manufactures glucose quite effectively from fat.

Why most doctors arent this involved with their patients is because they just want to get paid without having to actually do any work. This is the problem with most people not just doctors, no one takes pride in their work or really care.

A monitor that keeps track of your sugar
@juliannelusvardi2912 Жыл бұрын
It stands for a continuous glucose monitor that sincs with your I phone. You wear the small device on your arm. You apply it and a small fishline type 2 inch fiber slips just under your skin. It picks up your blood sugar numbers and you view it on a app on your phone.

Why add back carbs? Why give dangerous drugs (unless the patient is non compliant)? Goal should be to become a fat adapted fat burner. I have controlled my T2D for 24 years this way on a keto diet. It saved my future.

Folks still aren't sold on the beneficial properties of eating low carb and just how much it could help. Folks just don't want to give up eating junk food and would rather take a pill and keep eating garbage.

All the information can be presented in 5minutes. Nothing about medications except insulin. Nothing about what causes insulin resistance and exactly how to reverse it.

Do traditional yoga and asanas. Do Supta Vajrasan for diabetes especially. It stimulates the cells in the pancreas and control the insulin levels and also help in regeneration of the cells.
