I believe there is a type of jellyfish that can live forever as they can revert themselves back to a juvenile state
@Ryodraco2 ай бұрын
This is often misrepresented though. What the immortal jellyfish does is revert to the polyp stage, then bud off a bunch of clone medusa stage individuals. Thus the question becomes are any of them the same jellyfish individual, and if so which one?

21:40 Crocodiles do die of old age. However, they rarely live long enough for that to happen before illness or predators kill them. All vertebrates die of old age. Some invertebrates, like lobster, don’t die of old age specifically, but the larger they are the harder it is to molt and they eventually stop molting an are crushed in their shell.
@Walker_963652 ай бұрын
24:03 Greenland shark live a long time due to their slow existence. The more a cell divides, the more difficult it is for the daughter cell to divide. After enough cell division, they stop dividing effective, can’t repair normal damage, and the animal die of old age. Because Greenland sharks’ cells divide so slowly, it takes a long time for that to happen. The reason plants can live forever is because their cells don’t have this issue and can divide indefinitely if they remain healthy.

Insects need high levels of oxygen in the air to get big because their respiratory system is passive(their 'lung' doesn't expand or contract). Also, the square-qubed law means that most living things can't just be scaled up or down like that.
@Ryodraco2 ай бұрын
18:30 These days oxygen percentage is not thought to be the reason we don't have giant arthropods anymore. The famous giant millipede Arthropleura survived well into a time period where atmospheric oxygen was almost the same as in the modern world.

22:58 Thats depends on what you consider “old age” because organ failure can be due to age, but it can also be due to other factors like illness so its impossible to say what counts “old age” and what counts as illness.

I actually just finished the main story for this yesterday. I completely forgot they were even playing the remaster. I personally found the patterns kind of a pain to learn in this game, because it really does feel like you'll be hit with a curve ball out of nowhere. Not to mention the many monsters that only spam unaspected skills, so you can't even HtH them, and just have to eat the hit. Fortunately, I was able to outlevel the game by this point, (finished the game around level 50, monsties around 46+) so it didn't feel as punishing. I remember watching the original playthrough where they got walled by the EX Monsters, I never had any close calls with them, often times I would be like 'Oh, it's dead already?' That being said it has grown on me a little, Stories 2 definitely did feel very mindless as you were grinding late game since you just pressed one type of attack until they enraged or otherwise changed states, in which case you just pressed a different button until it died or changed again. I also hate how genes can only match slots for channeling in Stories 1. Honestly half my monsties don't have more than a handful of abilities and 1-2 bingos as a result. And the variety of eggs for each Monstie is just annoying, especially with so many being very similar in colour. I really hope Stories 3 brings the best of both games. I like the idea of more complex patterns for the Monsters, but I would like them to be slightly more learnable, even better is if they give some general advice in the Monsterpedia, kinda like what you get for the Velkhana fight in Stories 2, but obviously much simpler. Also, bring over the Rite of Chaneling changes from Stories 2, so building a team feels more fun. And please for the LOVE OF GOG BRING BACK QUICK FINISH! I'm planning to get all achievements which includes leveling a Monstie to 99, but levelling is so freaking slow in this game, really hoping later HR Monsters drop a ton of EXP, or I can reliably farm the HR Barrel Felynes somewhere. Adding new Monsties to the party feels like punishment, since they start at level 1, and take way too long to become viable, which I feel is going to be even more noticeable in HR. Basically have to keep Ratha in the party just to have someone who can win a fight. At least Quick Finish only factored in your Rider's Level, so you could have a low level team and just Quick Finish to get them up to speed.

Crocodiles are not immortal. There is however a type of jellyfish that is, and they keep them in research facilities to study how their cells renew themselves.
@Ryodraco2 ай бұрын
That's kind of immortal by technicality, i.e. the immortal jellyfish can revert to the polyp stage where it splits off into a bunch of new medusa stage individuals. But when it does this, which, if any, is the original jellyfish?

21:33 hate to break it to you guys but crocodilians do die of old age. One sign of an elderly crocodilian is that they cease to replace their teeth, though most die before they become fully toothless. They also don't grow throughout their lives, that's a belief that came about from studying young crocodilians. A 30 year study of alligators proved they stop growing a few decades after adulthood.

@@chiknight the part about the teeth yes, I added the comment before seeing the whole video, but where did they mention crocodilians don't grow throughout their lives? He said quite the opposite.
