CamoKevlar Hello! Why else the hatch as opposed to the Si? I am about to purchase a new Civic, literally in the next few hours, and I am completely torn. I prefer the two door coupe, but the hatch is pretty cool as well. I don't mind the 5-speed MT, but I do so much city driving the last time I had a MT I ended really disliking it.

The only thing that makes this a difficult choice is that the Si isn't available as a hatchback. Matter of fact, if you want a manual hatchback, you have to get either the base model or the Sport model (which is still just a base model interior and features with upgraded wheels and a body kit). It's almost like Honda is trying to push sporty hatchback buyers who would consider the Civic into Fords and VWs.

The hatchback is fun to drive, I've owned Civics from Year 92, 07, 12 and now the 2018 EX Hatchback, they are not Civic of the old with that I mean they're faster and have bigger 17" wheels and tires and lot smoother on the freeway, I test drove the sedan and the hatchback, the hatchback has better handling, it's a different Civic, I spend $80 a month for gasoline while our Honda Pilot 2013 uses $265 a month, I just got sick of that, 2 things that bug me with the Hb is the tires are too loud and there's no radio knob, brake hold is kind of stupid, Honda makes nice cars but they're so stingy adding splash guards at least, other than that this car is awesome, test drive both and let yourself decide, btw the hatchback cost about $500 to $600 more from the sedan.

Crx is a third the size of the new hatch. I wish the civics today weren't so big....I just sold my 91crx last summer and it was intimidating to test drive the newer civics because they felt like boats! Haha, so I got a 350z :) my spiritual successor to my crx...reasonably small two seater with a lift back.
@frf1670
@frf1670 7 жыл бұрын
Crystal Mc wait wuuuut? I don't know if you know anything about cars but 350zs are around 500-600 pounds heavier than the new civics. In reality 350z should feel much heavier and more boat-like than the civic... and honestly if you really wanted a light weight daily sports car you should've considered Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86 twins. Even lighter than the civic and handles much better than the 350z.

Crystal Mc Crystal Mc I actually drive a 2016 Subaru WRX STI so I'm pretty sure the 350z will eat its dust every time ;-). I did test drive a civic hatch recently and was impressed by how well it handles. To me it's a really small car comparing to all the mustangs, SUVs , trucks and family sedans on the road. It's a compact car after all, but hey 350z is pretty fun I assume. My friend has a 370z Nismo which i had fun with a while back. It's an amazing car.

Francis Fung, it annoys me that the civic gets bigger in every evolution...all cars do...ohh, so spacious they say. Thing is, today's civic is as big as the accord of the late 90s. I am nostalgic for Honda of the 90s...it's just not the same animal anymore. They are nice of course, but not exceptional anymore
@exionem

Being an owner of 80s,90s and 00s civics and accords I wholeheartedly agree. The new Civic is the size of my full sedan 1994 Accord. They´re getting way TOO big for a "compact" car.

Tuan H don't buy the coupe. The coupe is a whole lot less sporty and comfortable than the hatchback. I regret everyday on my decision of getting a 2016 civic coupe touring instead of waiting for the 2017 hatch sport touring after I test drove a 2017 hatch.
@tuanh5319
@tuanh5319 7 жыл бұрын
Really? That's odd since I thought the coupe shoudl be sportier. If I get the coupe, it would probably be the SI. Imo everyones different but for me I can't go wrong with either car. They both look good. Im leaning more towards the coupe though because of the wrap around taillights which I have been pushing car manufacturers to implement into their cars. I want the coupe because its a new representation of car lighting. The hatch should have the wrap around taillights but as you can see they cut corners.
@frf1670
@frf1670 7 жыл бұрын
Tuan H they didn't cut corners since this is designed for European market primarily. The coupe looks sportier but in reality the hatchback has a much better ride with a better suspension setup and reduces a lot of body roll comparing to the coupe. It handles better than the coupe for sure. And the exhaust tips and wheels on the sport/sport touring hatch make it looks much better than the coupe. So yeah get the Si if you really want the coupe looks and performance at the same time because the regular coupe sucks.
@tuanh5319
@tuanh5319 7 жыл бұрын
They cut corners because to have wrap around taillights requires more engineering. I watched the video where the designer for the coupe said that originally the taillights did not make it but he kept pushing for it.

LX always holds it value better than any Civic. Best model to buy if you keep your Civic 10 plus years. No point in getting higher trims that will be loaded with tech that will either break and/or become obsolete over those 10 plus years. They make them, but supply is incredibly low, and they're all stripped models. So far every single Civic Hatchback within 200 miles of my location has been sold before it hit the lot. Every Honda dealer around me is sitting on 100+ Civics and they're all automatics, aside from a couple of Si models (which they unfortunately don't make as a hatchback).

the cargo volume in sedan 15.1 cubic feet..and hatchback 26 cubic feet..thats not true...i come from europe..and here the honda say 472 liters for hatchback and 519 for sedan..so sedan has a bigger cargo volume..so..i went to a honda dealer to compare the both of these...in fact the hatchback have 420 liters and 52 liters extra..under..where is the place for reserve tire...and you in usa add extra cargo volume until rear window for hatchback..so you ger 26 cubic feet wich is around 750 liters...but sedan is only messured normal without place where is the resreve tire...if you add that...52 liters and 519 and if you load it until window..you get probabbly more cargo volume in the sedan...go to a dealer..compare it...and you will know...dont let everyone to make brainwash..check it by yourself....sorry my english is bad...its not my mother language...i only learn it in a school for couple of years

our new honda civic 2015, the back door is sticking out in the back on the right side, all door gaps are on even, many other problems, battery only lasting 30 month, trunk and hood couver the same thing, air conditioner gave out in 1 year, strasmission has got a long pause when it's cold, 4 shocks froze up, clunking under the car, alignment problem, handling like crap. HOW AND THE HELL CAN A HONDA BE THE BEST CAR ? NISSAN GAVE ME 5 OIL CHANGES, AND HONDA GAVE ME NOTHING, NISSAN GREASED THE WASHED IT CHECKED IT ALL OVE , DIDN'T CHARGE ME A CENT. NOW THAT WHAT I CALL SERVICE. AND NISSAN. YOU WOULD NEVER GET USE TO TAKE ANOTHER HONDA, IF WAS THE LAST CAR ON EARTH.

Great review, but please use less adjectives. As a customer I feel like you're trying too hard to sell the vehicle, almost trump like.

At least these asians didn't scam half the world by cheating emission tests.

and get what, a VAG vehicle ? I have a gut fealing that the Turbo'ed Honda will be way more reliable than lets say a TSI engine. That alone would make me pick the Honda.
