Prime Autotainment Bo problem at all. Can I ask you one thing though? Are all current model Z71 a 4WD? Is there a difference really between 4WD and 4x4? I’ve seen there is are three options on the dial in Z71: Auto, 4hi, 4lo. Am I misguided saying that it is a 4x4 and not just 4WD?
@PrimeAutotainment5 жыл бұрын
At one point there used to be 2wd Z71s available..not sure if they’re all 4wd now or not. 4WD and 4x4 basically mean the same thing but some 4 wheel drive systems are setup differently. It’s different than SUV/Crossover type AWD. Part time 4 wheel drive is what this has and it means it’s 2wd (rear wheels) unless a 4 wheel setting is selected. 4 hi is the traditional option for most scenarios of slippery situations. 4 lo is a “low range” off roading at slow speeds where you might need more torque and control...auto keeps it in 2wd (with 4wd in standbye) until it detects slippage, then kicks 4 wheel drive in automatically and disengages it once you get good traction. You can say 4wd or 4x4 for the Silverado..either one. Hope this helps!

And mine is a real Z71 with 4wd. Dont get suckered and by a 2wd z71 like a friend of mine did. He thought it was 4wd for months until he needed it.

Great video super informative! Im looking at the same truck but im confused have several questions maybe you can help? 1) the 2018 Silverado is a Z71 as it has the logo on the dash like that red one and also the big sticker on the back (driver side) but it does not have the Z71 logo on the grille. Is it normal? Or is it an after market grille?

Joe Hurtado not American believe it or not it’s an Mexico truck since they moved factories to Mexico and can’t build a solid truck anymore. The v8 on those trucks is a joke vvt v8 that uses water thin oil 0w20 that when it gets old you’re screwed and can’t add thicker oil. Yea I’m sticking to 90s-early 2000 Chevy trucks

Think a used one of these is a good option in 2021 I'm not paying 50k-60k+ for a truck and I'm not to impressed with the new style I believe the 16-18 has a mix of the OBS and more modern truck put together the 19+ just look goofy

I just bought mine yesterday with 30k miles with one previous leased owner. I would certainly appreciate any insight from truck owners that have alot more miles than I do. What should I be looking for. One thing I noticed immediately is there is absolutely no CVT transmission capability (continously variable shifting). I definitely feel the jerk when shifting gears at high speed, but honestly I feel that's just a part of this model & modern trucks overall. I look forward to hearing some feedback from any other 1500 owners as this is my first. Thank you in advance.

@@PrimeAutotainment I wasn't being cocky, I'm just trying to figure out what a Texas edition comes with that most lt z71 trucks dont ? Besides badging of course.
@PrimeAutotainment5 жыл бұрын
Roy Riley no worries I didn’t take it that way...looking back at the info it says the Texas edition adds: 10-way power driver-seat adjuster with bench seat, dual-zone climate control, remote vehicle starter system, rear-window defogger, manual tilt and telescopic steering column,7 110-volt power outlet, LED foglamps and Texas Edition badging. LTZ includes 20" x 9" chrome wheels and Bose® premium 7-speaker sound system with Richbass® woofer with available bucket seats (6-speaker sound system with bench seat) (Crew Cab and 4-door Double Cab models) That’s copy and pasted lol but all of those things are available with other options and packages so basically it makes the Texas edition unnecessary lo

Damon Nelson I did get to spend a lot more time in a 6.2 V8 with the 8 speed not long ago and thought it was smooth when moderate acceleration...but at low speeds it seemed a bit clunky. Not sure how much the 2 differ, just wish I could have spent more time in the 5.3
@nelsonsunite6 жыл бұрын
Prime Autotainment no worries, thanks for the reply!
@nelsonsunite6 жыл бұрын
Prime Autotainment that's exactly what I experience at lower speeds with my 5.3! It's almost as if its not sure which gear to go to and that's when it clunks and jerks. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't alone in this. It's unfortunate. A brand new 2018 is having these problems. Hopefully some sort of recall can fix it. From what I hear, those don't happen too often.
@PrimeAutotainment6 жыл бұрын
Damon Nelson yeah that’s definitely not fun. Hopefully it’s nothing damaging or anything like that. It felt great once I accelerated a decent amount and forced it to make up its mind. A fix would be great and hopefully you’re right about a recall. Good luck with it and I hope you enjoy your truck otherwise. Thanks for reaching out

Silverado or Tundra? What do you recommend?
@PrimeAutotainment6 жыл бұрын
Dang there’s a lot to consider with this. The Silverado can tow more, offers more tech like Apple car play android auto, HID lights standard, better mileage . The tundra offers its safety suite standard, has proven reliability record for this generation and more space in crew max model. It’s 5.7 is more powerful than Silverado 5.3 Both hold their value well. I think it depends what’s important to you and how you would use it! What you thinking?

Go for Silverado if you like driving trucks on paved roads, daily commute and some sports on mind. Go for Tundra if you like reliability, safety, off roading and comfort

In fact the Tundra and Titan are designed, sourced, built and made in the US. Ram is now made in Mexico, F150s and Silverados are made in the US but with much fewer US contents than the Titan and Tundra. So yeah support the US economy and buy wisely ;)

Really ? I have no problem with my 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 V-8 Vortex automatic engine 355 HP 5.3. Is exactly the same thing as the video of 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 has only mine is over 123 thousands miles on dashboard and $27 thousands dollars Used truck and no problem with radio and shaking around. I traded my old 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 that was a V-8 Vortex automatic engine 295 HP 5.3 with 4 Squad doors with 4by 4 automatic Sensors drive thru and has 6' and a half foot bed without any rear-view camera in the tailgate and it has over 160 thousands miles on the dashboard and falling apart due to being a lake flooded truck with still mud and lake stuff inside the dashboard and engine compartment and the push buttons driver's side window and doors front and back kept shutting off locks and driver's side window motor shut off and on . But engine is still find but I replaced Fuses in the engine but does work for driver's side locks and window and it's was expensive so I'm getting older so I traded to newer 2015 Chevy Silverado but making payments as much as possible and gonna sell it in 10 years when I die off and no since in spending money on repairing 2006 flooded Used Chevy Silverado truck I bought used since I didn't know that it was drowning in lake some time ago when Used truck dealership sold it to me in 2016 for $11 thousands dollars . I'm thinking about getting a good new towing Outside mirrors to see my small and large trailers . I live in 4 acres land forest property with my mom's old house and forest yard always have been muddy and icy snow up to foot deep most of the time in near Arkansas lakes and rivers.
