Please do more of the higher mileage reviews. As someone who buys a truck and holds on to it for a relatively long time it’s good to know what has a tendency to go wrong. I do watch TFL’s and Pickup truck talk and some others and they are fine but all of their discussions are on what packages come on new trucks. You put them up on a lift and talk about the overall design or engineering of the truck. That why your my favorite automotive channel.

Chevy mechanic here in wisconsin. Fluid film your truck asap. These things rust kinda quick. Or just make sure you wash it. Stay away from the 8 speed transmissions go with the 10speed if possible. You want comfortable seats buy a Ford truck. Best seats I've seen

I think there was a 2019 on South Main Auto channel with electrical problems due to a rotten braided ground strap between the frame and cab. Or something like that. Anyway, 3 salty winters…

Yea I work for Ford the seats in the new trucks are awesome, plenty of stuff for me to complain about like the crazy amount of pinion seal leaks I see or the stupid amount of windows off center from the factory so bad the wipers slide of the edge and make noice but the comfort is definitely the best of the bunch.

I had a great experience with the Seat Shop for my 04' Sierra seat bottom and foam. Looks factory, perfect fit, major improvement, and replaced the heating element at the same time. Watching their YT tutorials is actually how I ended up watching so much automotive youTube. It auto-played into a Vice Grip Garage episode, and that lead me almost directly here.

I have a 2020 gmc 1500 2wd dc 5.3l 8 speed. Unladen going 79mph up and down i75 from ga to oh I averaged 26mpg. 25 if it’s in summer months. Made that trip about 4 times since owning it. 23k miles so far and no real issues other than seat belt recall. The 1-2 shift can be harsh on the first trip out on a cold morning, but I’ve also experienced this in a 22’ ford ranger. So I don’t worry about it. 1 time the 8 speed lost its mind on a short trip, couldn’t pick a gear and stay in it, shut off the truck and restarted and never had it happen again. Towing is excellent, towed a 18’ steel car trailer with a rx8 on it and still managed 16mpg. With a 12’ dump trailer it averages 14 empty and as low as 9 loaded. I track my mileage using the Fuelly app. Total average is 20mpg. I absolutely love the truck and thanks to the perfect time I bought it I could still sell it for at or slightly more than I paid. I traded a 4cyl base 2wd Tacoma towards it. That truck was reliable but awful to drive. The manual had terrible ratios, bench seat would kill your back, seating position was more like sitting in a car. Towing was just a dream unless you had a 5x8 utility trailer with a push mower loaded.

I work at a GM dealership. With those wrangler duratracs we recommend rotations twice as often and paying attention to having the proper amount of air pressure in them because they will cup really bad if they aren’t maintained. We actually don’t like to sell vehicles with those tires because of this issue

I had an 05 yukon xl with duratracs (LT's) rotated once a year, front to rear, never side to side. Never experienced any cupping with higher then oem pressures. Granted I'm a tech and always made sure the front end was tight/aligned and shocks were replaced when blown. It's worth noting this vehicle was not lifted, not even leveled. Had 470,000kms+ when I sold it.

Things I can tell you about these body style trucks, 1. Do not lift or level an AT4 package truck using the stock upper control arms, the upper ball joints will separate at some point 2. If you have a V8 you will probably experience lifter failure at some point. Seems like in most cases it does not take out the camshaft but obviously the longer you run it once the noise becomes prevalent the higher the chance of camshaft failure. 3.They do have issues with fuel pump driver modules on these, The fuel pump also runs on AC voltage so if the module dies there's no way to jump the pump. 4. there are little issues that pop up from time to time that have bulletins, but for the most part there's not a ton else that goes wrong with these

2020 GMC Sierra AT4 literally just ate the lifters a week ago right at 68,000 miles. Under warranty obviously. Estimated repair time of 2 weeks because of part shortage. Lol. But yes your comment is on point

As a tech at a GMC dealership the most common issues I have seen on that body style is issues with lifters failing and sometimes takes out the cam and water leaking around rear glass. There is a bulletin out for the rear glass leak but that might be year specific.

I assume the lifter issues are related to the active/dynamic fuel management (cylinder cut off). As Rich said, fuel mileage hasn't improved that much over the years, so why even bother with AFM if it causes problems down the line? Actually, I know the answer - it makes for good marketing.

Ended up replacing lifter and oil control solenoid as it was either or and no way to figure out which without replacing. Also have noticed when people put aftermarket exhaust on to make it sound louder when it goes to 4 cylinder it sounds bad.

How's this for a rear glass leak.. picked up my brand new 18 SLT/All terrain and the top left corner of the rear glass was totally pushed out. You could slide your fingers in behind it. Brought it in the body shop, they sprayed it with a hose while I was in the backseat and I got soaked. They scheduled it in to get replaced but all I could think of was "How many days did this thing sit out in the rain before I picked it up?"

yeah it was the 2019 models only for the rear glass leak. also worked at a dealer in northern Ontario. tones of lifters and sometimes the cam. we would see the rare oil pump but I think its a lack of maintenance in our harsh winters.

I have a 2020 Chevy 1500 with the 3L babymax and ten speed. It has 57,1xx miles on it at this moment and I’ve had 4 def sensor failures. I’ve had the TCM rewired once under warranty because while driving down the highway at about 70mph it kicked me out of gear and turned on a whole christmas tree worth of lights. Along with the service lights the truck didn’t move under its own until I cycled the truck multiple times. I limped it back to the dealer and they diagnosed it as the wiring harness. They rewired and gave it back to me. I continued to have weird shifts and very shuttery shifts in that 8-10th gear range so I gave it back to the dealer and they installed a new TCM and rewired everything back to the tranny again. Since then I have had no issues with the truck. I average 28mpg with hand calculation.

My dad has a ‘20 Sierra 1500 SLT with the 5.3 and 10 speed. He gets 27-28 mpg on the highway, 18-20 in town with rigid bed cover. The truck has had zero issues in 35,000 miles. Fit and finish still good, no rattles or squeaks.

We've got a slightly newer but otherwise identical body style (2021) Sierra with the 3.0 diesel at work. One thing we've definitely been unimpressed with had been the interior quality, even right from brand new. Nothing really squeaking yet, but everything feels cheap for the price. We also found that the interior didn't handle being pulled apart well - we pulled some trim pieces to install dash cam and safety lighting wiring and immediately ran into problems with the plastics not holding up. On one of the trim pieces the plastic broke before the piece unclipped, leaving the plastic post and clip still in place. The paint is also a bit lackluster - it scratched almost immediately even with just brush contact, again from basically brand new. The mileage we're getting is insane there just as an FYI - under 10l/100km unladen, so there definitely is that benefit to that motor option. Along with that engine seems to be a tendency for the front end to feel quite floaty, like they didn't adjust the suspension for the weight.

I recently bought a used 2020, now 4-5 years old. Still super tight, very quiet. This one had Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT tires and I love them. Super quiet for AT tires. They aren't as aggressive as the Goodyears, of course, but way better for a less harsh environment.

My experience on my 2020 GMC AT4 3.0 Diesel w/ 10 sod has been good overall. It has 44k miles on it currently. I have had some irritating issues but nothing too bad. Dealership experience has been good overall. The truck runs, drives,and rides really well. Even my wife likes this truck. No problems with squeaking interior, either hot or cold temperatures. I live in Colorado and snowmobile in the mountains so I go through low 100 degree F in July, to well below zero F on some of my winter Wyoming trips. Fit and finish is good and no complaints on day to day function. I have not received any recalls or TSB’s. I did have the high pressure pump on the trans give me trouble in gears 8- 10, replaced under warranty without issues. I have the large tow mirrors and though I do agree they are ugly…. I like the visibility of them and wouldn’t go without them. My complaint with the mirrors is that one already quit working and the other is having issues. The one was replaced under warranty without issue. My complaint with the tow mirrors is the blind spot I get from the passenger mirror. I really have to be careful. My wife says there is no issue for her so it may depend on your seating position. Anybody else have this issue? My diesel gets between 22 & 24 mpg by itself and I’m really pleased with it. If I remote start it frequently obviously the mileage goes down. I did have to get my DEF sensor fixed or what the dealer said was Re-programmed because it though it was empty when nearly full. Dealer fixed it under warranty without any issues. I am dissatisfied with the amount of DEF used when towing, seems fine unladen but sucks the DEF down pretty bad when towing😢. The serviceability of the truck has been easy, no problem reaching, changing, replacing anything. Rust has not been an issue yet, Colorado does use magnesium chloride (salt) in the winter and this truck is driven 7 days a week all year long. The tires became noisy starting around 10k miles and became annoyingly load by about 20k miles. I personally service my truck every 5k miles including tire rotation. I found out my tires were cupping do to improper camber and toe settings. The dealer denied any warranty work due to “ you probably hit something” and that is what knocked it out of spec….. that was disappointing due to how easy I drive this truck. I replaced the tires with the stock Duratrac tires and then immediately had an alignment shop do a 4 wheel alignment and they found that the camber and toe were out of spec. I have not put enough miles on the new ones yet to see if that solves the problem. The seats are firm but I find them quite comfortable on long trips. No wear issues with mine yet, I have the leather seats. I love the heated steering wheel aside to care to drive with gloves on in the winter. My grumble / not serious complaints are no room for your left foot due to the dead pedal being at an unusable angle, and if you are wearing boots there is zero room for your left foot. The other nit pick complaint is the windshield fluid button is in a terrible location on the center of the stalk… put it back at the end of the stalk where it is easier to reach. Overall I’m hoping to have this truck long term, love it so far.

2020 3500hd duramax WT cclb. 10speed “Allison” is fantastic. The wider box is great truck has great potential but was plagued by Constant shaking issues when running. Almost like an old school big block. Bad enough people would warn me in traffic. Other odd electrical problems, would have no sound(turn signals, radio, seat belt dings) and the final straw was headed home on a mountain pass at night and lost everything, as if someone shut the key off but the engine stayed running. I used the rumble strips to pull over but had no way to put on hazards. Cycled the key 10+ times nothing, no cell service. As a moment of desperation I disconnected the batteries waited tried again and everything worked. When i brought it to the dealer. I was told “you have a truck that runs i have a whole lot of ones that don’t ,count yourself lucky” I contacted GM they told me that i would need the dealer to open a case report to get a more experienced tech flown in to look at the truck. Nope to hell with that. Traded for a 21 Ram 3500 not single issue in twice the miles. Miss the 10 speed but the HO cummins pulls harder and has a far superior exhaust brake.

Those Duratracs are an amazing tire for winter and or all around just have to be rotated a little more often and once they get wore down past a certain point they get loud or if they don't get rotated properly

My problem ended up being the front end camber /castor / toe settings from the manufacturer. My truck was very quiet when new but as the miles went up the tires became very loud. I spoke with a gentleman that runs hotshot / long haul trucking and he is the one that figured it out. He runs the Duratrack tires and loves them. He took one look at mine and showed me the tire edges were cupped significantly and that is where all the noise comes from. I took it for an alignment, and the camber and toe were all out of spec……. I did put new Duratrack tires back on the truck and so far I have not noticed the tires getting louder but we will have to see after 15 - 20,000 miles.

I bought a 2022 ram 2500 cummins in May. Been a great truck besides the screen glitches. Mid October with 9500 miles developed a lower end tic. Took it to the dealer they pulled the trans apart said I need a new transmission they replaced it with another. Ran it for another month and the tic came back, now with 11000 miles. The day I brought it up there the low Coolant light came on. So the low coolant was a cracked egr cooler which they fixed in a day. But the transmission is on hold til the recall parts come in, which ram said should be some time next year. The problems in the first transmission are pitting in the pump and scaring in the torque converter and burnt spots in the clutches. I have towed a 4500lb trailer with it. Wished they still had manual transmission option.

The quality control from Ram is sad. I’ve had several now at this point. 2018, 2020, and now a 2022. I’ve had problems with all 3. Things from driving it off the lot and the driver window just falls down while on the freeway and won’t go back up (6 week wait for the part), the doors refusing to lock, transmission issues with all 3. They’re still great trucks, that’s why I’ve had 3 now 😂. Just wish people still actually have a crap about their work and the quality they put out.

I have a 2020 Chevy Silverado 4X4 2500 LTX, regular bed with the 6.6 L gas engine. I live in central Florida, and the only non-common option was dual alternators and batteries. The only change I have made to the vehicle is to add a LEER 100XR Cap. The truck was purchased in August of 2020 and so far, I have gone 71,300 plus miles with it. Less than 1% of the miles is with a trailer. Other than 5,000-mile oil changes and a little more service at 50,000 miles there has been only one item that had to be replaced under warrantee. The truck has right / left vibrators that go off when you change lanes without signaling. ( I didn’t know it had them and this came as a big surprise to me.) One of those died at about 5,000 miles and it was replaced. Nothing else has failed. Nothing. Original tires made it to around 62,000 miles and the brakes remaining is showing 82% front and 88% rear. Fuel milage is around 16.5 on the highway and 12 something around town. No rust, no squeaks, and no annoying little quirks. All in all, the best vehicle I have ever owned, so far, which is saying a lot because my first car was a 1964 VW Bug. Now I do take care of what I drive. The truck I traded in was a 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 321,000 miles on it.

My 2 cents is that the oil analysis is useful and nice to have but I would definitely like reviews of older vehicles specifically after they're off warranty and I'd say 100k is still plenty of life left on modern vehicles. Though we don't have as bad of rust issues here in sask as you do in the east.

Good video ! I worked for a contractor installing lines and new dyno rooms for the paint and trim shop at the GM truck plant. The most memorable test from the line to the chassis dyno was the driver putting pedal to the metal then jamming the trans into park without using brakes. Never saw one fail and no one could tell me why it was done.

2017 Sierra SLT 4WD, 5.3, 8spd. 56k miles, just drove 1200 miles up the east coast FL-MD, averaged 20.4mpg. Oil change every 4500. Can confirm the lift takes the wax off of the frame. Had the trans fluid serviced at 30k, will do it again at 60k.

I have been driving one (Trail Boss) from 19k kms to 35k kms. The Goodyear Wrangler duratracs are noisy as hell. I think they have gotten worse over time. They look nice and I'm sure are a good offroad tire, but hate them driving secondary roads. They actually seem quieter at about 120km/hr than 90. Nice truck overall. Agree on the driver's seat wear. Good power/torque from the 5.3 with 6 speed. The odd slip yoke clunk. I think it is ridiculous that GM builds a very stout engine (6 bolt bottom end) and then equips with AFM/DFM which causes lifter failure. Also not a fan of direction injection. The old 5.3's were pretty bullet proof. Wax dipping the frames for rust protection is also a notch below the others.

My truck is a 2019 Silverado 5.3 with the 8 speed 78,000 km. Its my work truck has a service cap on the back and frequently tows a 6x12 enclosed trailer full of tools . Other than oil changes and 1 set of brakes . No issues gets 13 litres per 100 highway and 17 -18 towing the trailer in town . Great truck ! As i live in Southern Ontario as well . Definitely get your truck oil spayed.

I have the same exact trim level except it’s a regular cab, 8’ box, and base power windows and tailgate. 17,000 miles, lots of city stop and go drives. I average 15.4 mpg city. 5.3 V8 AFM and the 6 speed have not given me problems in the soon to be 2 years I’ve had it. I’ve added lights, strobes, my old tool box from the rusted out chevy I previously had, and loaded the box with all my stuff. Plenty of aftermarket wiring holes to add extra gear like a coax cable for a CB antenna. I got I recall for the middle passenger seatbelt fix. Nothing else. The only issues I’ve had are the infotainment system with it crashing when running google maps and it bugs out. Volume doesn’t go up or down occasionally. Once in a blue moon I’ll get a 3 chime error message and “Brake system Failure TOP SPEED 62 MPH”. A restart on the ignition gets it gone. I suspect a ground strap is an issue. Total amount o got that message is maybe 4 times. Other than that, it’s been my go to baby that can get the job done.

I have a 2020 GMC Sierra sle with the 6,2 and a 10 speed transmission. 20,9 mpg around town and 22 mpg on the highway. I have had zero problems with the truck. No rattles or nothing. It has way more power than I need. I love the truck. Zero recalls. It has 37000 miles on it. Thank you for the video.

I've got a 21 silverado crew cab Work truck. 67000kms. Love the truck, mileage is ok but there has been a rattle in the front passenger door since about 20000kms. Also an annoying issue is the camera and tailgate button assembly on the tailgate pops out everytime i load anything into the bed of the truck. I have the larger mirrors and agree that they move around a lot on bumps. Since new I've averaged 13.7l/100kms.

Used 2021 3500 Denali Duramax CCLB SRW. Bought it with 35k miles, barely inside warranty. Previous owner said it was to small to pull what he needed. Tried pulling my camper with it, locked the rear tires for a split second switching between 7th and 8th gear. Been sitting 2 months waiting for transmission valve body. My one experience leads me away from the first gen 10 speeds if you plan on towing anything close to 10,000lbs or more

I have a 2019 GMC Elevation 5.3l and the lifters are going on it at 60k. I had the dealer change 2 of them and about a week after the other bank is rattling bad. Also the transmission slips gear sometimes. I also have a 2020 GMC AT4 Duramax 45k. Haven't had any issues other than the steering Coolum makes bad knock when doing short quick turns left to right. It doesn't sit straight when going straight down the road. Also funny enough I used my 2019 to haul a 1980 cx500 aswell and turned it into a cafe racer.

steering column is the I shaft. it should be warranty if you still have bumper to bumper. also when a dealer does a lifter job they replace all the lifters on the affected bank. it is really dumb that they don't do both banks

I have a 2018 SLE model, again with the 5.3 so not sure how much of this applies but I assume things didn't change too much. My main complaints on that truck is 1) loose brake lines from the dealer leaking brake fluid. 2) loud cracking sounds in the dash in the winter when using AC heat. Something is not liking temperature changes in the dash it seems like. 3) the LED lights on the dash buttons are going away. Nothing major, and the brake lines wasn't a huge deal either, just not something you would expect at 20k km. Mind you, I don't use the truck for work. So it doesn't receive the same kind of work abuse you normally see. The biggest abuse the truck sees other than the winter is hauling firewood once a year.

2021 Silverado Custom 1500, 5.3l with 38,000 kliks. Great truck so far. I have owned 5 Silverado's, starting with a 1984 purchased new. The only let down with the '21 is the tailgate is not easy or quick to remove.

On the subject of mirrors, we have just purchased a new 2023 hd Chevy. 6.6 gas for those who care. The tow mirrors were a must for us. We primarily purchased an had for its ability to tow our new 24’ enclosed trailer. It’s only 10k lbs but it’s an extended roof and it moves around a half ton. Our mirrors don’t have much, if any, vibration. And provide excellent visibility. We live in the nyc area and driving in the city really requires good visibility. Would never be able to live with the small mirrors. Great video. Keep them coming!

I will say on the comment of cars with invasive/obtrusive undertrays under the engine bay - in my experience with both domestic, import, and euro cars the skid plates generally have access panels for all the drain plugs and filters. Yes, they are often not large enough access panels, but you generally can do services without removing the skid plate. THAT SAID - I've discovered that most of the dragging undertrays you see rolling around are due to a lube tech/service tech pulling down on the tray to move it out of the way while doing oil changes. I caught one on the pit camera once appearing to use my flimsily plastic tray as lift leverage and I rolled out of the bay with it dragging on the ground. Obviously, I can't speak for every make and model, but that's been my experience. Great vid as always Rich, keep em coming. Very good to know these things especially in the Canadian (in my case prairie) climate and how late model trucks and cars hold up.

Rich, I’d be interested in seeing your review of a 10 year old truck with 100-150k mile. Obviously a lot of that wear may come down to the story of who owned it. But with trucks lasting longer and prices going up, I know I’m looking at older trucks than 2 years. Something I can use for a year or two before I need to start making repairs so I can use the truck until our northeast US winters steal the body and frame from me.

My last few GM trucks: 2015 Canyon All-Terrain Crew cab/Long box. 3.6 V6/6 speed. Owned from new to ~45,000kms. Averaged ~11-12L/100 (I think, hard to remember) I installed a Rough Country 2" level and DuraTracs within the first month or two. Rear main seal leaked before 10,000kms. Heated seats SUCKED. Beat the crap out of it in snowmobile trails and mud holes for about 3.5 years without any other real issues. 2018 Sierra SLT/All-Terrain Premium 5.3L/6 Speed, Double Cab Owned from new to ~45,000Kms. Averaged about 13-14L/100KMs Swapped out the wimpy all terrains it had for DuraTracs before it left the dealer. Rear window had one corner pushed out and leaking on delivery. Uneventful up until about 42,000KM when it started filling the crankcase with fuel. High pressure fuel pump may be driven of the cam but apparently that still doesn't satisfy GMs criteria for powertrain warranty. Bumper to bumper had expired on time so I spent boxing day replacing it. Easy job and under $500 but still kind of unacceptable and annoying Currently 2022 AT4 Premium 6.2L/10 speed, Crew cab Ordered in Jan, Picked up in May. Currently ~7,500Km, averaging ~15L/100KMs Came with DuraTracs of course (I love these tires. I'll take some noise to get great wear and a well rounded, year round tire) Sometimes makes me miss my 2018.. The beginning of GMs "Pay a monthly subscription or some of your truck won't work" era. Beautiful truck and I love the AT4s but ridiculous that the 5.3 isn't available. Love the 6.2 but hate putting fuel in it. Heated/Cooled seats, heated wheel and park assist modules all MIA when built. Just got in to have the seat module installed just in time for winter.. It's a love hate relationship. A good dealer experience and supplier pricing through work keep me coming back for more. A sucker for punishment maybe

Love this truck! got a quartz red 2019 5.3 x31 SLE 4x4 with 70,000km+ I had a couple issues related to it shutting off while driving at low rpm and that was fixed by dealer. Then I had a fight with the dealer. I had left town for 1 month with my truck parked under my carport. When i returned i drove a few feet and emediatly had a break wear sensor go off detailing new breaks. At this time it had 60,000km. When i took it to the dealer i thought meh maybe i need new ones The dealer called said "good new breaks are fine well put it back and reset the code". 2 hrs later another call, "sorry our mistake the wear sensor had broken off but all is good we will put a new one on and be on your way". 1hr later another call, "hey sorry your sensor actually only comes in a new set of break pad sooooo buy new breaks". I went in got angry told them put it back together and ill take it from here" no charge or id be really angry Call the next town ove they had the sensor sold seperate for max $15. My breaks were supposedly "Glazed" and a ridge of rust developed from lack of use and when it span the rotor the piece of rust broke the wear sensor right out. It's 1 year later breaks are just around 50% and I have tlnot replaced the sensor and turned off the alert on the dash and I'm just watching the wear the old fashion way. Beside that which I do believe is a stupid design issue and the dealer tried a scam, I love this truck. I use it for work and for the bush when I hunt. It's been roughed up but still shines up and I always get compliments. It's bone stock with chrome and a box cover.

So I have 64,000 miles on my 2019. The only serious issue I've had has been the power sliding rear window leaking. Its been replaced but now about a year later it's starting to show signs of leaking again. There is dissimilar materials and they don't hold up well together the plastic cracks and it leaks. Rest of the truck is pretty solid. Changing the battery on these trucks is a pretty big chore. It's a large agm battery and its not in the easiest spot to get to in order to lift it out. Plus the plastic tray on top with the electrical stuff in it is kind of a big pain. Those Goodyear tires cup super easy on this truck and even with frequent rotations they still howl.

I've got a 2016 with a 5.3 and the 8 speed. My fuel economy is a but different maybe just being an older truck or just my lead foot 😂😂😂. But I get anywhere from 13.7 to 14.5 on regular drives. The 8 seed is really nice on the highway. I used to commute from the kawarthas to Bellville and having those extra gears I felt really helped. Truck still had lots of power in those gears as well. Mine is a Mexico truck but has been well taken care of. After 7 years there was some patches of rust on the frame but nothing a wire wheel and some vht chassis paint didn't fix. My only real complaint is my drivers heated mirror failed. There's no dipstick for the transmission. The wireless charger has failed. Just a few minor things. Mine has the cylinder deactivation with 160,000kms on it with no issues so far. Regular and now religious 5000k oil changes seem to keep it in great shape. Over all would certainly recommend the truck. I also would personally recommend oil spraying the truck from day 1. If you read the factory rust warranty the fine print makes it completely useless so just go ahead and void it. Mine also has the leather seats and I find them to be very comfortable but I am a younger man than rich so 😂.

Transmission pan service on this pays 2.2hrs according to Shopkey. You do not have to drop or even loosing the exhaust. Drain and remove all pan bolts. Drop pan and rotated it will clear with a bit of effort

Got a 2019 silverado trailboss and it's been a good truck. One glitch with codes that a software update seemed to fix. I do have a 1-2 hard shift intermittently, did have the trans fluid replaced under warranty for a slight shudder. 60000kms on it.

I have a 2019 Silverado 4WD LTZ with 6.2 liter, 15,000 miles. Since new it had a whistle or squeak above 35 mph, sounded like it was on the left side. Took to the dealer and they found a TSB involving the evap system. Performed that and it didn’t fix it. Took it back three more times, once they had it two weeks and still didn’t get it fixed. They said it was an issue with the brakes, turned the rotors, didn’t fix it. I knew it wasn’t brakes because the noise didn’t go away when brakes were applied at speed. One day I decided to do my own research and after a lengthy internet search, found a reference on a forum to GM PIP5653. It included my model and year and symptoms and suggested a repair if the noise disappeared when truck was put into 4WD. I never thought to check for that. I put it into 4WD and the noise was gone. Back into 2WD, noise came back. Took it to a different dealer, they did the repair as PIP5653 described and the problem was solved. By the way, the date of the bulletin predated the first time I took it to the dealer with my initial complaint. Hopefully this helps someone.

I own a 2019 silverado new gen and there is only two problem that have been repaired on warranty . The electronic master brake booster and the oil cooler line for the engine that were seeping a little bit. For the rest zero problem for approximately same milleage as the test truck. I would recommend this truck in that configuration to anyone that need a small duty truck. Still like the truck and want to keep it for at least 5 years. Defenetly gona do the oil to protect the stupid wax frame… thanks for the video and if your not filty your not rich 😜

I have a 21 Chevy trailboss custom with the 5.3 and 6 speed. After 46k miles, zero issues. Towed a bobcat for a weekend and an early bronco from MA to MI. Only gripe I had was the somewhat small steering wheel compared to what I was driving before. Makes inputs on the highway a bit more direct; would prefer an extra inch or so diameter but otherwise no issues.

Push button on the tailgate sucks in the snow and cold. Rubber gets hard and covered in snow making hard to open in the winter especially with gloves since the button is so small. I also found my paint seams to be chipping rather easily compared to my previous trucks. Current truck is 2021 Sierra 1500 elevation, 5.3 6 speed. I use the truck for work and it travels a lot of gravel and salted highways in Saskatchewan/Alberta. I definitely have more undercarriage surface rust than Joel’s. He must keep it pretty clean and not travel a lot of gravel. I was getting about 20mpg/12km per 100km when it was stock. Just put a 4” lift on it as it sat way too low from factory for working in snow conditions so I’m sure mileage will drop. I previously owned a 2015 Sierra 1500, 2011 Silverado 1500, 2008 Silverado 2500 and still have a 2007 Silverado 1500.

I did sell it and bought a 2007 Silverado HD with a Duramax . The pulling power and mileage is night and day . My new old rig has 155k on it . I feel the same way. I like up to 2013 with the DOD/AFM delete installed. I have a 2014 Sierra and it's a piece of crap compared to my 2008. I had to get another truck after a moron t-boned my 2008. Worlds apart these two trucks are. Haven't bought the previous body style to the 08, so I can't say much. I have owned pretty much every body style from 1950 to 2014 with the exception of the GMT600s.

I got a 2022 gmc 2500 HD crew cab 6.6L gas. Some of the things I have noticed with it is. 1 there’s a clunk in the front end the dealer can’t seem figure out and fix it 2 there’s a really loud squeak when you hit a bump. The dealer said it’s the brake pads and it’s not covered by warranty 3 like you mentioned about the mirrors. They are very big, hard to see past and can hide a vehicle behind them as you’re coming up to a stop sign and about to turn. And they whistle pretty loud when driving on the highway or into the wind. 4 the tranny is a 6 speed 4L90. It shifts hard and when you slow down and speed up it seems to shift down and rev pretty high in order to up shift. 5. The mileage…. It is a full crew cab. But empty regular driving in the country is 16L per 100km. Highway I have been able to get it down to 12.5L per 100km. Towing a 22’ gooseneck its about 22-24L per 100km. And towing a single axle 18’ camper it got 24-25L per 100km.

Molybdenum "Mol yb den um" is a metal which is used as a sacrificial friction modifier additive (similarly used in Moly grease in the same way) it coats surfaces such as bearings and moving parts, it breaks down over time rather than the surface it is coating, increasing the life of bearings and Cams. Boron also is used in the same way to increase the life of an engine / friction surfaces.

I have 2023 Silverado 1500 with 3.0 duramax and 10 speed. Truck is in the shop for a new valve body on the transmission due to a transmission vibration between 1700 and 2000 rpm, started after towing about 6000lbs down a steep grade. Truck only has 25000 km. Also, I have towed with it lots before and no issues prior.

My biggest gripe with this generation is the DEF system on diesel Duramax. I drive a 2500 Chevrolet with a 30' gooseneck and have had to deal with multiple DEF failures limiting my speed to 85km/h back from Toronto to Ottawa. Other than that, I agree with you. One of the failures was covered by a factory recall I was able to get fixed in Cananoque and still make my delivery.

Bought 2021 Silverado Custom with the 5.3 and 6 speed new. Has the towing package with the big mirrors. Hated them not because of ugly but they gave me a huge blind spots that it thought were dangerous. Changed to the sport mirrors. Much better. Wife doesn't like the seats. I don't mind them. This truck is a rocket it does 90 mph with ease. Drove to Florida and back doing 80 mph and was getting 18 mpg. I am very pleased with this truck. I did woolwax the underside. OEM Bridgestone tries are very quiet.

I’ve had 2 sets of duratracs on my 2017 Silverado and they are Loud especially when they have a lot of miles. I found that when I put my new ones on they were quiet again and not as loud. Other then that I love my duratracs, good in the snow, good in the dirt

Just bought this same truck except with a 10 speed and a few more bells and whistles. They are really a nice truck but man the price they get for them is incredible. We tow up to 2000 pounds on our 18 ft flatbed and mileage was about the same (right around 15 to 16 MPG) but we take it up some pretty good hills. When I'm towing flat I see the numbers jump up to 19. I too am amazed at how quiet this truck is. Great review!

I'm going to provide candid feedback. I don't understand how drivers are getting below EPA efficiency driving your vehicles. My current 21 RST 6.2 Z71 is the worst truck mileage wise I've owned in the past 7 years at 19.1 MPG. As for issues, I've not had a single one and unlike my 18 Silverado there aren't annoying squeaks, floating drivers seat, falling overhead center console, or broken fuel filler.

Also, about the oil filter being loose, the AC Delco filters we use we’ve had a lot of problems with them leaking because the oil filter gasket isn’t seated into it fully from the place that makes them so there is a bulletin from GM about proper torque. If you tighten it by hand like any other filter it will get tight but the gasket isn’t seated fully into the filter so you need to tighten it another full turn

You should make review on vehicle that are 5-10 years old and more to educate poor people before they go out and look for a vehicle they gonna rely on and cant afford to fix. So they know what to buy and look for when shopping.People who buy vehicle just a few years old or brand new can afford to fix them anyway. You should go to the scrap yard and see what vehicle are coming in and why. How old how much mileage and why they end up there and which one end up there faster and more often. Most vehicle are not having real issue before the 200 000 km mark anyway. I bought a 2011 sorento recently and what i been searching for a lot before buying is video about the common issue so i know what to look for when shopping.

I own a 2021 trailboss with the 10speed transmission. It's been a great truck. Got 37k on it. Only problem I had was a rear main seal leak. Took me a day to replace so not bad. Other then that no problems yet. I change the oil every 3,000 miles. Never go 6,000

Tranny cooler lines are a pain to change on those. I’ve driven many of the 3500’s and the only think I didn’t like about the mirrors were the blind spots when looking to the right but really like the power fold on the key fob when holding lock

I have those tires on 2 vehicles and yes they are really loud but I love how much traction they have. I live in MN and it's hard to find tires that don't suck in the snow and ice and these perform really well. I might try Nitto ridge grapplers next time around and see if they are any quieter but still offer the same level of traction.

I just recently got a 2019 GMC sierra 51000 miles on it. Biggest issue so far is the transmission sometimes shifts hard or makes the truck stutter or jut forward from 1st to 2nd gear. This is the first large truck I've owned and I wish the suspension was a bit tighter, going over bumps causes the truck to bounce a few times before it settles.

Yeah those seats not being comfortable are a major knock against it. Seat has got to be nice or else the vehicle is going to put you off over time. That tire noise was bad too but, they are chunky tires for off road usage so you should expect noise like that from chunky tire tread patterns.

I do know that Molybdenum is an additive in oils. Project Farm posts great comparisons of motor oils and he always does the spectrum analysis for them. I think you should keep the analysis in the videos for future reference. And if you can come across a relatively recent Tahoe (2020+), I'd love to see a video on it. Considering picking on up in East Coast US (NC) here in the new year.

The 1999-2002 new body style era were the best trucks all around. 2003 forward was trash, and GM has been rebuilding them since 2014 model year. They have gotten better in what I’ve seen

I expect it to be in excellent condition while it's almost new and under warranty, but I'd be more interested in how it is around 75k-100k miles (120k-160k km) to understand how much life is left in it. That might make your oil test more relevant, too.

2019 10 speed 5.3 Silverado. Purchased new and agree the seat is way to firm and the side bolster is collapsing at 21k. From new the trans on its first shift up shifts very quick and jolts the truck. Only the first shift of the day. Recommendation not to level these trucks. Had mine removed due to towing boat, car trailer and camper. Towing much better with the front leveling spacers removed. This is a crew cab all star edition. Fuel economy average but would do well with a larger tank compared to my 04 with a 36 gallon tank. Only recall was the seat belt. Back up cam at night being a white truck is blinding due to the tailgate design. Otherwise great vehicle being my 3rd Silverado.

I have a 2018 LT Crew with the same drivetrain. has 30k. I use it to pull toys (boat, UTV, ATV) and the odd utility trailer I live in Halifax during the winter and Northern Quebec during the summer RUST. I remove the spare, blow off the dead wax and dirt with175psi then oil it (twice a year with Krown. The underbody looks better than Joel's so I would follow that recommendation to oil the truck. MILEAGE: My mileage is also quite a bit better with the Bridgestone H/L during the summer and about what the review showed with the Cooper AT/W tires during the winter. RELIABILITY: Had my first failure last week. The upper taillight bulb shorted out and melted the socket so it blinked but no longer display the night or break function. WRENCHING: Ordered the OEM replacement passenger side harness. 75,00 CND 38.00US. Took me 45 minutes to replace. 2 Torx, and 2 plastic spring clips and lowered the spare 18 inches. If you wrench yourself, these trucks are super easy to work on and bulletproof. FAVORITE FEATURE:: the Auto4x wheel drive feature bests all of its competitors. COMPARISON: I also own a 2003 2500HD with 50 000km. in showroom condition and that truck has also been pretty fantastic, with the only repairs in 20 years of ownership the steering column shaft bearing and aftermarket lower half shaft to correct what I consider is a defect, which took me a total of one hour. The bearing was 15 dollars. RECOMMENDATION A recommendation is to have the spare removed before oiling the truck, oil the inside of the frame's tubular sections, and cap them (available on Amazon). I have had a lot of amazing vehicles but my Chevy trucks have been my favorite. The 2003HD is a family member and will be passed on to my son.

I have a 2018 Silverado I bought brand new, it has the 5.3 with a hair under 70K. My mileage is 15 mpg without a trailer, 14.6 with an open 20 foot trailer. It’s a 2WD custom, nothing fancy. I should also note that my co workers say I drive like an angry teenager. I dog all of my vehicles, I go as fast as I want, and I haven’t had anything break or go wrong yet. If driven a little better my mileage might go up a little but I still love the truck non the less.

I have a 21 GMC Sierra Elevation with the 3.0L Duramax and bought it new(50 miles when purchased, I have 47k on it now) I average 29mpg in the summer and 24 in the winter(living in Minnesota). The only main issue I have had with it, is at 36k miles, I had to have the valve body and clinoid replaced in the 10 speed transmission(had to wait about a month for parts). I do tow a 18ft ice castle RV edition and I average 16.5mpg. I would buy it again.

I have a 07 Silverado 2500HD WT 4x4 Classic - bone stock except I added a fiberglass canopy and a bedrug. I have 206000 miles, I replaced the lifters at 165000 miles along with the serpentine belt idler, tensioner and waterpump. The left front hub went bad at 76000 miles and was replaced under warranty. Also the heater motor and resisters were changed at 76000 miles under warranty. I'm on my 5th set of tires. Oil is changed every 3000 miles with mobile 1 synthetic. Upcoming maintenance - the front sway bar bushing are worn out. The spare tire winch has rusted solid and will need to be replaced. The wheels are steel and are very heavily rusted - replacements next summer as budgeting allows. I don't see any reason to buy a new truck - I got this one for dealer cost in Sept 2006 for $21,000. Its worth more to me to just replace what goes wrong than pony up $60,000 for a new truck.

I have a 2019 1/2 ton four-door with a camper shell on the back as it is my work truck I work for the local telephone company in an extremely rule area. It will be four years old in January and I have 157,000 miles on it already and it is never been in the shop or lost one minute of work due to some failure. It has the 5.3 L in it and gets routine all changes every 4500 miles. Another one in our fleet had Lifter issues, but mine never has. My personal truck is a 2022 trail boss with the 6.2 L in it it has 27,000 miles on it in six months and it also has never been in the shop from my personal experience. They are worth the money. Because my 6.7 L F250 that’s four months old has been in the shop four times and left us on the side of the road twice.

I’ve recently picked up the 22 refresh with the 10 speed 5.3 and I’m getting around 15.1 L/100km hwy sometimes even as low at 12,13L/100 Km and in city around 17 ish L/100km. It’s got the X31 package with the multi pro tail gate. The auto locking diff works great Would love for you to have it reviewed in a year or so. Got around 4,000 Km on her and love it. Great review rich.
