Biggest problem is the pricing. How many people can really afford a $1500+/mo. car payment. This is exactly why a lot of cars aren't selling well right now. Even if you make $100k/yr, unless you don't have to pay for housing, the numbers don't make sense.

I'd agree with you, but the amount of people that are buying these $100k luxury trucks and pay to fuel them makes me think there's a decent amount of people that either do have the money, or are willing to make a sketchy financial choice because they want it badly enough.

Im a current Challenger owner and lifelong fan, but I still can commend this effort! It sucks having to go first in any arena but to do it like this, you really can't fault them. Most of those complaining really don't understand the laws and policies that govern the industry. This new Charger is the embodiment of "Adapt and Overcome"!. I love it and plan on owning one as soon as I'm able to. This isnt something Dodge wanted, its what they were forced to do. However, they did it in the truest to the heritage fashion! To be fair, I also support the mach-e which a lot of enthusiasts don't, and would love to see an electric small mustang hatch that took styling inspiration from the foxbody or something to be sold alongside the normal mustang and Mach-e. So my opinions anger some other enthusiasts.

I like the way it looks but pretending it has sound is silly. ICEs have sound because of what they are. There’s also many points I don’t hear discussed enough. Mining impacts, equipment used to mine, equipment used to transport material, refine material, transport material again, transport after the vehicle is created. In general, unnecessary air travel, 1000s of planes flying half empty all day every day, people having three kid families and the impact of needed food and goods, the production and transport needed to sustain that, the militaries of the world operating 24/7, the rich flying for unnecessary reasons blah blah I know. The Charger EV is a product no one asked for - and they certainly didn't want it replacing the Hemi or Hellcat. There's NOTHING WRONG with having a Charger EV, but the core audience is disgusted by the probability of losing the HEMI and Hellcat altogether only to have it replaced by a 6 cylinder or EV. Either of those is seen as a downgrade. Thing is, the Charger EV is still moving forward with the digitization of the car itself. These things are slaved to the dealer and can mostly only be repaired by them - it's all software and firmware now. Not gauges and mechanisms. I don't think people are going to buy the revised gas version of the Charger EV simply because of the high prices and markups of the new platform. Dodge better have very aggressive leasing and financing. 0% APR for 74 months lol. $6000 down.

Your videos are what helped convince me to get my '23 5.7 Challanger, but I can't see me moving to something like this in the future. I think it looks good style wise, but the EV thing just doesn't do it. And I had higher hopes for it's not very loud and doesn't really sound like it builds up as you go faster. It's 1 ton heavier and less range, while it's quick. It's not very fast for the power it has for the price it starts at among the trims. My 5.7 may be slower, but the 345 cubic inches feel much more soulful than this. It has cassic styling with a modern touch and modern electronics. Maybe the Hemi will come back with changes in the administration and Tavares out and Kuniskis coming back to Ram. I want to hope Mopar will live on as more than just a parts supplier for enthusiasts. But thank you for the review Matt, never disappoint in your delivery and concise way to explain the features of the cars you review.

@314jeepsnmopars3Ай бұрын
@MattMaranMotoring in the promo videos of the Charger, it did seem like the exhaust was louder and tended to sound like it was revving out. In most of the video reviews, it seems like it's a more constant sound like a CVT makes most engines sound. And I get these have a single speed transmission, but it feels like it doesn't add to the sense of speed like I expected it to. Hopefully with an update they make make it have more character to it because I don't think it's a bad thing, I just don't think it's utilized half as well as I expected, and I was trying to be more open and optimistic lol I do think the inline 6 will sell better and give the car more character. I am worried that the car will still be significantly heavier than the Challanger with it already being so much larger and weighing close to 5,800lbs as an EV. My base R/T is around 4,200lbs so if this is heavier than even a Hellcat it certainly won't change the boat allegations lol Part of me is optimistic the Hemi or a V8 will return with the changes in Stellantis and the need for them to find success. But, we'll see.

If it was under $45,000 tax title and fees I’d give it a try 🤔. But double? Nope rather find a super clean jailbreak several of those hanging out brand new on lots for the 75k mark but I’m sure you could find the right dealer and could get it a bit cheaper…. Nope nope nope 😂

The Ioniq 5N DOES have outside speakers.

Technically yes, but the sound is very quiet and is basically just the pedestrian warning sound.

@ nope, it’s the same sound as inside. I own one, you can’t convince me otherwise.

@@sebajfobi I just don't know how that's possible since I filmed flybys with the I5N for my review and there's zero sound caught on camera. Maybe there was a hidden setting I missed or it's available in other markets?

It’s definitely cool. They did a good job and I’m sure they’ll improve it as time goes on. I like the way it looks! But I’d rather have the 5N if I was buying

Also wish they did like Hyundai and give it shifting

This was so much fun to see--and even hear! Wow, what a change from the 2007 Dodge Charger SRT8 I used to own! In my personal opinion, the exterior styling of this new generation is my favorite out of all current production EVs. Thanks for this awesome video! 👍👍🏁
