We have a NA CX-50 and it’s been great. No issues whatsoever, plenty of power for daily driving (media makes us think we need 6 second cars but nobody drives like that), lots of space, love the leather and mesh seats, and it’s extremely good looking.

I don’t believe there is a heated steering wheel offered on the top line CX 50 hybrid unless it’s in Canada
@jamesnumich26 күн бұрын
at 6:41 you can see the blank switch where the heated steering wheel button should be

While the Kia Sportage might be a better value upfront, long term you have to look at the depreciation. The Mazda will keep its value much better than the Kia.

I really do not understand why the Hybrid trims don't follow the trims of the turbo models. Its disappointing. Iv been holding out for about 2 years now, on buying a new daily driver. I was sold on the CX-50 Turbo (i test drove one) but then I decided to look at other vehicle types such as a pick up, sedan etc but I came back to the CX-50. Was about to go find "the one" and heard there is a hybrid coming out so I waited. I was hoping the features/trims would follow the turbo models as my comparison is a 2021 RAV4 XLE Hybrid that one of my family members has. I figured the RAV4 is fine but if I can get a Hybrid in the Premium Plus version (like the turbo model) it would be perfect and it would "beat" the RAV4 XLE Hybrid for me as the Toyota was lacking in the looks/quality of material department. I watched like 10+ reviews today just to confirm what I heard but basically in the USA for some odd reason gets the weirdest set up of options. To summarize, if you don't care about the traffic sign recognition system, the sunroof, the heads up display, wireless charger, Sirius and ventilated seats - just get the Preferred trim. The only difference between the premium and premium plus trim is in the premium trim you get the heads up display and ventilated seats. You do not get a heated steering wheel AT ALL nor heated rear seats here in the USA in the hybrids. I could still go for the turbo model in the top trim - used - for about 36k. That way I got everything minus the fuel efficiency but the idea was to go from my 18 year old SUV that gets 16-17 MPG with a 24 gallon tank (I have to fill it up pretty much 3 - 4 times a month) to something that is fuel efficient, new, reliable and something that wont require attention all the time (old cars age and eventually stuff just goes from age).

The one bummer is that to get the Bose, you have to get the Premium trim, which has the panoramic roof. I wish you could get the Bose as a standalone option on the Preferred (I always think of all the issues VW/Audi have had with their panoramic sunroofs on their MQB cars).

I’m really disappointed in all the tech they left off the US hybrid like the 360 cam but include with the top turbo models (and are included in the Canadian hybrid market)
@g60corrado91Ай бұрын
Nice review. Are you positive the steering wheel is heated in the Premium Plus trim? Looking at their spec sheets, that's only on the Turbo model, where the button is below the Auto climate control knob in those (missing at the 6:40 mark in this video). For USA versions at any rate.
@MattMaranMotoringАй бұрын
Yeah I think I might have been wrong. Somewhere in their presentation a heated steering wheel was mentioned. I did see that this car didn't have it but thought maybe it was a pre-production one or something, but yeah seems like they actually don't offer one on this, big miss in my opinion. Thanks for confirming this.
@g60corrado91Ай бұрын
@ it appears the Canada market does get the heated steering wheel as well as the 360° camera and parking sensors (possibly the rear heated seats too?). They also can get the Soul Red exterior with an orange interior which is pretty cool. I’m not sure why Mazda and Honda (others I’m sure too) limit the US market trims.
@angusmacdonald5300Ай бұрын
Interesting that in Canada the top trim of the hybrid gets 360 camera etc that are missing in the US. Maybe pushing American buyers towards the CX-70 and CX-90 that want more bells and whistles

That interior is NOT "premium." Crappy screen, hard plastics, cramped seats, roof that hardly opens, etc. Add in too-hard seats & non-independent rear suspension. I'm also wondering about having a Toyota powertrain being serviced by Mazda techs in the future... maybe not a big deal, but a question mark.
@imnotusingmyrealname4566Ай бұрын
That's what you get with your "tough" "rugged" "adventure" "crossover" 😂😂. A Mazda 3 is a luxury car compared to this and with a bargain price.
