With this past weekend's crazy release now over and with the dust all settled, I highlight the differences between the 2013 "Bred" 1 versus its 2016 updated counterpart. With slight variations between both versions, both with their pros and cons, which year's Bred 1s do you prefer?

For anyone who sees this in the future. The '16 and '85 reds are about the same. The brighter red is something JB did with the '94 and it was at it's brightest with the '01 pair. They dialed it back with later releases but the shade of red on the 16's are the closest to the OG.

I got the 2013s used for 30 dollars from a thrift shop in Kuwait. They had no idea what they are. They are 100% legit and barely used. In really excellent condition wayy better than used sold online.

Loved this comparison, the 2016's are 🔥 I have a 2013 pair of Chicago's and they're almost identical in shape to the Breds from the same year.

Bought the 2013 pair, sold them when I found out 2016 was dropping then I sold the 2016 to re buy the 2013. Nice leather quality on the 2016 but the shoe itself just doesn’t pop. The red is too dull on 2016 pair and the “good leather quality” takes away from the pop imo. I prefer the brighter red and the smooth leather better.

i have both the 2013 and the 2016 pairs and they are both great but i have to say i prefer the 2016 pair more. 2016 has higher cut and better leather for sure.

2013 is closer to the 1985 version but the 2016 do have better leather at least in the look since it's tumbled leather but 2013 wins for me

2016 is closer to 85's/94's save for the tumbled. The 2013 is more like the jumpan jordan 1 releases.

2013 is closer to the 85, straighter back, wider toe box, larger swoosh. The leather on the 2016 is tumbled, making it look better and feel softer. I doubt there is that much different in quality.

2013 Jordan’s leather was so good but the shape was amazing the 2016 breds and 2017 royals have such a bulky shape and that that tumble leather don’t do it for me

I feel like anyone that is interested in getting a pair of Bred 1's should want them to look as close as possible to the original 85 pair, and that means the 2013 pair win by default, at least for me. I'll take the hit to leather quality to get a more true to the original look.

16's are way closer to the original than the 2013's. Even down to the shade of red used. The worse thing is that they tumbled the red parts to be more like the banned 2011 release. I've owned all nike air b/red 1 releases from '85 '94 '01 '11 '13 and the '16. In terms of closeness in shape and height etc the 94's and 16's come the closest to the original.

You right the 13 is closer to og down to the swoosh and the smooth leather, that skinny swoosh and tumbled leather fucks it up on them 16’s, the only thing the 16 has on the 13’s is height

2013 breds are soo much better than the 2016. the 2016 is too dark and hate the tumble leather which kills it and wish it was that glossy smooth leather like the 2013

Imo the 2013 are better. Closest thing to what mj wore too and the leather is good. The 2016 skinny swoosh don't do it for me but at least the leather on them is butter.
