My review and demonstration of the TERAPUMP TRFA01 fuel transfer pump. Fits most any gas can and will make life easier for you. 100% better than the enviro friendly spouts on gas cans these days.

I have had mine for 18 months and it still works very well. I love it! Mine has not broken down.I can refill my Honda generator tank without worries of over filling and spilling fuel on it.

I purchased one of these based on the advertisement of pumping 3 gpm and showing discharge vessel on the ground discharging into a vehicle at a higher level. Instructions received with unit states that it pumps 2.4 gpm and that discharge vessel at same level as receiving vessel

If you are only filling a small engine tank, it will fill it up fast enough. That said, it would be nice if they had real world measurements in their ad. Thanks for watching!

Hello new friend! I was going back and forth on this because I just mounted my generator in my 5th wheel on a slide, but the compartment door keeps the can from getting to the tank. I've heard good things so I ordered it, but hadn't gotten it yet.

When it works, it is great. Longevity is questionable though. I am considering taking another chance on the new version. Hope it works! Thanks for watching.

I have had a few of this style of fuel transfer pumps. Every one of them had the filler tube fail and start leaking. The pump itself works fine but man they should have a better quality hose that will last.

Good Job. Thumbs down are clueless. They just have to be negative. I purchased one almost like it that uses D cells. I misplaced it or one of my helpers stored it at their house. Worked great.

Thanks! It ultimately died a little too quickly in my opinion, but I liked it while it lasted. I once had a guy take me to task on one of my lawn tractor videos for not knowing the exact name of a "Spring Locking Cotter Pin". Some people just can't be happy. Thanks again!

Just bought one for my boat! Question is how long is the filler hose? worried it won't reach with the gas can in the boat.

***** Hello, sorry this reply is so late. I was on vacation. I assume you have your answer by now, but in case others are wondering, the hose is about 27" from the pump head to the tip of the nozzle. Thanks for watching.

Is there some kind of filter on the product to prevent debris that may already be in the container from being sucked up and transferred?
@DavinDesborough
@DavinDesborough 3 жыл бұрын
No, it needs clean fuel. That said, if you were to secure some cheese cloth or similar over the end with a zip tie, it could be a basic filter for larger contaminates.

I truly feel everyone's pain when pump after pump, after pump continues to fail anywhere from 1 month to 4 months use. I purchased an extended Canopy Protection plan and have just notified the manufacturer of my 3rd failure in the past 8 months. When it works it is a beautiful thing but that is shortlived. If you are looking for reliability look somewhere else. Pump is a total engineering failure but as long as there are suckers like myself out there they will keep churning them out...

+Richard Pacacha I may have to revise this video to concur with you position. I went to fill the tractor today and it wouldn't pump. I don't have any fresh batteries around so I can't rule that out yet, but they look good on my multi-meter. Will update after I get a bit of time to get to the bottom of this. I don't want to promote something if it isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I've had mine for a month and it quits working when I'm emptying a 53 litre gas container. I think it's an overheating problem as funny as that sounds. It probably has a low tolerance for heat.

How many times can you fill up before you need new Batteries

First, I do not recommend this pump as it does not seem to last. If you do get it and it stops working, you might be able to fix it by disconnecting the fill sensor. I was able to revive mine after it died by doing that, but did too much damage to the housing for it to be usable in the process of figuring that out. You might be able to cut the wires at the end of the hose to fix it (there are wires that run the length of the hose down to the sensor). As for your question. I used rechargeable batteries almost from the start and just threw them in the charger every 4-5 uses so they would always be charged. Given that, I can't really say how long good alkaline batteries would last. Good luck and thanks for watching.

Pouring gas into a generator is easy. Getting it out after power is restored isn't. People are kidding themselves if they think they can drain a generator from the outlet valve because the valve/filter assembly that threads into the tank is purposely elevated so that it doesn't suck in debris from the bottom of the tank plus it takes forever. One can quickly siphon out most of it but the siphon breaks as you get toward the bottom. This pump would be perfect. Thanks for the review

So I realize your comment was 4 years ago, but anyway… umm. Why bother taking gas out of your generator when you’re gonna use it again. Doesn’t make much sense

Do you still have the adapters? It should work with most any can if so. I used it on Scepter cans. amzn.to/2WuQWHC To be transparent, mine died after about 11 months. I am considering trying the 3rd gen version though.

If you look at the end of the nozzle, there are wires that lead to some sort of sensor. I think that is what fails. I figured that out too late (I had broken another part messing with it), but I think that if you disassemble the unit and remove the wires that lead down the delivery tube, it will work again.

It may be worth trying this: look for the wires that run down the fuel tube. I have a theory that the sensor that detects when the tank is full is going bad. If you can cut one of the wires, the circuit will always be open and the pump may run. You'll just have to watch it closely to be sure it doesn't overflow. I had destroyed mine while taking it apart before the idea came to me. I was at least able to get the pump to run again after cutting those wires. Worth a shot. Thanks for watching!

@@DavinDesborough yes, Davin I have the gen 3. I was wondering with the wire cut and hanging won't that cause an issue with sparking? Should I just remove the wire entirely?
@DavinDesborough
@DavinDesborough 5 жыл бұрын
@@marjoriematty3989 Yes, the best thing to do would be to see if you can open the box part and cut the wires at the controller board. That way there is no stray power in the fuel line. I am half tempted to buy a new one just so I can experiment on it. Good luck!

Simple solution to what ails this pump, go to Harbor Freight and spend $8.99 (or about $7.50 if you get the 20% off coupon from hfqpdb.com) and you're done. Works on 2 D-cell batteries and lasts longer than this $65 ripoff. Hint- when you're done pumping gas run some used motor oil thru it, it'll make the seals last longer. At least with HF if it only lasts a season you're out $7.50, not $65.00. Have a good one! 👍
