Served as a gunner on a Leo 2A4 in the 90's, always loved hearing our Leo's 1 engines purring by from time to time.

Very nice review. In the timeline of TY the "Bundeswehr" (West german army) fielded the Leopard 1 in the "Panzergrenadierbrigaden". A Panzergrenadierbrigade had 1 battailon of Leopard 1s (and 1 coy in the mixed 1st Btn of the Brigade). The "Panzerbrigaden" had 2 battaillons of Leopard 2s (and 2 coys in the mixed 1st Btn of the Brigade).

OK. So Leo 1 in the tank battalions of Panzer Grenadier formations and in the Recon formations. Thanks for the clarification.

This is a good kit and I like the extra turret. The review was great and very helpful. Thanks for sharing it.

The two turrets was a nice touch.

These look pretty rad. Leopard is one of the more modern tanks I'm interested in. Might have to pick up one of these, just to have.
@FogofWar4 жыл бұрын
And I would second your call for Battlefront to release a plastic Centurion. Unfortunately the probable release schedule is several years. They have lots of late war WWII as well as the next wave of Team Yankee modern stuff scheduled for release. They did announce a Checkpoint Charlie TY timeline plan with M48s and Centurion, but if it ever happens it will be a long way off.

It's a nice addition to have the later extended turret used by the Leopard 1 in the 80s
@FogofWar4 жыл бұрын
It is good you have enough parts to build both turrets. A nice option.
@DominusRexDK4 жыл бұрын
yeah a small correction in 85 the Leopard 1 was still in front line service with the Bundeswehr. Leopard 2s for Panzer Divs and Leopard 1 for PzGren Divs (overly simplified) also yes, the A5 came in the 80´s, but I would have worded it differently, as mid to late 80´s.

It was a nice touch.

I think the Dutch version is the A1A2 , as on the A5 the sights were on top instead of the side bulges on the turret .

You might be right at that. My bad! Thanks for pointing it out.

They are generally good. I'm looking forward to see the Challenger and Warrior for the British.

Not experienced with the nato countries outside the big 3, but with panzer 1 I think they can go toe to toe with Warsaw pact t55 horde lists. A troop of 3-4 putting out 2 shots each. And you'll only really have to dedicate 2 troops of shooting at a 55 company if they are running the higher tank counts. Fighting soviet t64 lists does seem like a back foot uphill kinda fight though

My Australian Leopard AS1s got rolled by East German T-55AM2s. There was just *too many* of them, and I had a poor round of shooting and they had a good turn with Spigots and it was burning Leopards everywhere! Some days the Dice Gods do not smile...

now we just need some M51 Isherman plastic kit for fate of A Nation, nice review man.
@FogofWar4 жыл бұрын
That would be nice, but not holding my breath. I would like to see a plastic Centurion too.
@deleonfrancis604 жыл бұрын
Fog of War I’m not worry about the Centurion tank since you can get them for the Jordanian army set five of them and you can add two more to make a whole tank Company

BFs kits are pretty amazing

Generally they are pretty good. There's the occasional error or odd engineering choice, but they are overall a quality producer. They certainly get a lot of my money to feed my plastic addiction!

Really nice and complete video, those australians leopards made a long voyage for sure, or were they made in australia?
@FogofWar4 жыл бұрын
As far as I can tell they were built in Germany. So in Team Yankee terms they are operating close to where they were built. They just took he long way around to eventually get back there...

Hi, how would you rate these against the Plastic Soldier Leo 1s?
@FogofWar3 жыл бұрын
I do have a review of the PSC Leopard I on the channel. I like both kits.
@john88benson3 жыл бұрын
@@FogofWar I watched both, from what I can tell it looks like the detail and general fit and finish is nicer on the Team Yankee offering, that said the gun mantlet geometry appears better on the PSC version and the ability to add full crew (not just the TC) is a nice bonus.
@FogofWar3 жыл бұрын
That's pretty much it. The BF kit was a bit simpler and easy to assemble. I liked some of the shape of the PSC kit better. But either is good. I ended up with all PSC for my Australians, but a the BF kit would have been just as good.
@john88benson3 жыл бұрын
@@FogofWar Thanks for the feedback. Honestly, I have enough on the workbench that I really shouldn't dabble in any new projects but I might pick up a box anyway.
@tando62664 жыл бұрын
If you had to pick this kit or the psc kit which one?
@FogofWar4 жыл бұрын
That's a hard question. The BF Leopard is a simpler build and comes with two complete turrets. The PSC shape is good - particularly the mantlet. You can't go wrong either way. My Aussies have PSC Leopards, but I would happily have BF Leopards. You can't lose.
