@@kevOzilla Why would you do that? This is a 1440p monitor, PS5 outputs at 4k not 1440p and you basically need to "trick" it to output a 4k signal on a 1440p monitor. It would be really dumb to spend $500-600 on a 27-32" 1440p monitor when you could get a 55" 4K TV with far better HDR, contrast and brightness for the same price. Getting a 1440p monitor will not allow you to get the most out of your PS5. It would honestly be a waste imo.

I also got my first high refresh rate LCD recently, but I went with a Dell S3220DGF, 32" 2K VA panel, whihc does 165Hz with 10bit colour over DP or 144Hz 8bit if you're using HDMI. plus the stand is height adjustable which was important for me. In any case a high refresh rate monitor is easily the most significant upgrade I've done to my PC since I got my first SSD, it's well worth the money.

that's exactly my experience with using a high refresh rate monitor. It's been incredibly hard getting used to or enjoying any 60Hz monitors. Everything I've been hearing about this monitor from review videos have basically told me that I actually want this monitor though.

I have the Pixio P7 Prime version and pretty much looks identical. I bought two so good they are. Plus fantastic DCIP3 color and a 10b panel (8b FRC) all the way up to 165hz even in RGB mode. 12b color is for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Smart focus is for when you want to watch a video in a PiP fashion while still “working.” :) REC709 Is a more “professional” color mode/space over sRGB. They are indeed different. REC709 has a wider/shifted color space over sRGB. Still odd sRGB is missing. Finally as hot as 144 or 165hz is, 120hz is plenty of speed and is a clean multiple of 24, 30, and 60hz. No frame skipping needed. Now this of course mean less with Freesync/Gsync support but they only work down to 40-48hz. The Pixio is around $300 US as well.
@UltimateAlgorithm
@UltimateAlgorithm 4 жыл бұрын
It doesn't only work to 40-48hz. High refresh monitors support low framerate compensation. This means when the content is below the refresh rate they will be doubled or tripled. 30 fps will refresh at 60hz twice and 20 fps will refresh at 60hz trice. So it basically work up to unplayable framerates. Edit: also some player, such as MPV supports VRR. When I watch video at 24 fps my monitor refreshes at 72hz, since the lowest supported is 50hz. This is done by doing three refreshes per frame. So it still a perfect sync without any dropping or skipping.

I actually got this to watch dvds/blu-rays. I was looking for a device that was good quality but didn't have any smart TV features or access to TV programs. I find that stuff off-putting and distracting. I was looking for a dumb TV but I found it very hard to find any modern ones with good resolution. This is perfect. Excellent speakers for the price (£270) and form factor. It also has a remote which almost none of the other options I looked at had. 144hz means it works perfectly with films and it has g sync for other refresh rates. Perfect The added extra for me is that as and when I get a PC, it will be fantastic for that too.

@@philscomputerlab Best of times, indeed :) You guys know nothing. I spent most of my summer vacations at my grandparents' house (mid to late '90-ties). The old man had purchased a black and white TV (old tech, but proudly assembled in my country :) )where we did lots of gaming on our NES/Famicom clones. Even a couple of years later when he got an up-to-date color tv, he would not let us use it as not to break it (those cloned consoles were abysmal indeed, so he might have had some legitimate concerns). I clearly remember the black and white aesthetics of the 8-bit games and when I return to them via emulators or KZbin, there is always "something off". Lots of those games look great in color, but so many (those with poor combination of colors) just look a lot nicer in black and white. Back home I got a 16-bit IBM clone PC (prodly made in my country, hurray!) with a green monochrome screen. Does anyone remember Alley Cat, Test Drive, Digger, Space War? Yeah, that's what I'm talking about - and I don't recall seeing a video from you, Phil, concernign those earliest DOS games. Once I tried to run a few of these but DosBox would not help there. Later on, I would get to my father's office where I had a faster DOS machine with a black and white screen (and no other sound than a PC Speaker) at my disposal. The smooth animation of Aladdin got me so hooked up - that was the best thing I had seen on a computer screen so far.

I was expected more from this brand... Even sound regulator is glitchy (i have one like that on sony cassete player, and yes it's that old, when tape was the thing, and it become this way only after 20 years of working, before that it was working as intended, another on 15yo samsung microwave) I always hear how BenQ is a good brand (and it's usually a bit better than some of them) But just like others, a lot of words, but same quality, and works only until warranty goes of... But this one is broken even from beginning... (I do type this message on "FP91G+", yes, it's still working, cuz i replace almost every capacitor and some of transistors. I'm weird, I'm tech freak, I have a museum of old hardware, and none of them is turned out to work as promoted at release date)

Am I the only one who finds 27" to be too small for 1440p? The pixels are too small and it hurts my eyes.
@UltimateAlgorithm
@UltimateAlgorithm 4 жыл бұрын
Smartphone pixels are even smaller. 27" is the perfect size for 1440p. Larger than that you'll need 4K to maintain pixel density. Below 27" just feel too small.

I am getting this to go with the Xbox series X, Can you manually change the refresh rate to 120 or 60Hz on the monitor without using a computer?

After playing this on my Xbox one x, I can confirm that it allows you to switch to a 1440p/120hz mode on the Xbox one X (even tho not many games support 120hz on the one) so it should allow you to do 1440p/120hz on the series X
