Does the Blu-ray disc included with this also have a 1080p version of the movie, or is it just special features?

The blu ray special features disc does not include the main film.

Disappointed as a person with hearing loss that the supplemental bluray has no subtitles. Should be standard these days

I agree. Subtitles in general should be on all releases. I know several people who watch stuff at night and just like having subtitles on as well. I know it can be expensive but I think companies should always offer them.

This release is really expensive if you can find it at all. I already have the Synapse Blu-ray so I’m not sure if it’s worth the upgrade.

I just watched the 4K with HDR and it is the most beautiful I think the movie will ever look. If you are a fan, it's worth every penny

Nice review as usual. Got this today and it definitely looks great. I do feel like it's a bit lost on me since I don't have a 4K TV or hookup or a good sound system. I will eventually get a better system, but it's nice to grab these when they come out and are available. It's nice to see the smaller companies doing such a great job with the classic films like this.

You're still getting a great presentation either way. Really happy you picked it up too! If anything I want to support Synapse and Vinegar Syndrome with them attempting to try 4K releases. I'm still surprised we're here already. I actually didn't think any of the smaller labels would try for another year.

Does this 4k edition also come with a Blu Ray edition?

It doesn't unfortunately. It has a Blu-ray that contains the extras but not the movie. I understand why this is since they still want to sell the Blu-ray edition but I still wish it had both for people who did not already have the Blu-ray.

I was at Best Buy recently. They still have BluRay and DVD bargain bins by their checkout registers. Bought a couple of bargain DVDs for $3.99 each. Funny I picked up both The Terminator and Jingle All The Way which star Arnold Schwarzenegger. Two 2015 edition DVDS so hoping they upscale decently,but they were $3.99 each. :)

Hopefully they do but I imagine so. Upscaling is so much more impressive now than it used to be.

So now I'll just have to keep it in my Dario Argento "section" in my movie collection room.

Great review, Richard, very informative. I'm always pleased when these older Horror movies get 4K releases, as they look great on the format. I have the 4K restoration from Umbrella Entertainment, which looks fantastic. Good to hear that Synapse did a great job with the 4K release. I've always been impressed with there Blu ray releases.

@@RichardDiaz I still remember getting the original Halloween on 4K and watching it was like I was experiencing the film for the first time, it looks amazing. It was then I knew that I made a good choice investing in 4K.

So true. The thing I love too is since 4K is the digital equivalent of 35mm film a lot of films are getting full restorations in a 1:1 way that weren't getting before thanks to UHD. Plus for us movie fans it's an amazing format. I've wished for 4K at home for years.

I bought the "Suspiria" DVD with a girl's screaming face partly in shadow on the cover between 15 and 20 years ago, and I didn't make it past the roof scene because that kind of gore is too much for me. I only recently tried watching it again on the recommendation of coolduder and thought it was very good overall, though I didn't watch the part of the roof scene that bothered me the first time, and I also will not be watching the scene with the blind guy and his dog walking among buildings that looked like they were ripped out of Rome or Washington D.C. again, for the same reason, of course. Unfortunately for me, Lucio Fulci's "Zombie" is the other big Italian movie that was recommended somewhere, possibly the same site where I'd read such great things about "Suspiria", and so at around the same time (at least during the same span of a few years), I also bought a DVD of that which was apparently released by a company called Shriek Show and hated it. Of course, this isn't one of those movies which I have a problem with because of their messages or the ideologies put forward in them. It's just that it did not evoke a positive response in me, which is something that goes beyond and deeper than considered, intellectualized opinion and is more akin to whether or not a given person likes the taste, smell, etc. of a given thing.

I know how you feel. I admit I have a high tolerance for some of the more extreme movies and at times I also forget that others don't. I remember showing a girlfriend at the time the beginning of Zombie and after the attack on the cop on the boat she was pretty much done with the movie. lol

I'm thinking of getting a 4k blu ray player just for this release. I have a 4k tv never bothered to get 4k player because very few cult films are released in 4k.

I'm hoping as 4K UHD releases become less expensive to produce that more companies will put them out so we can get some more cult films released in 4K. It is nice to see some companies like Synapse with Suspiria and Vinegar Syndrome with Tammy And The T-Rex testing the 4K waters. If you get a player and Suspiria definitely let me know your thoughts. I think you'll love it.

Luckily they aren't limited. I think they're being printed in limited runs at a time but the overall run isn't limited so luckily there isn't any hurry. It's pricey so definitely keep an eye out for sales. But I think you'll be happy once you get it. Though there is nothing wrong the Blu-ray.

Watching your video in 1080p HD now on an HD monitor. Windows 10 with an HD monitor makes a world of difference watching youtube and videos on a PC! More clarity!

@@RichardDiaz Seemed like The Blue Underground Special Edition DVD was the best with the extras. I could always make out the actors just fine,but every thing in the background of the stars like,Jessica Harper,was a bit fuzzy.

That's why I'm keeping my DVD since a lot of the extras weren't ported over but I know Blue Underground is pretty protective of their extras.
