To all you young, up and coming guitarists out there, here’s a little tip! The first thing most important in your arsenal is an amp! A decent one! A valve/tube amp! Preferably, Stereo! Next on list, speakers! A pair of switchable 2x12’s! One set for your crunch and gain, the other for your cleans! Think of your pedal, totally, as your pre amp section! Turn off the cab sims! Then see what you get! In my experience, no matter what “Digital” effects processor you purchase, it will never sound Analogue until you convert it into the Analogue domain! I’ve had a number of these boxes at all price points and they all sound pretty naff without tweaking! I’ve since sold them on, but I still have my valve amp and speakers! I just ordered one of these yesterday to tide me over while my rig is in for service, with discount, it was £235! That’s one hell of a piece of kit for the price! An excellent practice tool with excellent effects! It’s worth the money just for the effects section, looper and drum machine! In my opinion, from the demo’s I’ve seen, it’s a no brainer! And my last tip! Stop trying to sound like other guitarists! Be you! Discover your own sound! Just like they did! Thanks for the review! Keep a pickin an a grinnin!

Comparison's to a real amps don't mean much here. Especially when tube amps all don't sound the same! If you want to review the unit, find it's good points. What you could use it for as far as recording. Test it with (2) tube amps in stereo, as well as the XLR's to the console... I don't think you've given this unit a fair review.

Can this be plugged straight into a traditional cab, like a 4x12 or 2x12? Or must it always go into another amp 1st?

I don’t think it can be plugged into a cab since it would not be able to power it but you can use a FRFR speaker

The valeton gp200 has 8 buttons. It's right at $300. It's a better buy in my honest opinion.

It has a noise gate on it and it wasn't being used in this demo that I could see.
