Hint Hint: We use Play HT on our channel for ... things ;) ... I recommend not using any of the new versions. 2.0 (NOT gargamel) is perfect for conversational dialogue but you'll go through at least 5 generations per line depending a lot on the quality of the audio you use to clone a voice. The newer versions are smoother and higher quality but more robotic. Lemon Labs never sounded right for any of our voices but Play HT has been consistently reliable for everything we need. I hate that it's so expensive but we haven't found a better alternative.

Elevenlabs needs to have a subscription level between its Creator and Pro plans. I am not a fan of subscription services that force people into the higher plan using a gap pricing model.

Great video! I'm impressed that you included the large language disparity issue, as most ignore that part. I normally use ElevenLabs, (speech-to-speech), but for my current Bruce Lee project I had to convert to text-to-speech so that I can use PlayHT for a lot of it as they handle certain accents a gazillion times better 😱. Text-to-speech requires a lot of finessing, but when you have to get the voice/accent just right, the choices are made for you... So it depends on your needs... Again, great video, and thanks for helping out those of us who are scared of pythons! 😅...

Are you saying that PlayHT is better than Elevenlabs for Text-to-speech, especially when considering accents or copying the minute voice expressions of the original speaker?

You have skipped over the voice library which I think is the most interesting feature of elevenlabs since you can earn money sharing your voice there. And you can find thousands of voices as well in this library.

Education needs a little hype and emotion, otherwise the speaker sounds boring! Play HT sounds better for education. It's also marketed as better for education. So, I think that your judgment about education was not accurate.
