This game looked devastating in the announcement trailer and they didn't even showed gameplay. It's good to know that the gameplay delivers in that front. Awesome review. I also watched the first "wolf" version :P Mistakes happen, don't be so harsh to yourself about it.

Just found out this was from 2021 but Lost Words: Beyond the Page was a beautiful journey through a girl dealing with her thoughts about her ill and eventually dying grandmother. Very moving.

Based on your review, I'm definitely going to play this...and I'm going to drown in my tears 😭 for the QOTD, Dysmantle was the game that most surprised me this year. It had a lot of elements that are unusual for survival management games and I know I won't forget it any time soon.

.. I was very excited to finally play the witness but was sooooooo disappointed by it. The absolutely cryptic solution to many of its puzzles is ridiculous. If it was not for KZbin I would have stopped playing a long time ago ...

Oh yeah, if your brain is not good at processing those types of cryptic puzzles, then The Witness is hard to get through. I am with you in that regard, as my brain just wasn't on the same page as the game. I had to look up some of the solutions and then deconstruct them, trying to figure out how they got to that solution. I eventually finished the game, but it took me a lot of time and frustration. I have a buddy who whipped right through it, because his brain was on the same wavelength as the game. Just shows how we're wired differently, I suppose.

@@DefunctGames ... I needed help deciphering what symbols meant. Once I knew, I at least had an idea on what to do. The game should at least tell you that ..

Does look like an interesting game, that's for sure. May have to look into it. As for the question, may have to go with one that certainly was not released in 2022, or should say, originally not released in 2022, as the English version did come out in 2022, but it for a Sega Saturn game, so yeah, and that being Yumimi Mix Remix. And what did surprise me about it? How much fun I had with that crazy storyline. I'm not sure if I could sum up a story like that with how nuts it is, but was fun, and shocked it never got an English version until some fans took the game and translated it. Thank goodness they did, because I enjoyed it on my emulator.

It was a big (and embarrassing) flub on my part, and I knew that people would bring it up every single time they stumbled onto my review. I don't want everything in my review to be overshadowed by my mistake, and I feared that's what would happen.

Let's be honest. Climate Change Propaganda the Video Game

That's not the message of this game. This is a game about how humans have encroached on the forests these wild animals call home, making it hard for foxes, wolves, bears, etc. to survive. Even if you take climate change out of the equation, this would still be happening and the story wouldn't change.

It's okay to acknowledge that our actions have real-world consequences. Not every game needs to be escapist entertainment.

@@DefunctGames The problem with this type of preachy propaganda in the guise of video games is that it glosses over & ignores the fact that the measures being taken by governments across the globe are equally, if not more, damaging to the environment. To power electric cars, or to have enough solar & wind farms to power a city it eats up land. Moreover, the chemicals that leak from these things after being disposed kill species, and have the potential to kill people.
