We’ve a MX110 at home in Ireland with a Quickie loader on it. Possibly the best tractor that ever came about the place. 12,000 hours on it a not a spanner put to it other then when it’s been serviced. Perfect tractor for loader work. A great all rounder. Handles a Kverneland 4 furrow reversible with ease like no other 110hp tractor. Never lays down and all the bad manners and abuse it gets off us at home. Walks around other tractors power wise (especially new ones!) Don’t make em like they used to!!!!

Hello from Finland! I had mx 100 for several years. Last year i changed it to a bigger one. The Case had been driven for 8,000 hours at that time without major problems. A few electrical parts had been replaced, the mechanical parts were working well. The only thing I miss is that engine sound!

Funny mentioning the anti slip additive, it applies to wet disk brakes too. Discovered this the hard way with wet brakes in a manitou forklift, changed brake pack seals, manual called for standard 80w90, the noise when braking was awful! 😂 Customer never wanted to spend anymore and it was several years later I found out there was a friction modifier you had to add but not stated in the manual. Universal tractor transmission oil usually has these additives already in and has a gl4 rating so try to use it where I can even though its thinner than 80w90.

Guy I work for has a MX120 had those same shift issues before with skipping a gear on the 1-4 usually would get to skipping 3rd and going straight to 4th good to learn more since I am used to all John Deere.

Yeah, check those two solenoids, if they are the square type, just replace them both -- you can test for magnetism on the end of the solenoid to see if it is working -- the shift switch works two relays that operate the solenoids -- two solenoids give the four shifts, so different combinations of the solenoids -- dont need to rune the engine, only key on

Had a buddy take a ford f250 to the dealer for service. They did rear end oil change and forgot to add the friction modifier and possibly the oil. On the way home, one side of the rear end locked up and about ran him off the road. Limped it back to the dealer and a week later got a new rear axle completely.
@allanvaneste6039
@allanvaneste6039 4 жыл бұрын
Ya, the Ford limited slip rear ends were notorious for making noise when cornering. My 2011 F-150 had the clutch packs changed out twice under warranty. Once they were off warranty I was told by the mechanic he took the clutch disks out and soaked thema in friction modifier over night and they were good to go again for a while. Don't know if Ford ever got the problem solved as I now order my trucks with the locker rear diff.

Those electrical issues with those loose connections, are they sometimes called "end terminals?" I think those have been notorious for failures on both case and new Holland. At least with one of our tractors, it wouldn't have a problem starting, but that's all you could do... would show a bunch of fault codes saying everything is "offline". Bought a new end terminals plug for $15 and off it went.

The old 3000 series MF main engine harness was a plug that was held together with a rubber grommet. I watched the other guy in the shop replace 4 computers at $3000 a pop until another customer asked what he was doing. He walked over to the plug (back of the valve cover) and pushed it together again and said "There, fixed" and walked away. I will never forget the look on his face.

Rich I have a question : I have never heard you talk about the recent agricultural machines which are too complicated and even illegal to repair yourself, where do you stand in regards to these ? Are they a future threat to your job ? would you still be able to do certain things but not others ? What do you think about the "right to repair" movement ? Just wanted to know what were your thoughts about all this. Loved the video by the way, even if I have almost no chance to ever put it to use, I just enjoy learning !
@kart70
@kart70 2 жыл бұрын
Oddly enough, a dealer tech is going to answer your question. For me personally, I am very much pro repair it yourself. I am not a fan of the tier 4 leave you on the side of the road technology. It makes my life harder because I constantly have to deal with angry customers with unreliable machinery that I have to babysit until I can find the source of the intermittent fault.
@kart70
@kart70 2 жыл бұрын
On top of that, in a family of mechanics, I am the only dealership mechanic. I've had a chance to preview some of these "universal" programs and I find them inadequate. There's got to be a better way. Many of these computerized machines are approaching vintage status and these aftermarket solutions are not capable to deal with it.

Kevin's a chill guy, I really enjoyed the video! Right off the bat he's got the basics down of talking to the camera, he can pretty much do his own thing while you do yours and just push more content out that way. Kevin's personality isn't far off from Rich's so it's not a harsh change for us and flows well with the existing library of videos and Rich. Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see more videos

I'm in heaven here. I grew up somewhat a city slicker but I've always been a plow boy at heart. This is my new DG #1! I do mobile mechanic work for some of the tomato farmers here in Florida & although these guys all run Juan Deeres, I'm sure 1 day you'll put out a vid that will save my bacon. Thanks in advance, LOVE the new channel!!!

Unless you are in EU where there's no Uncle Sam protection. And emission laws actually apply :) And it just makes noise.
