Back in the days of two channel Onkyo receivers, their outputs were all discrete, which to my understanding, allowed driving loads as low as 4 Ohm's. I still have a TX-870 Integra, and a TX810, and they will drive speakers that low. Pretty cool to see a true 2 channel unit today, even if it is all black!

Black / Green display with an aluminum heat sink. Beautiful!

I bought one from Crutchfield about four years ago, did not use it very much and it died last week. I never got the wifi to work after hours of monkeying around. Went back to my 1989 Denon integrated amp and tuner and get my butt off the chair to adjust the volume.

Struggling with pulling the main board in order to replace the speaker relay. Do I need to remove all the stacked boards in order to get to the back side of the main board?

Thx for the review on this amp.

Hi!I am happy to find this video because you show what is inside! I use a simply receiver onkyo tx-8255 and I think the power amp is the same as this one. I would like to change my unit to onkyo a-9030 but I am afraid there will be no full bodied sound like these receivers. The 9030 has smaller heat sink but the same 8200 uF caps.I heard about the 9030 has thinner sound,less bass. What do you think about it? Peter

What do you think about Onkyo TX 8030? I have a chance to buy one but I'm not sure if it's worth it

They're ok. Not good if you have 4 ohm speakers. I'm liking Yamahas newer stuff better than Onkyo

I like the digital inputs. Not sure if there's true tape monitor for my equalizer which I need for headphones since my hearing is so bad. I don't bother to EQ for speakers. I'd just blow up the tweeters.

Will you get a better, fuller sound by adding an amp to the pre-outs? If so, what do you recommend for a good budget amp?

Emotiva or some used Niles, 👍

why I stick with my 1997 Yamaha 2 channel rx596 75watts 8 ohms but I play in 4ohm load so probably over 100watts love it scared to buy another new one did in 01 a pioneer it had no bass very weak

When you play any amp on the 4ohm setting they put out less power... look it up!!!!!!!!!
@stevenwymor13985 жыл бұрын
@@justingeraldi2304 you got that backwards dude.
@justingeraldi23045 жыл бұрын
Let me fully explain,, I should have worded my prior statement better.. What I'm referring to is the 4 or 8 ohm switch setting on the back of some stereos,receivers and amplifiers,,what that switch does is lower the voltage to the output transistors,,,which causes it to make less power and lesson the chance of overheating your amplifier,,,always leave the switch in the 8 ohm position for full power...example is that the rail voltage to the output transistors in the 8 ohm setting can be around 71volts,,,but in the 4 ohm setting the transistors rail voltage may only be 56 volts.. The switch is for UL certification and safety,,,don't believe me look it up You are also correct in that a 4 ohm speaker will cause the amplifier to put out more power than using an 8 ohm speaker..

Jordan, do you think that changing the capacitors by larger 10000uf would improve the sound of this unit?
@JordanPier8 жыл бұрын
No, and you would be putting much more stress on the main power relay and bridge rectifier.

can you control the pre voltage out to external amp ?
@JordanPier6 жыл бұрын
pretty sure it's a fixed output
@justingeraldi23045 жыл бұрын
@@JordanPier pre out in itself means the voltage varies with the volume knob,,,on this model it has normal left and right preouts and it has zone 2 outputs that can be switched from fixed to variable in the setup menu,,,also for zone 2 bass,treble and balance is seperately adjustable,,,so it has 2 sets of preouts!!! If you wanted a fixed audio signal any input that has line out will work,,,example vcr out

Will this work with an audiosource 10 band eq? currently using a dra-325r denon that has pb and tape rcas?

Nope. Work on mainly old stuff. Pre 1990. Like your denon

Onkyo advertises this creampuff at 80w/ch into 8 ohms full bandwidth. Do I believe it? Not a chance.
