Following your excellent review on these wagons I ordered 3 twin packs (6 wagons) of Rail adventure. These arrived yesterday and thankfully (from you) I was forewarned about the brake shoes catching on the wheels, mine were doing this and really causing wagons not to run freely. I tried your tip about pressing on brake shoe housing and this did work but the housing bars sprung out again. So a drastic solution was done, the brake shoes cannot really be seen so I removed the wheels and took out the whole brake shoe housing, it really is poorly designed. I replaced the wheels and the difference in the running quality is drastically improved, the whole rake just glides along now. I fitted Hunt close coupling and these are working well, I had to use a Hunt stepped standard on end wagon that connects to loco as the NEM pocket was too high, I wish manufacturers would standardise the coupling heights. Keep producing these very useful and informative videos, I really appreciate your reviews, Bill.

Thanks Bill and thanks for sharing your experience. Great to hear you've got sorted in the end. I'm just finishing a video on a Heljan 'alternative' and the wheel/bogie/brake assembly is a lot better. More anon.

Hi, great review of these wagons, I couldn’t get hold of any Heljan Rail Adventure wagons, I got hold of some Rivarossi Rail Adventure wagons instead, they are very nice indeed, a lot more detailed in my opinion and they are very smooth, they look great with the Hornby Rail Adventure HST set, thanks for sharing.

Thanks Stuart. Sounds good. I hope to check out the Revolution Trains cargowaggons in the next few weeks and compare them to the Heljans. Will be my first Revolution Trains experience.

Great detailed review (again). Have ordered the twin barrier pack and will look to remove buffers and use hunt magnet couplings to replicate some semblence of their coupling to EMUs etc.

@@EuviRail brilliant thank you so much for that. what mk 3 coaches should i get. i know sliding doors would be ideal.

@@James-ih4gz Hi James, finding suitable donor coaches (at a reasonable price) for re-spraying can be a challenge. Rails have Hornby MK3 Sliding Door coaches on offer which might be worth a look: railsofsheffield.com/bundles/125/rake-of-4-cross-country-trains-by-arriva-mk3-sliding-door-coaches
