Never heard anyone complain that equipment was too adjustable and adaptive to size….

As an arborist this thing is so lightweight for donning and doffing. Those adjustments look great to me

Also, if he reread the manual, he would see that the book says to set its strength to a level where your arms fall to the side by body weight alone. He cranked this thing too high to make a problem from nothing.

Totally agree. Why complain about that. Shows a lack of informed reviewing

yeah him complaining about not being able to share the suit is by far the strangest thing anyone has ever said. does this guy share his clothes with his coworkers too? someone is paying this guy to give a bad review or he's so stupid that he should never be allowed to work construction.

Yeah you’re not going to be sharing this thing you’re going to set it for yourself once and forget it.

I’ve gotten the use a demo unit from our local Hilti dealer for couple days. I’ve had 4 shoulder surgeries and I’m missing 2 rotator cuffs on my right should. This was a huge game changer for me worked 8 hr doing over head work with no problems. Without it I couldn’t hold my arms up for more that 1-2 minutes before fatigue sets in.

This exo was built for "overhead work"... (people shooting tracks, drilling holes, holding a camera in docks for a long period of time, etc.) So reviewing it from a "hands down" stand point is kinda weird. Like "This car is shit! It doesn't even mow the lawn"! Duh!!!! 🤦‍♂️

I would love to try one since Ive lost 95% of overhead strength in my dominant arm due to injury and multiple surgeries

Looks like you are using it wrong. The tension in the system should allow for your arms to fall with gravity. Exo is ment to assist your arms - not carry the load.

Exactly what I was thinking. He mentioned that he has it dialed all the way up which is likely not what he's meant to do with it. Exo-suits vests and skeletons are in no way load bearing they're only meant to support the body and help prevent injury. Obviously with the exception being exo-prosthesis systems which do have a degree of structural capacity

The ExoActive exoskeleton from Festool is an "active" suit that adjusts to where you are trying to put your arms and not fight you. I haven't tried it, and it's probably a lot more expensive given the Festool name.

Duh, this is a tool that is made for overhead applications, if you are doing something where your arms are down you wouldn't need it! The adjustments are not hard to do at all and well you want it to fit you. You wouldn't use a drill if you needed a saw.
@F1fan007
@F1fan007 Жыл бұрын
Excellent points. Hopefully they design some sort of cam into the system that relieves the assist incrementally the more you lower your arms. Or have a button that would turn off the assist when it isn’t needed

I was hoping this was a powered suit that assisted movement strength and not just a support sling.

It is useful for reducing damage to the shoulders and elbows. It doesn't give extra strength. But think of a house painter with years of painting ceilings, the shoulders are damaged before retirement, for this guy this thing will be a blessing

We are pretty far away from affordable "powered" suits of any kind lol but we may see a few more of these ergonomic mechanics based exosuit designs that help distribute weight and what not

Interesting. Adjustments are made for your size. So adjust once... most people are doing the same thing over and over again. Why would you be switching out sweaty gear? The cost is cheap, buy for your employees.

So, the comments calling you out aside. The use of this "suit" is a case specific tool. If your given such a tool, it shouldn't be swapped person to person. It should be a one person wears it and have a team of wearers so there is no need to swap out. Secondly, unless you're alone there shouldn't be any need to take it off to adjust the tension, just ask someone to do it for you. Complaining about having to set all the adjustments the first time wearing it is just dumb, unless it was custom fitted to YOU SPECIFICALLY ahead of time and no one else, it's a one suit fits many if not all. I know this video is a year old, but do better next time when doing a review of an "exo-suit" type product.

Dude, if you arent using your arms overhead all day its not for you. Why would you ding it for not using it. Thats like complaining about drills like "this drill works great a lot of the time, but sometimes i just want it to drill without pulling the trigger, so it falls flat for me"

Why is the hilti exoskeleton only 1400 and the festool is 22k? I know Hilti can't compete with festool when it comes to quality build products but just curious why such a massive difference in price
