This palette was very nice. Thank you for the information on the possibility of mold. Here in the East everything is so wet. Yes, I remember the hazards of moving up in altitude there in Colorado. I have had nail polish burst open in my purse years ago. We try to avoid any problems we can. It's nice to know what to watch for when using new art supplies. Have a good week.

Hi JoAnne! I suspect the key to using gouache from the tubes when painting en plein air is to dispense very little at a time. It’s amazing how much I end up with in the studio on my palette & I think I’ve only put out the amount I will need for the current painting! I also am amazed that in the same country, you worry about keeping things dry and I worry about keeping things hydrated enough!😂 I hope you get lots of time to create this week-spring is marching by quickly and it seems to be so very beautiful this year❤️❤️

This was so interesting to watch Ann, sorry I am late to the party as usual…! 🥴😳 I think I prefer the gouache parrot over the pastel parrot, but I say that only when I took time to think about it. Perhaps this gouache set in particular lent itself so well to the vibrant colours we associate with parrots, along with the rich greens also associated with their natural environment. I loved how you finally decided on painting the background, it truly completed the entire painting! 🙌🏻❤️❤️🎨👩🏻‍🎨🖌️

I’ve had mixed results with dried gouache. I had the best results using Winsor & Newton gouache in full pans, and I added a generous few drops of WN’s blending medium. The gouache still dried and cracked, but hasn’t fallen out of the pan. It isn’t as opaque or creamy as fresh gouache, but it does give me the option to use gouache when I travel without dealing with an airtight palette or tubes. I have NOT had good luck putting gouache in smaller pans, like half pans or Art Toolkit pans.

Loved seeing the 'Spring' colors. 🌸 I plan to get a pad/block of Fluid Hot Press specifically for gouache. I was using Fluid 100 - since that's what I had on hand - until I ran out. So, I'll save a few bucks by going with noncotton paper. With gouache being gouache, I expect it'll work just fine. 👍

Hi Irene! That’s actually one of my favorite things about gouache…you can paint in just about any surface! I really like the fluid 100 for watercolor-it’s good paper😁 I’m happy you liked this one! I look forward to your next video 👩🏻‍🎨🎨 🖊️

I do know that the more gouache like that you want your neocolor 2 to be you would be better off to go ahead and shave it into a pallette, wet and mix it well. Then let it dry fully. For some reason that seems to work the best for a more opaque appearance. As far as moisture, my suggestion would be to use a couple of silica packets that you often get in medications and other products including art supplies. I would think that they would absorb any excess moisture. If you change them out on a regular basis you would be avoiding any possibility of a problem from them.

The silica packets are a great idea for those who want the gouache to dry out, I would think. I’ve never tried that! Might be a fun experiment! One of my favorite things about Neocolor IIs is how versatile they are, and shaving them into a palette & mixing with water is indeed a great way to use them! Thanks for adding your suggestions!!

@@artonthecreek Ask well, thanks! I recently picked up Affinity Designer and Affinity Publisher and I find them very interesting and engrossing. That’s why I’m not here on KZbin that often these days.
