Fairly satisfied with the iPad version of Illustrator. Kinda reminds me the desktop version. Can’t say the same for Photoshop iPad/desktop versions. Ωραίο review btw.. subscribed 👍

Great review. It won’t be too long before more of us start using tablets for design, not just illustrators but hopefully ui designers and possibly 3D one day

Totally agree. It's extremely exciting to see how the future will shape up. Once the iPad gains proper monitor support (and not just 4:3 mirroring) I think the reasons for people to work on a desktop will decrease even more!

Still very incomplete and lacking important functions/tools. Let’s hope Adobe will increase the development of the iPad versions, including a inDesign equivalent...

adobe illustrator for ipad is 1.0 vs. over 20 years versions for the computers have patience and wait for a few months to a year for following updates

The Brush options is extremely limiting. That was my number 1 reason for getting it. No true brush like in Fresco and the pencil tool is almost useless for that. Still haven't found a way to even increase the stroke of the pencil. For everything or everybody else, it might actually be useful though.

I could be wrong, but use the direct select tool and click on the three lines to increase/decrease the stroke size. If not, there's a stroke panel somewhere on the right

You can easily check if you go to illustrator’s page on the App Store. There there’s a section where it tells you if the app is compatible with your iPad or not.

I don't see why not since it has the latest specs (apart from less RAM) but you can double check on the App store on Illustrator's page. If you visit the App store page with your current iPad it will tell you if the app can run on it!

@@marvelousdecay There is not specifically mentioned anything in detail. Can you make a video on Illustrator for the newly launched Ipad Air ? I think there are more viewers who will change their though to buy air instead of pro if it solves all the basic requirements of a UX designer

@@techyttindia8941 Scroll down on the app store page of Illustrator. There's an information section. Underneath that you will find a "compatibility" section. If it works on your iPad underneath that it will say "Work on this iPad"

Affinity Designer definitely has an advantage with the pay-once model. Unfortunately for me and other people who've worked with illustrator for years there's no real alternative. But I'm definitely glad Affinity Designer works for others.

Affinity Designer’s user interface is quite unintuitive and strange to someone with 30 years of Adobe Illustrator muscle memory. I do not find it “so much better” at all. After just a day of using Illustrator on the iPad I’m ready to dump Affinity. And one other thing, for those of us who are already using Adobe CC on the desktop, this app is essentially free for us.

@@Fernsie-1138 I also had 20 years of experience with Adobe products. I find Affinity products a lot more intuitive. I did spend time learning them well. It didn’t take me long to make the transition to Affinity products. Easy to learn if you put a little time to master it.

Another Adobe disappointment. Just like photoshop on the iPad. It can open the files, but editing is very limited. Just good enough to do reviews with clients and maybe some minor changes. My go to these days are the affinity apps. Thanks for excellent review Dimitris!
