SoundsAndGear.com: Checking out the K-Board mobile/mini usb keyboard from Keith McMillen Instruments. Works with iOS, Android, Mac, and PC. It supports tilt/pressure sensitivity, velocity, pitchbend, sustain, toggle, and octave up/down. Great mobile controller that's durable and doesn't take up a lot of space.

Great overview; thanks! But next time could you use demo sounds that are higher in pitch? Hard to hear bass on laptop speakers.

maybe the bass is ok but you need to listen to it through a proper sounding speaker. like earphones at least ?

Great demo!!! Really comprehensive and descriptive! I'm thinking of buying a K-Board to use with a laptop, breath controller, and Samplemodeling's Sax Brothers VST, for live "sax" playing. The iPad saxes you were playing actually sounded pretty decent. I'm curious as to what software you're using (as well as what iPad you're using, since it can handle all those virtual instruments so well).

Thanks for the review. I'll be getting one soon. FYI, the QuNexus by the same company is basically a k-board with more outputs (including the MIDI you mentioned wanting at the end). It's just $100 more! It came out first but then they released this one for those of us who just need USB and didn't want to pay that much more. Curious if you'll ever review the QuNeo?

I took a look on the App store and there already is an iOS K board editor. But to find it, you need to search for it ('K-Board Editor') under iPhone only. It was updated 23rd December 2014, so it was def there when you did this review - just hard to find! Thanks for posting this up. I am still torn between the K-Board and the CME XKey25 for traveling with my iPad. Can't make up my mind! K-board is smaller and nearly half the weight but I have big hands. I'd like to hear from a keyboard player what it's like to play using the K-Board. There's no shops near me where i can try them both out : (

Ahh ok, I never search the iphone downloads that's probably why I missed it. And yeah, I wanna check out the Xkey too, I also don't have small hands lol. I like the kboard because it's like a dual controller, but I'd love to checkout the full keys on the xkey. I loved it when I first saw it years ago at NAMM but I've never used one personally.

Saint John, thanks for the in-depth demo! Page 15 of the user manual mentions a "pressure disabled return value" setting in the editor. If you turn that setting off, it might solve the problem with the instrument going silent after the keyboard exits from pressure mode. files.keithmcmillen.com/downloads/k-board/K-Board_Manual_v1.0.pdf

Yeah, nice. I've seen stuff like this before from Korg "Nano Key's" or something. I'd like to see if the upper and lower part of the keys could be used independently. Is that a mpc studio I see back there?.

Maybe the best review for K-board but I really don t understant why all the reviews treat midi controllers (and especially small ones) like they are standard laptop keyboards.. It s just unbelievable!! The first thing someone wants to see is HOW MUCH sensitive K-Board is to velocity, aftertouch, tilt/pitchbend messages..All the other features I can find them via a simple google search! (The only thing that I can t find to be honest is if the k-board has polyphonic aftertouch like Qunexus).

Hello ALL and especially SAG!! I need someone's (anyone's) help and I know there's more than one way to skin a cat, but this video--the keystep-- does what I would most want to do with a foot controller. You know . . . being able to repeat the sequence along with the drum at the varying scale degrees I ii iii IV V vi but all while I'm playing guitar. What equipment would I need? Is there a software equivalent to the keystep without the keyboard? Am I simply describing the Trio pedal? Wishing everyone stays well.

Anybody know why the sustain button always gets notes on infinite sustain stuck on garageband, logic or garageband iOS?
@SoundsAndGear
@SoundsAndGear 9 жыл бұрын
Harry Liang I'd definitely suggest hitting them up man!
@harryliangTV
@harryliangTV 9 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I did.. Their chat guy Dave said this is something Apple has to fix and I need to go through the logic forums because Midi monitor says it's sending the correct signals. But I found no answer there. BUT my nanokeys and akai keyboards all work with iOS garageband, mac logic/garageband. So I went back to guitar center and showed them the problem with a new k-board on their own computer on garageband. So they said just return it for now and buy it again if they come out with a update to fix. Real frustrating.
