Great review! I have four Kato C44-9Ws in Santa Fe paint that were released about 20 years ago. Much improved details on the newer models. I can say that the Kato drive system is top of the line. Even my oldest Katos, 25 to 30 years old, run like new.

+Scale Model Trains & Colorado's Joint Line Kevin, thanks for the compliment. Glad you like it. I had to pay for those to be done, not my work but I like it. The next UP or BNSF review needs to be on your layout. I'll see what I've got coming up and let you know when something fits the bill.

jlwii2000 This is why I'm such a fan of your videos. You have very direct and professional intros, you have a friendly appearance, which some people in this hobby lack, and you are very knowledgeable with whatever model you have in front of you. Great video as always!

Hey James, big fan of Southern Pacific and I enjoy this video, I am concerned about the ditch lights did not flash when the bell or horn was activated unlike UP not having alternating ditch lights I was wondering what model company is best for accurate to railroad modifications

James, good reviews as usual. Will Kato come out with a correct NS dash 9 and CSX Ac4400? I was told Athearn is addressing the differences.

The motor control is really good. Its a nice looking unit. I find the speaker is the down fall, its a bit tiny and being so loud at high the higher notches its more distorted. I really don't like the packaging.Scott

A little disappointed that Kobo shops decided to go with the LokSound system, IMO the Tsunami sound is the best 7FDL16 sound in the market now. The model is nice, I own a couple in UP uniform and the only real complaint is the molded brake cylinders and air tanks. Good job James!
@formidable388 жыл бұрын
+Cleo I agree.LOK sound also has much better motor control over Tsunami any day!

I have this locomotive. It's number 8137 Kato regular DC. I will be ordering for Scaletrains rivet counter SP C44-9W number 8200.
@AbelG87818 жыл бұрын
please tell me that's not the only horn available on that decoder!!! it requires a K3LA ( at least my 2 UP versions ) so I'm hoping there's more
@cnw85428 жыл бұрын
It is the only horn Kato offers, it's a huge downfall in today's era of highly detailed prototypically correct models.
@AbelG87818 жыл бұрын
+cnw8542 disgusting, guess I'll stick to the MTH versions and install sound later since Kato gave it only one horn. Thanks for the info!

+Steven Oravitz I reviewed this locomotive a month ago, and the headlight shows quite bright. Kato uses fiber-optic, downside is the ditch-lights are not as bright, up side is, only 1 bulb to change.
@SteveO.19978 жыл бұрын
