Thanks for the glowing review Daryl! For your other viewers it's worth my mentioning that normally we don't assemble the IR emitters and detectors at a right angle. We knew that you wanted to use "across the rail" IR detection so I built your IR components with the right angle bend. The majority of our customers use the "between the rail" IR detection method so we assemble the IR components accordingly. No right or wrong detection method here! Glad you found a "sweet spot" for your IR mounting height! Another option is to have one component mounted higher and pointed at a slight downward angle then mount the complementary component a little lower and pointed at a slight upward angle. In this manner the IR beam should be shooting through the floor/body of any rolling stock regardless of car height.

Great product Chuck! I hope to get time to get my video shot. I’m using the in-between IR so I can do night ops. But 100% Logic Rail Technologies GCP2. Beats all others hands down! I have 2 operational on my layout, one with operational gates!! Thanks Chuck!

Looks great! Here are the regulations we have on the 1:1, a crossing equipped with Automatic Waring Device (AWD) must have a 15-20 second advance warning time. Trains that are at rest and begin travel within 3000' of the crossing must do so at a speed that allows for that time before they foul the crossing.

@@EvanstonSub in addition in our operating rules, when you cut a crossing with multiple tracks, you leave each cut 250" from the end of the crossing.

Hey Darrell. You might look at the Showcase Miniatures HO Crossing kit. Well done scale looking, You can get red LEDs 608 I think from them that fit in the castings. You can get them in Kit form, or per-made.

Those old Tomar gates are more realistic with the delay...at least every crossing gate I've seen has a slight 30 - 45 second delay between activation and movement.

Those crossings are a bit easier to program than the little motors. I have the Logic Rail Tech systems on two of my crossings and on my double track module.

Was there a time in the video when I could just hear the bell and crossing work for a few trains. I understand all the complex wireing and sensors. It is a review video so I guess it me asking at the ends can we get some stock footage. Thx 😎

@@EvanstonSubI was referring just to hearing the bell sound and the train blowing thru. You can set up some multi camera angles in the future and do a "putting them to the test" video. The higher speed crossings you have coming up should be a good example. Can't thank you enough for taking the time to post these. We really enjoy your layout!🎉

I just have a question on how you speed match your engines together? I have problems trying to speed match mine and I was just wondering how you do it.
@EvanstonSub
@EvanstonSub 2 ай бұрын
I use basic speed settings (not speed table) and adjust the mid up or down until the speed step shown on the throttle matches the scale miles per hour. I use the JMRI Panel Pro "speed profiling" app to measure loco speed from 10-50 smph.

I thought you needed 1 board for each track how are you running that with 3 tracks for one board ?
@LogicRailTech
@LogicRailTech Ай бұрын
He is using "across the rails" infrared detection rather than the more typical "between the rails" configuration. Regardless of detection method, there is still the operational caveat that a single board does not know there are multiple tracks. IF a second train enters the detection "zone" coming from the opposite direction (while the first train is still present) the single board might not shut off the action when grade crossing is finally cleared by both trains. Ultimately the board's 35 second timeout will kick in and the action will shut off. So, additional boards (the GCP/2 Expander) are highly recommended in order to avoid this behavior for multiple tracks and multiple trains. In the end, it's a choice!
