I have these, bought them because of Barry's review. I love them. The orange does essentially nothing, its too hard. I ended up at blue, blue black and its wonderful. The large brake pedal face with grip is also a game changer.

I took the gamble of buying a set of CUP1's in late 2020 and I haven't regretted the decision 1 second. Will' review is 100% spot on. They're definitively not cheap, but I'm 100% certain these pedals will last me at least 15 years and probably a lifetime. 1 of the great aspects of the CUP1's is that most parts are generic bolts, nuts, washers, etc. Even if they wear down over time, it'll be easy to replace them. And there's just no way you can destroy the big components like the baseplate, pedal-arms, etc. Another thing to mention is that even though Meca is a small company in Europe, they're offering amazing customer support. It's easy to get in touch with them and they try everything to make you satisfied. They even offer free upgrades to customers who were early adapters in 2020. Would I buy these pedals again? 100%.

for the throttle, as it's a spring that push the load cell, it's actually measuring pedal position and not a pressure. how it works ? physics :) SpringForce = SpringRate * PedalPosition. LoadCell Voltage = Force * Constant, the Force being the SpringForce we have LoadCell Voltage = SpringRate * Constant * PedalPosition. SpringRate being a constant too.

I've had these since June 22, picked them up from the factory as I was in Czech for a trip. I still use them and I am very happy with them, the brake config I use is soft-mid-hard , which gives me the best feel. I've had a few squeaks, but, nothing a bit of lube didn't fix. The only downside is the software , it doesn't allow curve adjustments, so i use engine maps to compensate where possible. the support has been hit and miss, i've had quick reply from them, but then I asked them about some spare brake elastomers and got crickets. I tried quite a few sets at the show in Germany last year , but nothing made me want to upgrade ( apart from the active pedals). Now waiting to see what Moza comes up with..

love all your videos. I've been using Fanatec V3s for about 6 months and heard you mention these feel similar. Would this be a worthy upgrade in how much control you feel?

Hard to tell from the camera view but maybe it’s worth trying to offset the throttle back from the brake a bit. I.E. it’s getting closer to being level when brakes are applied. This will reduce the wear on the boots and should help keep brake pressure on / consistent when doing heel and toe (check telemetry and see if your brake pressure reduces when reaching for the throttle, with the arc your foot needs to do to connect with the throttle I imagine you may soften brake pressure unknowingly). Your technique is good though, I think a slight adjustment would help you on all pedal sets.

Good suggesting. Didn’t try that specifically with these pedals but have done in the past with others and found it awkward. But I think that’s just down to inexperience. I need to spend a day just getting used to it I think.

@@boostedmedia as being a Meca Cup1 user for a year now (with very occasional heel'n'toe action) I can second the opinion that offsetting the brake pedal to be in line with throttle when pressed to around 50% is the way to go, at least for me. No issues with cut sole or anything. And thanks for the review, interesting points :)

Looking at the angle of the pedals and the adjustments, it appears that the only way the pedals will adjust is more angle toward 90 degrees. Is that the case or am I looking at it wrong? The pedal set looks great and you did such a thorough review. Keep up the excellent work!

Would love to see you review the simtrecs pro. Am looking towards something more high end then Fanatev V3 pedals. Ideally hydraulic but don't want to spend unnecessarily. Price / performance would be very important. Also want to avoid HE pedals as have had previous bad experiences with reliability. Any suggestions?

I have the Simtrecs Pro and am very happy with them so far. My previous set were HE Sprints, which are also very good pedals and I had no reliability issues other than using PTFE very two weeks for the clutch squeal. The one thing I have noticed is that the throttle spring is light and a couple of reviewers have mentioned it already. They are developing a stiffer spring, which will be a welcome addition for me, personally. That being said, I did set a personal best with these pedals within a couple of hours of using them. The only thing I adjusted were the angle of the pedals and reduced the throttle range to 80% to achieve that. The pedals are smooth around the edges and have reduced the amount of dirt left behind from my shoes. With the HE Sprints, I would have to vacuum twice a week as the pedal edges would eat into my shoes. Many people don't care about software, but it was a major selling point for me. If they didn't have software, I wouldn't have considered them. Also, all of the electronics are contained within the pedal unit, which makes for a cleaner presentation. For me, I cannot justify the price jump to a hydraulic setup when there is no software included and the increased maintenance required for them. I've had project cars in the past, and I'm at stage in my life where I don't want the hassle. You mentioned you had issues with HE reliability so maybe you might feel the same way.

@@timt8199 thanks for that! The rounded off edges are a big selling point for me. And the rest of the design is beautiful too. Shouldn't really make a diff but they look incredible. But from the reviews I've seen they seem to be incredibly good and also reliable. Yes I believe they now offer a stiffer spring on the website. But thanks again for the insight!

How does its throttle feel and experience compare to something cheap like a G920? How important are these differences? My impression based on reviews seems it's not as important as the difference between the load cell to non-load cell brakes.

Armin, you are correct. In terms of lap time, the most important component is the brake pedal, not the throttle. The difference between even a cheap load cell brake and a potentiometer brake as in the G920, is worth more that an second per lap at at track like Imola, even more as you progress in your skills. I am speaking from direct experience. When I went from the G920 to a load cell pedal, I picked up more than a second on my best lap time within 4 laps.

I would hope the manufacturer wouldn’t use cut off hose on such a high end pedal set. Pretty’s sure its pinch weld.

I believe you do the math wrong in the calibration in diview according to the instruction. You add the min to the max and divide by 2. Your supposed to subtract the minimum from the maximum then divide by 2 then add the minimum to find the middle.

Yes and no. Internally it’s converting deflection of the strain gauge into a varying voltage, but externally, a load cell measures force in the form of pressure, torque, compression or tension. It doesn’t inherently measure deflection, although it can be implemented in such a manner as we see with the throttle and clutch here.

@@boostedmedia Agreed, a load cell uses a change in the state of a metal to give a voltage which can then be read as an applied force, in pretty much the same way as does a Hall sensor - i.e to read change in a voltage an an applied force. Normal wire wound potentiometers are the true readers of distance as a reading depends on the distance travelled along a conductor by a moving contact. I'm building my own pedals using Hall sensors, but as with the load cell here in your excellent review the true feel comes from the mechanism used to resist the movement of the brake pedal - not the load cell itself. My main critism of the brake pedal here is the lack of the initial pedal dead zone as the pads close on the brake discs - unforgivable to me at this level. Interesting debate and thanks for the link.

User error I'm sure, but I could never get the brake dialed into a place where it felt good and consistent to me. I ended up swapping them out for a set of SimCoach pedals and have found exactly what was missing for me in the Meca and the V3 and I don't know why. My braking is so much more consistent to the point that I almost never think about it. They seem to have fixed the problems Will found with the hydraulics, I've had no issues. The thought and design that went it to the Meca pedals is very impressive though. Company c!early cares about putting something great into their customers hand and not just HE knock offs.
