Review: Mehta and Bronfman's Average Brahms Concertos

You mentioned Mehta's recording of the Brahms First Piano Concerto with Artur Rubinstein towards the end of his career. For me, the go-to recording of Brahms's First Piano Concerto is Rubinstein's earlier recording with Reiner. Whew!

Just listened to these CDs. It’s so sad to hear that this is what Mehta has devolved into. Among recent modern recordings of these concerti, Freire/Cailly is my favourite.
