I got the 128x. It’s a bit wider and is basically a barge very similar to the 133x. Both come with Yak Power like yours. I’m anxious to get it on the water! I frequently ride a wheelchair due to chronic issues and I need the open deck. The 450 lbs weight limit gives me lots of options.

You think I could mount a rod holder onto the middle hatch? I'm worried the force of a fish on may break the hatch. Thoughts?

That’s a great question Eric! I mounted a bait tray and a couple other things on my hatch but they only receive downward pressure. If I were to hook into a big fish, even if my drag was set properly it would definitely be pretty tough on the hatch door. There’s only one latch inside holding the hatch down so there’s a lot of movement if you try to pull up on the edges of the hatch. I would not mount a rod holder to it unless you were using that rod holder for panfish. Thanks for watching brother!

Brian, I have the same yak, how have you got your battery mounted? I've been trying to decide how to mount one. I had a trolling motor on mine mounted very similar but directional control was slightly different. I removed it since I finally broke down and ordered a Hobie. I'll probably keep this to fish the upper yadkin for smallmouth, too rocky to worry about a trolling motor. I like your setup. Hard to beat scotty mounts.

Whiskertime Fishing ...I’m gonna put out a video soon on the entire trolling motor installation So you can check that out for the whole shebang. For the battery I actually cut a flange out of a cutting board material that was around an inch and a quarter thick to raise the center midship hatch high enough to put the battery in there. The weight of the battery rides really well at midship.

Do you put anything on the bottom of your Kayak to protect the keel and such from rocks on the river?

Pete Ippolito ... That’s a good question.. I did not put anything on the bottom of my kayak because most of the products out there that you can apply/adhere to your keel create drag when you’re paddling and many times they actually cause you to get stuck on rocks easier. I’ve done a lot of white water kayaking and Kayak Fishing over the years and hitting rocks and scratching the hull just come with the territory. Most of these kayaks are extremely durable and they may get some scratches dings etc. but they just keep on going. I have never had one gouge on a rock in such a way that it damage the integrity of my hull. I think the protectors do their job but I personally don’t care for them. Anyway, I hope that helps. Jay Live I went out yesterday too but I didn’t get out as early as I would’ve liked to so all the tubers started coming down the river and I called it a day at about noon.
