Absolutely loved this video and I’m so happy to have your voice back on KZbin! 🔥🔥 I haven’t read Carrie because I’ve been too scared to tackle the religious abuse aspects, but this discussion is pushing me over the edge and it’s officially on my October TBR. I will definitely be taking your advice to listen to the Sissy Spacek narrated audiobook!

Great video! Loved it. 👏 Carrie was such a sympathetic character. She could never catch a break, at home or at school. Then, with the chance for a little happiness or a magical moment ....the ultimate humiliation and torment occurs. So sad 😢. There is an important lesson there of course; try to live by the Golden Rule. Don't be a meanie or a bully. 🔥

I LOVE this in depth approach to reading and reviewing books! I got super turned off by BookTube a while back because of it feeling like a competition of "who can read the fastest/most". Sitting with a text for a proper amount of time is so much better.

The menstruation lining up with her tapping into her powers is very similar to Ginger Snaps! I need to do a Carrie re-read ASAP.

Thank you. I like the telekinetic people in the government trying to get rid of them. That sounds interesting. I only saw the 1976 movie I like the notes and other people's reactions to carry but I wish we had learned more from her perspective.

I have so many thoughts... So if you take things at surface level, if someone causes other people to die, that equals villianhood (is that a word, I don't think so). However, I would give a big fat no to the question of Carrie being a villain. She is just a girl, faced with relentless bullying by her peers and abuse by her mother. She is reacting to her situation. It makes a person look a bit closer at cases of mass violence in schools in contemporary society. Not that violence is ok, just that I think we need to take a closer look at where that violence is coming from.
