I so appreciate you! I am an 86 year old woman who has been on Estradiol for many years, and feel better than most women 15 to 20 years younger than I am…just had a bone density ( no Osteoporosis), no heart trouble, no breast cancer! I have had to fight for the past few years, because of the damn WHI study and doctors who don’t bother to update their knowledge regarding menopausal women and their treatment and they don’t or won’t listen to any info regarding new studies….shameful. I have finally found a PC who at least acknowledges that I am not an idiot when it comes to my health, my body and has agreed to let me continue on with my Estradiol, although I haven’t convinced her as yet, to run all of the hormone labs to find out where my levels are.
@trinagreenfield51986 ай бұрын
Good for you!!! Now that's what I'm talking about! Is it too personal if I asked what estradiol dose you are on? I am striving to be you! I was also happy to learn that people like you and I can request our own lab testing without a doctor. Here in the state of Washington, we have Quest Diagnostics. I plan on getting my hormones and thyroid checked there. Doing it that way, though, I would have to pay full price without my insurance since it's not being requested by my doctor.

@@trinagreenfield5198 Hi Trina….I am on 0.5 mg of Estradiol and because I had a hysterectomy at age 35, I was thrown into menopause at age 35. It has not been a fun time, but at least now I have a doctor who listens to what I have to say. I feally would like to have a full hormonal panel done, so I can see what, if anything, else I need to do for my overall health. The doctor who originally prescribed the Estradiol for me, did so because I was having hot flashes (one right after the other) 24/7….all day and all night! This was about 12 or 13 years ago, so life has been fairly good since then. Good luck with getting your labs done….as a senior the cost of having it done on my own is really prohibitive in the San Diego area….

I just requested and paid for my own lab test to check my estradiol level. It was only $32 and I had the results in less than 24 hours. I went through Ulta Labs and had my blood drawn at Quest Diagnostics.

I just turned 62. I had a complete hysterectomy when I was 30 years old. I was immediately put on Estradiol oral pill. About 8 years ago, a doctor tried to scare me into stopping Estradiol. Wouldn't prescribe them. I was off a month and felt awful! I found a functional medicine doctor who thought the other doctor was not up to date on her information. The FM doctor put me back on the Estradiol in a patch form. Life was good again. I am now facing the same dilemma. I live far from a major city now... Since I am 62 years old, docs are trying to instill fear again and don't want to prescribe it to me. I live on the Oregon Coast small town... My conclusion is that I want quality of life. I would rather live 5 years quality of life than struggle through 20 years... I have done my best to educate myself and research every opinion and have read all the research outcomes. I am on zero pharmaceuticals or over OTC'S... I do take a few supplements and occasionally herbal remedies. Please let me know your thoughts. Are you able to prescribe? If not any suggestions? I have 2 refills left. Thank you for your time in advance.

Check online and see if any hormone specialist do telemedicine in your state. You can have your labs done locally and have them sent to the telemedicine doc. It’s worth a try.
@trinagreenfield51986 ай бұрын
I just looked last night, and Shawn Tassone, MD, PhD isn't yet licensed in the state of Oregon. However, @ttinkers1062 is correct. All you have to do it get on Google and type in the words "menopause HRT telemedicine". You will see oodles of telemedicine companies in the business of helping women get their HRT. It's not cheap, as many require a monthly membership fee that may or may not include the cost of your HRT. Some accept insurance to cover the prescriptions (my preference as my copays are only $10), and some telemedicine companies charge a fee without insurance and mail it directly to your door. I hope that helps!

I was just told today by a gyn that since I’m >10 years post menopause, there’s no hormonal treatment for me. Very frustrating but not surprising, thanks to your videos & book. As I was explaining how I found your information on the internet, my husband who was in the consultation with me said she kinda rolled her eyes at that point, which I didn’t see, but he knew then that the conversation was not going to go in my favor. So I came home & ordered some estradiol & progesterone creams from Amazon just to try & see if they work. They cost me about the same as my visit copay, which was a total waste of money. If they don’t work, I’ll just have to wait for you to get your PA license.

I am in my early 70’s and last year was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive lobular BC which was “estrogen” driven. I had surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. I receive herceptin infusions every week through September. Now the oncologist wants to have me take Aromatase Inhibitors which attack any estrogen in my body. After doing a lot of research I do not want to take these meds due to horrific side effects. Had a difficult menopause and did HRT and never felt better in my life. I still cannot wrap up head around why estrogen would be my bodie’s enemy. I do not like the pressure being put on me to take meds that would make my quality of life terrible. What are your thoughts on these BC treatments? Thank you and hearing about the menopause study was key information to receive.

I also read "The Sexy Years", years and years before I began menopause, to prepare my body, mind, and spirit for the change. Two years ago, I had my first hot flash (age 53), and within minutes I had an appointment with an ND to get on hormones. I've been on sublingual bioidenticals, via a compounding pharmacy, ever since. And that is thanks to Suzanne Somers (RIP). I'd have not known to do that without her book. What an angel she was, and now truly IS. Why are you recommending mammograms, and not thermograms? That study that was released on April 9th was in my purse ready to pull out as backup if needed. I did get a prescription for the estradiol patch, but was made to start on the baby dose of .025. I've already heard that baby doses don't eliminate all of our menopause symptoms, but I have to play the game. In four weeks I have another post op appointment. I was told if all of my symptoms haven't gone away, I may ask for the .0375. My uterus is now gone due to a very recent total hysterectomy, so I was told I don't need progesterone. Well, I beg to differ. While being my own health advocate (like yourself), I've learned that progesterone is good for our bodies in so many important ways. I could go on and on. I'm just so passionate about this topic! =)

I was once told without a uterus, no need for progesterone. However, I believe there are other benefits beyond uterus protection. My OB/GYN seems reluctant to even prescribe the patch, and has never done testing of levels. I’ll definitely share this study with her. Thanks for all you are doing to educate.
