880/860 FTW. I’ve just retired my latest pair of 860s after 1100 miles of daily training. I run 4000+ miles a year and for daily road work these are my go. Another helpful summary for those looking for their next pair of shoes, thank you Ben.

I’m a medical student and I use the 1080 v12 as an every day shoe and trust me they are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever used. I’ve used the ultraboost, vomero but they don’t come close to the comfort the 1080 gives
@jansommerlund54975 ай бұрын
My favourite brand. They nearly never make bad shoes and for me the fit and comfort is just perfect. They also make some brilliant trail shoes and the Venom is a gem. What a shoe!

880v12 was my first New Balance shoe and i loved it, ran a few sub 20 5kms and a sub 40 10km in it. Loved the dual foams where it was soft on the bottom but the top layer was a firmer / more active foam that gave that bit of pop for when i wanted some speed.

I’ve had the rebel 2, 3 and 4. Have used them as interval / speed day shoes. The 4 is my favourite with more stack and stability I can do long runs and easy runs in it. 23km today with 10km at half Mara pace in the V4.
@mikeharvey73835 ай бұрын
I picked up some 1080's v10 cheap at an outlet and tried running in them once, such a bad experience I never ran in them again but they are a great walking shoe and very durable. I started off running in 880's v4 I think and had some other versions but didn't get on with one of the versions and tried pegasus 32's and I loved them, didn't like 33-35 but did like 36's gave up on Pegs after the 36's. In the last year I've decided to run in plated shoes all the time, Vaporfly 2's and 3's and Alphafly2's, the vaporfly 3's are my personal best shoe ever, I'm still running in a pair that have nearly 1000km on them. I did this because I believe plated shoes change the way you run and swapping between non plated and plated I feel caused me issues. I remember kicking my inside right ankle with my left foot and bemused why I was doing it, I decided it was when I was wearing non plated shoes. It is expensive training in plated shoes all the time but I try and buy discounted from Nike and send the one's back that wear too quickly.

Thanks, Ben! Great vid as always. New Balance always make a great & comfortable shoes. I’ve had a little bit of gripe with New Balance because they always had discrepancies with their stack height & drop stated. For example, NB SC Elite V3 stated as 40mm stack height with 4mm drop, its definitely not felt like what its stated. Later i found out that its actually 35mm with 12mm drop as per runrepeat found out.

I just returned the Fuelcell Rebel V4 today. Its super light, breathes well, looks great and felt fantastic upon initial step in. Took it out for my first run and noticed the foam really compressed and didnt bounce back. 1 mile in and i was done.... just felt no responsiveness, no bounce. I started to feel way too much impact and knew it wasn't for me. Boxed back up and got my money back. If the foam had a little more pop to it, it would have been perfect.

If anyone wants a low stack shoe try the NB tempo v2 - good price, can do anything in it. Durability holding up well for me so far. As someone with ankle problems most shoes nowadays scare me with their high stack that I’ll just ruin my ankles again going over from so high and having less ground feel - but I love this, plus can wear it casually

Love your reviews. My opinion is that you missed one of their very best offerings because of the great price - the Propel V4. I reach for those more often than some of my shoes that were $50 more. They have a FuelCell midsole, like some of their much more expensive options, and a TPU plate. Best deal on the market. My two cents!

I'm also excited about trying the new SC Trainer v3. Same exact foam as the Rebel v4, plus the inclusion of a carbon plate. a more cushioned upper. Should be a fun training shoe, with a boost. I'm also excited by the Pacer v2, which has a more lightweight, lower stack racing shoe, up to half marathon distance.

Got the 880v12 GTX 2E and they’ve been sublime… it’s like walking on clouds… the only gripe I have is that the outsole seems to be peeling off at the heel (the cushion coming off the base of the outsole)… suspect this might be due to the shoe being an old stock but with this one and the new Cumulus 26 it’s been fantastic! I was shocked to find that the 1080 was the best fitting road shoe for my narrow feet at my running shop recently. I had to be convinced to give them a try, as every NB I’d ever tried before had been almost comically wide and everyone I know who wears them has wide feet. I honestly thought that was the whole point of the brand.

I got calcaneocuboid ligament effusion and edema on right foot wearing New Balance More V4... I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I can feel it's harder to run in them, like running in sand. Maybe I was going to fast, maybe my feet are weak... I waited 5 days, took my prescribed meds, cooled the pain area and I cointinued running in harder shoes without problems. For walking I use Xero barefoot shoes.

I dont know why but the 1080 v13's that I bought recently have been the opposite of what you said and are very uncomfortable to me, to the point where it hurts my foot and is drawing my attention to it mid-run. This is around 50 miles into them, dont plan on using them anymore. Anyone else have this experience?
@WhiteRaito2 ай бұрын
I use it for daily for around a month and a half but 1080 is prone to ankle twist and pronations esp while running /standing. I personally will only use it like 1 hr max. And only to commute while riding a motorbike. It already make my ankle and knees hurt to the point i just bought 880v14 today instead. Haven't tried 880 but since ppl said its way more stable laterally it should be the choice of use.
