Let's say for example I decide to stick one on my bike and it winds up stolen will it be able to find the bike? Even if it's on the other side of town??

I am afraid not. To do that it would have to be much larger, to house GPS & a large battery. Its size limits what it can do. The Lupo uses the GPS on your phone to determine its last known position. So if your bike is stolen from your house at 0100 today, it will lose the Bluetooth signal at 0100 and state that its last known location was at your house at (approximately) 0100 today. Not what you want - it won't tell you where it is. On the other hand, if your phone was on your bike then it would tell you where it was.

When the Bluetooth is off and the key is missing (e.g. stolen) would you see the last location even if you did not have the app open?

Yes if Bluetooth is on. No if Bluetooth is off. Location stored on the app isn't the current location of the Lupo - it's the location of your phone the last time it had a Bluetooth link to your Lupo. So, leave it in a shop and app will show shop location. Turn Bluetooth off at home, then leave keys in shop and app will display home as last location.
