I'm getting a larger model (8000 BTUs) for two rooms that flow together and that are 300 sq.ft. (I understand 8K BTUs are good for areas up to 340 sq.ft.) Thanks a million for this coherent, rational, profanity-free review.

Mine is that size and Im having problems with it. When it's powered off it just sounds like it still runs, I have to completely unplug it and it constantly freezes up too. The auto setting doesn't work and just blows really cold air doesn't matter what the temperature I set it at.

Just got the 6,000 btu Arctic King at National Wholesale Liquidators for $139.00. Looks just like yours. So far, so good. Here is a tip. The accordian slats are not good at keeping the cool in and the heat out. Use foam insulation board (Home Depot) and tape and cover the left and right slats. Make a good seal all around. Your A/C will work alot less harder and will cost you less to run. Search KZbin for "Homeowner's Guide to Window Air Conditioner Installation" for a good tutorial.

I bought a 5000 for emergency use in the house but am going to put in the van. It is keeping a bedroom that used to be a one car garage . door open and i am cooling the hall outside and the bathroom. hall door cracked so some cool floats out to kitchen and foyer area. 74 degrees now in here and it doesnt get much cooler than that. MAYBE 72. the other night it actually shut off for about 10 minutes then started back up. it was cool enough i say my temp sensor is off by about 4 degrees. it was set on 68. but i bet it will freeze me out of the van.

I just bought this same AC yesterday.. I see all the negative reviews on it but it's a great AC for the Price.. It cools my bedroom just fine.. I've found that if you just leave it on cool it does way better.. I tried the energy saving setting but it cut off and on to much during the night.. My only complaint is it's a little loud for my taste.. I guess I'll get use to it.. Nice video. I didn't know you could get the room temp from the remote.. Thumbs up from me👍

Hi I just got a brand new artic 5000btu for my apartment, it comes on and goes off automatically, sometimes it won't come on even when I turn it on, some times it works for 3 minutes and shuts off, i have tried two different power outlets, still acting thesame this is the third air conditioner iam buying that is all acting thesame way, Any suggestions or ideas to why is not coming on most of the times and shuting off of by its self please help or does it have something to do with the apartment
@joshoconnor58739 жыл бұрын
If it is the third one that is acting like this I would guess your either over loading your power outlets or it could be faulty wiring. Possibly a shorting fuse in your fuse box? Although it would usually shût down. Your whole breaker. I would check the fuse in your breaker and if it's fine contact your landlord about faulty wiring, even tho I doubt they will do anything if you at least let them know via txt, you'll have it in writing and if the place burns down sue the fuck outs them

Esellajessica the drain hole is for getting condensation out of the air conditioner. Condensation collects because the ac is pulling out humidity from the air. However, you do not need a drain hose, there should just be a built-in drain, on the outside if it.

I assume that you're aware that you should make sure that you're on putting your AC in window that gets a lot of sun for the majority of the day? Of course, your AC could have very well been defective as well. I've had my AC (the one in this video obviously) for almost two years, and I haven't had a single issue with so far. Best of luck to you with your next AC.

+GoldenSonic08 Hi, I've had this ac unit for about 3 years, but it's starting to smell like mildew when I turn it on. I've cleaned the filter in the front, but I think it's something inside. Have you experienced this? If so, how did you remedy it?
@Edwilliams918 жыл бұрын
+Esellajessica look in the back and possibly take a hose to the inside. I had leafs and crap in the back of mine where the water drips down. I also drilled 2 holes on each side to drain water more "efficiently". After I cleared all the leafs and old stagnant water, no more funky smells!
@Esellajessica8 жыл бұрын
+Ed Williams (Fast Eddie) Just in case anyone else runs into this problem, I removed all the screws and took the front and top of the unit off. I purchased a can of a.c. foaming coil cleaner and used it on the front and back coils. I also sprayed the fan and the wheel that spin together, they both had mildew buildup. I also bought condenser tablets to prevent mildew from building up so quickly. My a.c. now cools exactly how it used to and the smell of mildew is Completely gone! :D

I recommend that you buy any brand other than Arctic King... they are absolute garbage. Room size isn't the only thing to consider. Though the unit was rated large enough for the room, it never cooled it efficiently. Within a few months, the brand new unit would no longer turn on at all, something in the controller module went bad, the power button just stopped functioning. Before that the remote control caused brand new Energizer batteries to melt and leak, destroying it. They are crap, you get what you pay for.
