Great video Steve. I have the same saw with an Incra LS on it. I added a cast iron router extension to the left side and use the Incra router attachments on the Incra LS. I make furniture and repeatability and accuracy are second to none.

Hello Steve, How deep is the table top on the Harvey saw? The new ones are 31.5" and the Incra LS is good up to 31" so I had my mind made up that I needed to buy a different say. Have not bought one yet.

You have many nice accessories creating a very nice custom setup. It would be nice to see an equipment list with make and model information like a lot of other content providers do. Also would love to see a shop tour if your so inclined to make another video. Thanks for sharing, its always nice to see other experienced woodworkers setups. Cheers, Gus

I think you were probably looking for your Incra Miter gauge? I have the Incra 1000se and love it. On another note, I've been using an Incra LS Positioner and 28" Incra fence (as you would like on a stand alone router table setup) and ordered the rails and fence like you just demonstrated. I've been using a Rigid R4512 table saw and loved it, but not so much the rails and especially the fence...hence the Incra stuff I've just described. However, a kickback caused my left hand to come across the top of the saw blade and cut deep enough to get the tendon and nerve on my left thumb. Having said all that, I've purchased a 3hp SawStop table saw and waiting on my Incra rails and fence to arrive...and for my thumb to heal up. Already been 2 months and still not through with the therapy. So..keep it safe my friend and keep the riving knife in place. Enjoyed your video and it will help with my installation.

Earl B. Yes mate bad accidents happen when you A. Don’t use a riving knife B. Don’t use push sticks C. Don’t use a guard, I religiously use all as bad accidents can happen if you dont. The things I see on KZbin with guys freaks me out with their complacency.

I was ripping 3/8" plywood strips of plywood to cover seams in my ceiling. My walls and ceiling are plywood. I almost finished the day before and had to rip one more piece the next day, but the last piece I ripped that day had to be cut to 4' so I did it on my miter saw... I forgot and left the miter saw top cabinet door open and when I ripped it the next morning I hit the cabinet door which caused the accident. I failed to observe my work area...something I usually try to do. Really enjoyed the video. Keep those videos coming.

I have a Sawstop industrial 3 phase. Overkill? Yes. I am a bit gun shy due to losing the end of a finger 25 years ago. The Biesmeyer fence is a pain because as you say it is a case of tapping into position. The problem with the Sawstop fence is that it moves slightly when you lock it into position. Add to that the inaccuracies of using tape measures and you get a mounting degree of frustration. I have an Incra 25" LS Positioner (still in the box) for my yet to be built router table (a la New Brit Workshop - Peter Parfitt). I also have the Jessem guides for both the router table and the Sawstop. Looks like the Incra for the Sawstop is a worthwhile proposition. I'll have to put off the Festool 3M rail for a while though. Thanks for the demo.

I am thinking of getting either the Harvey Harvey HW110HB-30 2HP model or the Laguna F2 Fusion, after watching this I am leaning more to the Harvey as apposed to the Laguna. Do you find the 30" Table to be enough room, Do the rails that come with the saw only extend to 30"?

Hi Steve! Is your table saw performance comparable to that of Powermatic or SawStop? How about its bed? Is it dead flat? How about its fence in relation to the bed? Is it equipped with mechanism to allow calibration? Thank you for sharing of your experience using the Harvey table saw. I am considering having one. Please keep on posting videos. Again, thank you.
@dt24193 жыл бұрын
Sawstop is a great saw but it's comparable in quality to all good table saws, laguna, powermatic, harvey etc. The only reason they are far more expensive is the name and the pattented safety system.

Steve, came across your channel and am now a new viewer from the UK. Very interesting watching some of your video's - I thought I was in my workshop. Exactly the same tools - JET, Incra, Festool everywhere, TSO, Kreg and even spotted the Incra Dust box under the router table. Just sold my Axminster table saw and await delivery of a newly ordered Harvey .....how's that for spooky. Added the Harvey sliding table and the Shark S-12 overhead guard so it should be a good upgrade from my Axminster. Completely agree with the Incra LS......had mine for a few years and would not be without it. Just looking at the iVAC auto blast gates as my dusty is already remote controlled. No cyclone on dusty ! Why not look at the Oneida Super it will change the performance of your dust collection. All the best from a new UK watcher.
@sicdsteve15 жыл бұрын
Hi Rotti, yes it seems we have all the good gear !! thanks for joining hope you have fun watching. Now the dusty....the trouble for me is space, I compromised by getting the Jet Dust Collector DC-1200 Vortex - Single Phase as this has a vortex like action. Also all the dust in a bag, so how do you deal with dust in an open tub?? The Oneida maybe great for dust extraction but size and a "bucket of dust" is my issue......which reminds me I need to order some more bags.

Steve's Festool Shed Talk one more thing is the Harvey table saw worth buying as I am planning to buy one same model as your
@sicdsteve15 жыл бұрын
Well its all about the money you have to spend, is it powerful? - YES Is the dust collect great? - It's OK ( The Saw lacks good internal suction cowl design like Saw Stop does ) is it quiet? - YES ( especially with the retro fitted Blade cover ) Is the stock fence good? - YES ( But I wanted better and repeatability via Incra ) Would I buy it again? - PERHAPS ( The Saw Stop version is better not for the stupid finger sausage gimmick but the duct extraction set up is way better, the winding up and down of the blade better, the blade guard better., generally SawStop is a better saw set up.) What about the price? - OK here we go, First the HW110LGE-30 Tablesaw in Australia is $2480 and the SawStop Professional Cabinet Saw with 30" Premium Rail is $4579, thats a woping $2080 difference. So both have same blade 10", same 3HP , and you have to ask what is a saw but a spinning shaft with a blade. The rest is candy floss. My choice was to buy the Harvey ( Cost $2400 ), buy the best fence on the market by none INCRA LS ( $900 ), Custom make a better SawStop blade guard ( $140 for SawStop Guard $ 300 for custom made blade riving knife in stainless steel that includes, design, CAD drawing, Laser cutting and re assembly ( it was tricky I hear ) - Totals $3740 which is $700-$800 cheaper than SawStop. For me that was money better spent, I get "perfect" repeatable cuts everytime, powerful, safe with better guard and I have no need for a saw that doesnot chop fingers as I have sensible practices - PUSH STICK always GUARD down all the time ( except for trenching cuts ) and still got fingers and they are no where near the blades, The great feature of the blade guard is anti- kick spike feet, double infact, the design is superior as it always allows for better usage and as a result the dust extraction turns out to be fine, this is a way better way that the Harvey Standard. So to sum up if I had endless money I would have bought a SawStop with an Incra LS Fence at a cost of $5700 but I am happy enough with my pimped up Harvey. So I hope this has been of help.

@dougprentice13635 жыл бұрын
@@sicdsteve1 I've seen so many videos on it. No one addresses the need for slight clearance in fingers. If they are line to line, with no clearance, there is no room for glue. Using a mallet to assemble is not what I want. I bought the incra DVD, they do not show how to have slight clearance. Very frustrating. I'm sure there's a way... But I can't figure it out. I haven't tried calling incra tech support yet. They may be able to help. It just puzzles me that everyone uses a mallet, and they seem to think that is great. The incra DVD shows a nice slip fit joint, but they don't explain how to get it. Maybe they use an oversized bit.

Would like to see a chipout demo (lack thereof) on melamine boards. Showed the doors, but surely they were bevelled.
@sicdsteve15 жыл бұрын
The doors are not bevelled the edges are straight from the saw then edge taped in decorative ABS edging, That is not plywood by the way, but 1 mm taped edge put in with a Festool Conturo edging machine. I didn’t mention that, so the white board you see is the raw edge from the saw.
