As an ADHD player, I love this game. As an OCD player, it's a love hate relationship with conveyors but still fun 😅

For sure! I think OCD often tends to be a byproduct of ADHD, which can hurt or help. It makes me rebuild often and not progress in the meantime, but it also makes for more organization. Trade offs! Thank you for the comment

I can't tell you how much I relate to this! picked up Satisfactory in early access, and I've been invested ever since. Now that 1.0 is out I've been enjoying myself with a new playthrough, tearing down and rebuilding until I'm absolutely satisfied. Having ADHD, I have a tendency to lose focus on a game after a while, and with more linear games it's hard to find something different to try out. With this game, I can drop whatever I'm doing and go play about on the other side of the map and it still always feels like I'm progressing! It's fun to see others who enjoy the same qualities in this game, 10/10 video!

Absolutely, sounds like my experience, exactly! It's the same itch scratched as when I used to play Space Engineers 😊

I didn't think about a few of these points when considering the game through the ADHD lens. I always thought it was weird how I could be into such a slow-paced game despite my ADHD, but this is a great explanation. 2000 hours in and happy to have found this.
@SidleScout29 күн бұрын
Definitely, slow pace is no match for constant rewards!

4:55 Never diagnosed with adhd but what you said I did ALL the time. Sunk 148 hours into this just to complete the project assembly and I swear at least 100 of that was just rebuilding everything twice. Sometimes because it was not in a perfect “square”.
@SidleScout29 күн бұрын
That quality definitely isn't exclusive to ADHD, but it's often correlated. There are online tests you can take to see if you have a lot of ADHD tendencies, if you ever care to find out 😊 Thanks for watching!

Great video dude. I have been wondering for a while why this game is played by some many people with ADHD (myself included) as on the outwardly it would seem like it wouldn't be. But this video has helped clarify why I get so hooked on to it.

Just 20 seconds in I want to say that Satisfactory is definitely good for ADhD. If I want to play a railroading game, I lay track. If I want to play a city builder, the Blueprint maker is great for designing houses. Collecting things, crafting things, fighting, exploring, driving, and getting distracted by all the pretty stuff! My world has Tudor houses, trestle bridges, a Command & Conquer (oil) Refinery and a gigantic N64 logo on the cliff by the main factory! The only things it's missing are found in the vast amount of Mods, which I am thinking of creating one myself for the things I can't find :D.
@SidleScout26 күн бұрын
Absolutely--I'll have to check out your channel so I can see some of that stuff! I am planning a bridge right now, too, maybe I'll upload that when I get to it. As for mods, I've been thinking about that, as well, but they are written in C++ and currently I'm only versed in C#, Python, and JS, so it may take some time to learn the scaffolding :) I've got to go check out that N64 logo, now, if it's on your channel--my favorite game system that has my favorite game of all time (Ocarina)!

Good content. You are right that Satisfactory is very well designed. Each gameplay loop (explore, build, progress) is tight and compliments the others. The only exception is the creative design and decoration aspects of the gameplay. The only reward for a pretty build is the dopamine from stepping back and admiring your own work or sharing your work with others who are interested in the game. That is common in crafting/survival games though, and I think game developers know that they don't have to do much to incentivize building other than avoiding "getting in the way of the fun" by making the aesthetic elements too difficult to use or too gated. There is also a delicate balance to be struck in giving the player access to those elements. Too many aesthetic elements too early and the player is overwhelmed, too few and they may get bored with the lack of options. Satisfactory does a good job in that regard as well with the A.W.E.S.O.M.E. shop/sink system.

Don't underestimate the reward of stepping back and admiring your work, though. My new video I just posted, "Dome Build", has a lot of me stepping back to look 😂

If you don't want the game reminding you to take a break or if you want to change the interval of the reminders, it has a setting in the game options to make adjustments.
@SidleScout27 күн бұрын
I didn't know that, thanks! I like the reminder, it helps with my time blindness. Sometimes I feel like I've been playing for 30 minutes and the reminder will pop up and I think, "oh crap, I better go, you know, eat or something", lol
@Kithhurrn27 күн бұрын
@@SidleScout Ya, the reminder can be useful. Some find it a bit intrusive but I generally just tweak the interval & leave it on. Getting up for a stretch & maybe a short walk isn't a bad thing.
