That was a great review. The recording was exactly the right type of sound and feel for a test of this sort. Switching happened when I wanted it to. Besides how amazing the VBC itself sounded,I'm was very impressed by the pace and thorough coverage of the review. I can't believe the negativity on here. Thanks for this.

Man awesome clip. Nice mix by the way!!! All plugins of Slate Digital are simply amazing. They keep on blowing me out of my socks each time. Way clearer than the waves stuff

That's a great song! Love this guy's voice. Even when you turn the compressors off, the song is still high energy. I know it sounds better with them on but the band did a great job on this song.

"That top end just lifting - it's lovely!" Haha, great quote :) These compressors sound great (and just look super cool too) - thanks for the full rundown on these.

Don't worry, Steven appreciated it, as did the other 99%. I don't do these for the 1% of people who have KZbin tourettes. You don't get 28,000 subscribers without attracting a few. Thanks Pascal.

How does this compare to the SSL duende or waves SSL stereobuss compressor. Just discovered that the Duende sounds more sweeter than the waves,audio gets less distorted and crunchy but glues the tracks in a nice way. Cant wait to try out "the Glue and Slate Digital VBC Virtual Buss Compressor

Great review. I own and use everything Slate has made so far -- will be grabbing one of these once the issues with the ilok 2 are sorted out. I was really digging the focusing that took place when the GREY was used.

great compressors, they really make a difference. My only gripe with them is that they're not available on mono tracks, only stereo.
@PenumbraEclipse10 жыл бұрын
ahh that sucks.. still sounds great though. If it goes down to 100 for the DL I may have to go for it!
@jorgecastaneda18474 жыл бұрын
What's the problem with that? You can just process a mono signal with a stereo plugin and since there is no side signals, it won't affect that, can't you?

thanks for making the vid, good to hear this in action. Just a question though: am I right to think that you are compressing more than would normally be appropriate, in order to let us hear the sound of the compressor? I always thought that when the compression doesn't fall back to zero gain reduction at least every once in a while during a performance, you actually don't realize the maximum effect of the compression. I know, there's a loudness war going on and all, but I am peace minded :)

I tried to find a better buss compressor then this pack, because of the noise it has built in, and I was unable to, even to this day.These are absolutely brilliant. Such a pity they don't offer a "noise off" on their plugins.

CLA is using the old red 3 again. He used for a very little time the Shadow Hills. And to be clear on how much he compresses his mixes, the trick is the lowest ratio possible, in this case 1.5:1

Slate is a head and shoulders above anything Waves have put out. I used to use waves back in the early/mid 2000s, but there's no reason to these days -- they've fallen waaaay behind. UAD, Brainworx and Slate - no crispy, unfocused and distorted mixes anymore.

Well ... the song definitely IS extremely fatigueing and hurts the ears a lot. Not the best choice for a compressor test IMO as the compression makes it sound even worse. I think a more dynamic acoustic song would have suited the purpose better. However, I do appreciate the work.

russ that session was terrible. screeching pain. couldn't watch. had to turn it off straight after your sales pitch ;( appreciate your other work though, keep it up. ;)

Genius i dont care if youre using the cheapest compressor in the world if you take it away after its been on, the mix is going to feel like it falls apart. You attempt to sound cool by using phrases like harmonic structure but it doesnt apply here at all. Thats the sad thing about the internet, any amateur can get on claim to be "an expert" which youre clearly not and the dummies just eat it up.

Russ ive been informed that i need an Ilok to demo this product. This reminds me of Steinberg. I had to go to my local music store (which isn't local) to try Cubase. Isn't there a user friendly way of trying this? i realise that Slate Digital are protecting their hard work but I can't try it so won't be buying it
