Oh my Claire...BRAVO, truly hats off to you. I know how I get with sparse instructions and I think you did FABULOUS, I would have chucked it - LOL! All of your adjustments seemed to work really well, even if you were winging it, heck that's how we learn right, especially when you are under a time constraint and don't have a ton of time for research and reading books. Great review Claire! I'll go check out Laura's video as well.

Oh, my, Claire.... "not exactly the height of fashion "... 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I nearly spat my coffee! You are such a delight! Loved your review. I have the opposite problem- I'm hourglass silhouette, with a few extra hours, and my shoulders are broad. I bet I would have to leave in what you took out. But... I have so many other jacket patterns in my possession, it will be awhile before I look to this one. But I do love those style lines..... 😍😁

Great vlog Claire! I picked up a couple of StylrArc patters in the Amazon sale but because of the lack of instructions and my own inexperience I haven’t made them yet! However, I am going to give them a go! The first one is gonna be The Sydney designer dress, so will let you know 😁😁😁❤️

I never made a Style Arc even though I could probably get the paper patterns sent here, but tbh I know this jacket is beyond me. I really like your jacket though and especially the yellow topstitching! Even I find the shoulders often a bit big so very useful to see your strategy in dealing with that. Thats for the fitting deets 😀

Hey Bev, I found your comment in the spam folder! Its all good now! I honestly dont think this jacket is beyond you. The techniques in themselves are not difficult, its just it takes a while to complete. Having seen some of your makes recently you are very capable :-) Thank you for your kind compliments glad you liked the video.

Another great video! After making the style arc Sage pants (and I'm a beginner) I am keen to try more of their patterns, the instructions were as sparse as you described but I found them straightforward compared to the Big Four. I did watch the tutorials first though 😁. Love this jacket.

@@Penguinandpear definitely. Well, definitely pants 😆. The bengaline is great (I bought their bundle that included pattern and fabric), I call these my restaurant pants because they're so nice and stretchy 😆😁😄. After seeing the specky seanstress's video though I'm cautious about trying a construction I haven't attempted before - my other thought is that if I get stuck I'll contact them by phone or message them for help.

Great jacket Claire 👍I like the idea of a more shapely fit. I’ve made the style arc Blaire dress and top instead of the kali dress and blouse so many people make. I liked the style details; very interesting pockets on the dress that double as modesty panels on the shirt style hem and a double layer on the blouse again for modesty. Both went together easily, but I did have to copy the instructions so that I could read them better as the print was so small. The only changes I made was to lengthen the bodice as the join line was emphasising my big boobs and I put a pleat in the centre back in order to fit the collar. I’ll be very interested to hear how you get on with your style arc makes 😊 love B 🐝 xxx

Great review, as always. Great tip on the bicep adjustment and cuff bit! If you were only going to make one jeans jacket would you choose the Audrey or the Stacie?
@Penguinandpear
@Penguinandpear 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Cat! It's a hard question to answer because they both have their pros and cons! I think I might try another pattern.. I preferred the instructions of the Audrey but the fit of the stacie. That said I think the fit needed further tweaking. If you would force me to chose I'd say Stacie!
@catreid1019
@catreid1019 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! That helps me narrow it down some - I do like the style of fit on the Stacie better, I’m only 5’1 so I’m afraid a big boxy jacket would be overwhelming.

Made a Stylearc oversize caridgan with a hood as a test in sweatshirting. The width of thesleeve was way too tight, if you wore a short sleeve tee shirt underneath the imprint was on the outer garment. Lot of reviews stating the same thing in most knits. Instruction sparse no mention of knit interfacing for the neck and front band for structure, hood lining had too be sewn in differently to their instructions too stop it looking homemade. Stylearc have some wonderful designs but I do question how they grade from size 18 up.

Interesting review thanks for sharing. I do think their bicep girth is on the small side. My jacket would have been tight in the arms without an adjustment

@@Penguinandpear Remembered it was the Stylearc Hiede Cardigan/hoody it is an alteration that I rarely make on a plus size pattern. If you were wearing it as a tee shirt it would of been fine. Have a good week.
