Your third make is the best fit. There is not wrinkles in the seat and the front is nice and even. I think that if it had pockets; back and possible front it would give it that office look (if you know what I mean!). Love the blue top you are wearing, looks so comfy😀

Yes, the 3rd pair is definitely the one! It’s really funny because the back pockets made that pattern inappropriate for the office for me. Just too casual. I love the clean “pocketless” look for the office. 💞

Hi Izzy, Loved your pattern review. I was sent here by Carole… I was inspired to make these by Whitney and made my first pair last week. I’m very narrow in the hips and found them a great fit, I just needed to size up on the elastic. I love the cuff and the shape of the pants. Your last pair look great! Great collab. 🚴‍♀️🐝

Thank you so much for visiting Clare! I agree - the shape of the Parkers is really good and exactly my style in terms of width of the leg. And they come together so quickly! 💞

That was such an honest, fantastic review of the pattern. Can't believe you actually said 'wedgie' 😂. You really went through the mill altering it. I love the burgundy pair on you, I also like the black and white but if they aren't comfy then that defeats the point of Ponte trousers 😂. Thanks so much for the collab, really loved doing it with you. Let's definitely do it again... but not a Style Arc 😂. ❤xx❤

Yes - let’s do this again! Maybe doing a Big 4 pattern together? I don’t have many and I never get them for $1.99, but I’m going to keep an eye out for one I could attempt. Maybe one with bust cups so I don’t have to do a dreaded FBA. 😂 xx 💞

very useful review. If you're still in search of the perfect ponte pant pattern I would recommend Sinclair patterns Sunset knit lounge pants. Don't be put off by the pattern picture, made up in a good ponte and without the waist drawstring they're a boot cut and smart enough to wear out and about.

Glad you enjoyed it! It’s not patience really. I have yet to find a pants pattern that doesn’t need me to make that adjustment. Now I know I’m going to need to do it on every single pattern and that’s ok. Some people have to do a FBA on every single pattern. I refuse to do that. I only buy patterns that offer bust cups. 💞

Hi Izzy. I applaud your persistence in getting the fit right for your pants. The burgundy pair look lovely on you and seem office-appropriate to me. Have you considered making the Love Notion’s Duet pants? They might be more what you are looking for as office pants and can be made with wovens or knits.

I agree that the burgundy pair look very nice on you. I was having issues with several patterns for pants until I made Sinclair Poppy pants. They come in Petite, regular and long (I think). I’m 4’10” and needed the petite. I didn’t have to make any adjustments to that pattern. I’ll be making more of that pattern for sure. Thanks for your detailed review. Barb from Buffalo😊

Excellent review of this pattern, Izzy!!!!!!!!! I have the SAME body shape that you do, the same tummy and bum. Your your pattern adjustments for the back and inseam crotch areas were so very, very helpful. On Carole's channel comments, I mentioned that this pattern was on my Wish List to purchase at some point, but will now have to re-consider after watching both of your colab video reviews. I prefer the high-waisted, boot leg pant style (I'm a 1970's teen), and want front pockets. I don't mind making some pattern adjustments, but to buy a pattern to completely modify it isn't what I really should have to do. It's like buying a new car, then sending it to a body shop to modify the look of it. Makes one ask: Why not buy a pattern closer to what you want to begin with? Hmmmm... I do so appreciate your and Carole's honest and complete pattern reviews. THANK YOU BOTH! I'm going to have to give this pattern some serious thought, whether it should remain on my Wish List. ❤
@dizzyquiltsandsews
@dizzyquiltsandsews 11 ай бұрын
I completely agree with you on pattern adjustments. I feel like if I need to make a million adjustments to make the pattern fit my style, then it’s not worth it. There are some adjustments that I’m more than willing to make (such as the low seat) because I’ve not found a single pattern that doesn’t need this adjustment for my bum. But I don’t buy patterns that would require me to do a FBA, especially indie patterns. They are expensive enough, I want some basic fit options available. 💞

Your thought process in getting a good fit was very helpful. Thank you. Been a long time since I’ve sewn a pair of pants. I’m looking at Closet Core Pietra or Mitchell trousers.

@dizzyquiltsandsews 11 ай бұрын
You’re welcome! I tried the Pietra a couple of times, but just couldn’t get them to work for me. The rise was ridiculously long on me and with all those pieces (the pockets are really funky on that pattern), I just got lost in the adjustments I would need to make. I’ve not tried the Mitchell but I have the Cashmerette Meriam trousers that look very similar. 😊

(so far I've attempted PJ shorts and legging type shorts, now for the stuff I can wear out of the house!) I admire your perseverance with these pants, I would have given up after reading those tiny instructions!!!🤣 In the end they look amazing on you, and I think they look more like what my mom would call "slacks" (so ok to wear to work?) 🥰-Mary

Thank goodness for Whitney’s tutorial - she really has a ton of tips and tricks and almost never follows the pattern instructions because she’s so experienced. Once you figure out what your body needs in terms of adjustments, sewing pants really is very easy. After wearing my burgundy pair for a whole day and looking back at the pictures, I really do like them a lot. They do look “dressy” enough for work and are sooooo comfy! I think I might make another pair in navy. 💞

Your commitment to making this pattern work is amazing! I loved hearing about the knock knee adjustment because I’d never heard of that until you mentioned it in one of your Friday sews (I think?) recently. This pattern definitely walks a fine line between yoga pants and dressy pants. I was considering it when you and Carole started talking about the collab, because I have some ponte I’d like to play around with, but after watching both of your videos I don’t think this is the right fit. With my lifestyle (aka not an office job) and most of the tops in my wardrobe it would 100% look like I just had leggings on. A great pair of leggings! But still….leggings, and I’m trying to wear less athleisure 😂 Wonderful, honest review! Thank you!!

I’m so glad this was helpful. My last pair feels a lot less like leggings, but I totally see what you mean. I really want to make some “real” trousers at some point and I thought the Uplands were going to be it for me, but those did NOT work out at all so back to the drawing board. Meanwhile though, I have these burgundy ponte pants that are somewhat office appropriate. 💞

The good news is that I can do that adjustment on almost any pants pattern now. I found that it really doesn’t matter what the pattern is, I need to “scoop” and extend the crotch for them to fit me well enough. Xx 💞

I love my Parker Pontes. I used a heavy ponte from Minerva and I think they look quite smart and are super comfortable. Hi Valerie! What I love about Whitney’s sewalongs is that she often deviates from the pattern instructions to make things a little bit easier or better. I really appreciated being able to sew along with her when I made my first version. I really do like the final version and will probably make more because they are so comfortable. I was looking at the Minerva ponte the other day. How is the quality? Does it still look good after a few washes? 💞

Nice review and the burgundy pants look great on you. I have made Style Arc pants and actually was able to sew them together quite quickly and I’m not a super experienced sewer (sewist).
