@heyitsme Thanks for your question! After a fair bit of driving I've not noticed any body roll in Comfort Mode. The real difference is things like quick bumps in the road are minimized. It's still a very capable car no matter what mode it's in!

Nice review, although it’s hilarious that you make a selling point of this NOT being just an “upgraded Passat”...that’s EXACTLY what it is! It’s really just a sexy variant of the European Passat, which has itself been sold in all other markets since 2014 in its current form (platform, tech, interior)

@sjb2471 In North America the Arteon is based on the new MQB platform, whereas the Passat is not yet on that platform. They may look similar, but for us in North America they're definitely not the same car! I can't speak to the European models however!

White Rock is a suburb of Vancouver. $50k CDN is $38K USD. The Arteon is not my flavor, but doesn’t sound as bad, considering it’s an AWD with hatchback, making it closer to an SUV when it comes to practicality

My friend purchased this car brand new in Australia (comes standard R-line) and he is utterly dissapointed. He got a detailing package for an extra $2k and there are water spots, the interior chemicals they used reacted with the plastics and they are becoming smokey like the analogue clock and headlining lights, there is a buzzing/rattling noise between 2-2.5k rpm, the massage seat is just a tease that one will never use, the centre screen attracts so many finger prints and apple car play maps doesn't integrate with digital cluster. I'm a purist who likes to drive manual cars with physical handbrake, this car just felt less mechanical and more electronics that will somehow fail causing all sorts of problems. Give me a 1997 twin turbo supra anyday over this.

All VW’s in American are built to different specifications, even the golf has different parts, noticeably even the interior mirror want the same, it’s frameless here but there it’s some older gen from the mark 6 I believe or even older maybe. It’s probably to fit with their pricing strategy, American’s moan as it is with the cost of VW’s little do they realise that the A5 costs the same as the Arteon

Hmmmm... R Line level and no peanut butter seats, no touch of two-tone interior, interior looks like a base model passat. Now I do like the digital dash, but they could've done upscaling with the face because It resembles the 2013 Audi A7. Rear is more taller due to the hatch design, so you lose that sleek body slope towards the rear. Now however, I do like the foot opening trunk mechanism. Overall rate? Strong 7.5/10 👍🏾

The top engine actually has quad pipes visible through the bumper trim and it has valves that open in sports mode. You can see the valves if you look down the outer pipes.

I completely disagree re rear head room - I'm only 6', and my head touches the roof if I let my head go back on to the headrest. My friend (who is 6'3 like you) said he hurt his head when getting in, too.

No other market gets a V6. In fact, other markets outside of the U.S./Canada can have substantially less powerful engines. True, other markets get a selection of diesel engines, but that's about the only other choice. I think it would be nice as well if they offered the V6, but since the fall out of the diesel debacle here, I don't VW is wanting to flaunt performance as much as they used to.

You havr to remember Scotty's main audience is people with an income less than 100k per year. Basically buying a car on a budget is the only mode he's in. He forgets about the people that worked hard, and can afford any car they want, and our 100% prepared for proper maintenance and repairs. So in that aspect, I agree with him. Literally hopped on this video as sooon as I seen this VW. I just passed a A5 the yesterday and I'm like bro VW isnt coming up with any new fresh designs. Even down to the atlas and the Q8. It's like your giving us the models we want(Audi) and then saying here take this car, the most stripped down basic blah design form of whatever Audi u want. I'm 35 so to see VW still trying to buy in the American market shows resilencey. I really think they needed this dople ganger A5 car to add to a very basic line up. When I see ppl drive VW they never look super thrilled or like look at me I'm in a VW...If u drive every day you'll see ppl even whip Subaru legacys with the 3.5v6 racy all the time. Why? Cause the car provides performance. Not just talk like it like VW

You realise that VW is the cheaper brand right? And owners don’t buy cars based on performance. Their biggest markets ie Europe will have this car with under 200hp anyway. Same with a 5 series or A6. Realise that North America is not worth having its own engines for. It’s designed for Europeans, the same folks who are fine with 100hp, not sure why you need all this power really, toque is what matters and it’s the same reason a 75hp car is just as good in real world conditions as a 150

You know very little about this car. It’s to compete with the A5 mainly, it’s at that price point but is more attractive thanks to the standard equipment, it has stuff that not even an S Class has as standard, pretty much autonomous to a Tesla standard also. It’s not anywhere near an A7, don’t know why that got mentioned, it’s more comparable to an A5 but the size Is increased so it could sway people from buying an A6. Its a VW, European design buddy, it’s simple and works. Anyone that owns one can operate anything on it without looking. It’s simple and that’s why the VW Golf is so popular, best seller in Europe. It has the latest tech, the discover pro is one of the best in the industry also so I’m at odds. I’m happy with VW interiors and I have very much had experience with many premium ones also. If you want it to look all futuristic then get an Audi but take it from me, the new dual MMi set up is crappy. The 7 series is the perfect interior with the perfect mix of modern technology and older. Ie don’t replace everything with screens. KIA isn’t comparable, awful caes
