I bought one a couple of days ago. As I have severe arthritis in my hands but love cooking, sharp knives are a must. I have a drawer full of gadgets but this one really works - easily. It took me a while to get an edge on my most used, bluntest knife. I've sharpened everything -boning knife, filleting knife, steak knife and my serated bread knife. Yes, it is noisy! It was the fact that I could replace the blades eventually that really sold it to me. I've now got scarily sharp knives now - I love it

Youre putting waaaay too much weight on the knife, you arent supposed to put pressure on the knife as it will shred it
@abdelazizsqualli1004 Жыл бұрын
I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm kzbin.infoUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

Thanks for this video. My dyspraxics hands really struggle learning traditional sharpening. But, I wasn’t exactly in a rush to run my knifes through a cheap little contraption that might damage them. At least I know now it’ll do a passable job.
@CanISharpen4 жыл бұрын
for what its worth, I still use this on my cheaper knives for a quick fix. I do use far less pressure now that what I did in the video, basically the weight of the knife is enough. hope that helps.

There are many different branded versions of this device and all are from China. As it happens I had two branded as Jervis Walker from Australia and the suction cups did not work until I disassembled them to figure out a fix and then made room with a file to insert a washer to increase the throw of the suction plunger. The other one I have which is branded something else, I now see has a metal plate that serves that purpose and so I guess I just got a couple of a bad batch with no quality control and so the parts were missed out. Other than that, I think they are great as long as you draw the blade through vertically and at 90 degrees to the blades - in line with the guide - and apply some downward pressure but do not go mad.
