That is so awesome! Thank you for the tour! I still have letters written in the 1800s from family in Cork County Ireland that they wrote to our family here in Ga. Before that family moved to Ireland they were originally from just North of there but south of Glasgow. So it's really cool to see all of those places where we came from. This is our home now but we still feel very much a kinship to you guys!

Loved having a nosy around this hotel Alan! Really different enjoyable video😊👍. We have often driven past this hotel and have always wondered what it's like inside! We took Pete's mum for afternoon tea at the L'odore hotel up the road from this a couple of years ago, was so lovely, some really lovely hotels in that area. Wow what a stunning room,such lovely views,and i love the sofa and the end of the bed,wow 40 rooms looks like a tardis tiny on the outside and massive on the inside .boy what a stunning place.i wouldnt eat pigeon,proberly eat a seagull thoo as they get on my nerves here so much,but the apple crumble is my fav afters,this is makeing me hungry watching this!!.Love winston churchill ,love the wallpaper map.This review was very well done,abit quite i had put tv volume really high.To me what makes a hotel is the staff,i have left hotels before if people are rude.this is yet another place for me to visit.Loved this all i would say maybe price? have a lovely weekend and stay safe debs.x i be away from the uk soon,so if not commenting,i will when get back x

Well done Alan on a great review. It certainly helped to have that glamorous model strolling through the various areas. No dogs should EVER be allowed in hotels such as this one. £1000 a year dog license for all bloody dog owners! Weddings, another complete waste of money, just live together and enjoy life. We both love dogs but Mrs Metalman has got a nose like a bloodhound and we have stopped in dog friendly rooms before where the room was great but you could smell doggie as soon as you went in. To be honest, it was real fresh when we went in to our room, so the cleaning and the service were both top notch, so we will be stopping here again. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Looked spot on in their mate, room was fantastic, didn't expect it to be as good as it was, this is my girlfriends favourite part of the lakes, some amazing hikes around that area, btw the wallpaper with the map was class. great review Al 👌

Good day to you Alan, nice review there, looks a nice hotel to be fair. We have just extended our stay in June as we stay a week at Hillcroft in a lodge but we have just booked another 3 nights after the lodge at the Haweswater Hotel, looks very nice and reasonably priced, if you dont mind staying there and doing me a review 😀 I'm sure Mrs metal man will enjoy another stay 😀. Did look at the inn on the lake but in June its quite expensive, thanks for the review and all the best.

Haha thanks Marc and yes Mrs Metalman would be over the moon for another stay away, not sure about my wallet lol. Sounds like a nice stay you got booked but the Inn on the Lake is real expensive in peak times but over Winter and Spring, you can get a canny deal if you book direct on their website. Thought I was watching Cliff Mitchelmore interesting video. I think a lot of the older hotels struggle with heating sometimes think they over look it because you can’t see it 👍👍

Hi Alan, thanks for the video, we have passed this hotel a few times on our travels and never been in so really nice to see what it is like. It looks really nice from what you have shown and you stretched the budget to get Mrs Metalman a lovely room which I am sure she appreciated. Food looked great and looked like you got more for your breakfast here than at the Inn on the Lake which I am sure pleased you. We have stopped at the Ladore Falls hotel up the road a couple of times for a drink and a sandwich at dinner time whilst out and about but blimey that place is expensive to stay. Interesting to hear that you would both prefer to stay at the Barrowdale again above the Inn, whilst the Inn's views at the back are stunning and hard to beat, we would prefer the smaller more personal hotel like you with several little places to sit and enjoy a drink together, a cosier affair to relax in. I think you have a bit of a thing going with these hotel reviews mate, really enjoyable so keep them up if you can. I think all us subscribers should all club together and send you both to one hotel a month and get a review from you, that would be FAB and I am sure Mrs Metalman would enjoy haha. Never stopped at the Ladore falls before but seen it is not that cheap and that is also part of the same chain of 6 hotels. Autumn and Winter they all have deals on, so that's when I look for offers, rest of the year out of my league lol. I would say Mrs. Metalman like staying in these nice hotels, she was always smiling! I like hotels with lots of little spaces and nooks, too; it makes it so cozy. Will this hotel be a candidate for the next anniversary? Sounds like this one might just win out!

Yes, it is a lovely hotel. We go there most years pre Christmas plus go to the festive lunches. Staff have been there some time which helps. I like the "cubby holes" also. It is a bit more oldy worldly compared to the Inn on the Lake which we also enjoy. I agree I prefer this hotel especially on the quieter times.
