Sometimes I feel it would be useful for the manufacturer to provide some information about what exactly was the intention behind the product. There are so many devices on the market, what problem do the others have that this one is trying to fix? Because sometimes it just seems people are creating devices for the sake of it. Here we have a device that seems to have some complexities in its use. It also doesn't lock reliably (as you showed, it can be opened inadvertently, as opposed to the grigri or click-up or other auto-locking belaying device. Why? What gain is there for this massive drawback? Without a serious rationale for it I can't see how this isn't a fatal flaw.

I must say that the manual was in russian. But I translated it and it did not help me understand much more. I agree: I would love to have IceRock's take on the product. "what problem do the others have that this one is trying to fix?" . Also what do IceRock think about how I see the user can inadvertently release the rope. Not very likely but with the highest consequence!! There might be another version of the Gnome coming in the next years? I hope so!! I like that there are many devices that can can do things in a different way: with innovation comes progress!

From what can be found on their website as well as in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWPPfWZ3erekfbM it mainly tries to fix the effort necessary when descending with a high load such as in a rescue. By having a release system that allows releasing of the cam with little effort. As well as a one handed operation for "advanced users"

It would also be great of the manufacturer to actually make it available for purchase. In Europe it's unobtanium.
