My band The Ultra Violets supported them in Cambridge, was a great night! And honestly those boys were amazing with us 🖤

I saw them at the Roundhouse and remember how surprised I was that so many young people had turned up!

i didn't get tickets for the tour as i guessed it would a weird nostalgia thing. It's almost 20 years since i last saw both the Libs or the Shambles, or DPT for that matter in and around Leeds & Sheffield on numerous occasions. We used to take the day off and do an all dayer to get in the mood for it, nowadays i would be stood at the sides or the back, one of us would be driving etc. I imagine there are a lot of my types in that crowd. Funnily enough i was at the shambles gig at the cockpit you were talking to Nick Hodgson about, it was the same day the 1st Babyshambles single was released in April 2004.

Went to the albert hall gig in Manchester the other Saturday. It was pretty lively where I was stood towards the end. However I did start from the side of the venue and it was abit of different vibe. Older people and what not who are probably not wanting as much action.

My mate was at Lincoln on Sunday too and said it was the best he’s seen them, certainly in terms of their playing and the vocals. I’m finally getting to see them for first time since 04 at the Piece Hall next year, can’t wait!

Show and Tell Tuesday... :) I was lucky enough to see them on Brighton beach this year. I was pretty sober at £8 pound a pint... It was a brilliant gig for me, the first time I've seen them live after being a fan for many years and they didn't disappoint. Bonus, The Charlatans played as well. High light for me was winning the guards coat, Tim wore while performing 'Don't look back into the sun" with the band at end. They all signed it as well! P's I look great in it apart from I just don't have the hair... :) :) Cheers!

Pete was wearing a cut-off denim jacket when I saw them; he looked like a proper Hell's Angel.

I saw them in Birmingham in October and had a great night. The crowd down the front was raucous enough to remind me of '02/03/04 era, and I was loaded up enough on rum and (diet) coke to get into it.

Interesting to hear what you thought. I went to their third and final night at the Roundhouse in London. My mate couldn’t make it so my Mum came with me which I was quite surprised at. She’s a casual fan but knows a lot of the Libs songs because of me playing their music growing up. I agree there’s definitely more people at their gigs who seem like casual listeners but generally a very mixed crowd. Lots of teenagers, people in their 60’s but mostly 25-40 I’d say. I’m 29 myself and I was about 7 people deep on Peters side as don’t like being right at the front. Was very lively for a lot of songs and people crowd surfing but that mostly happened front and centre of the audience. Was a great gig and they played for over 2 hours. Would have liked some more interaction with the crowd but they did occasionally have a bit of banter. Personal highlights were barons claw, can’t stand me now, what Katie did and what became of the likely lads. Also Pete mentioned how one of his friends was 16 years clean that day and went on to say that anyone struggling with addictions he wishes them lots of luck. This made me quite emotional as I am an addict myself so found it very uplifting, especially seeing Pete doing so well. Overall a great gig, they played really well and I loved the addition of the string section. Would have liked more songs from “Anthems” but otherwise felt very spoilt with the amount of songs they played.

Saw then in Cambridge and they were incredible I thought and I was surprised because the crowd had a bit of a dynamic of other people my age (about 18) and older bald men in Fred Perry polos. Either way the crowd was electric in a haze of beer and euphoria.

I was there and would agree with you. I've been too many a gig in Lincoln and the crowd is very subdued compared to gigs I've been in Sheffield and Leeds. Gotta also remember they're a nostalgia band for many. The band themselves were great and support we're a great choice too

There were quite a lot of younger folk in the audience for the Manchester show we went to. Pretty much the whole moshpit looked to be teen/student-aged, then all the middle-aged folk like me on the balcony!

Last libs gig I went to was hull Paddington s supporting. One bar ! In the arena so some didn't have the chance to get a 2nd drink so some Moody vibes but good gig one security guy said 'not bothered if u have drugs' to someone, other guard wasn't pleased muttering

Saw them a few times back in the day. Finally saw them for the first time since they reformed a few years ago and I was bored. I think being so "professional" now takes away from what made them great first time around. Yes it was ramshackle back then, but that was what made it exciting too. They played again locally this year but I didn't bother this time. For me, I'm happy to leave them in the past and remember those days fondly rather than try to recreate it with a sanitised version.

Fantastic review my man , saw them in Norwich recently and you defo had better set list as we didn’t have one song off Anthems for doomed youth ! I have seen them several times and couldn’t help to notice how Carl seems to hold them all together, almost like the father of the family , his eyes to Pete, Gary and John seem to keep them all focused and tight ! Really noticed it , looking very professional these days but still my favourite band along with a certain Manc band who are cleaning up the pound notes this summer !!! Long live the Libertines !!!!!!!!!! Cannot wait to see them again next year 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

I was at two of the Manchester gigs and there were younger people there, a mixed crowd. I’m 21 myself, my parents were apart of the original generation of Libs fans and thus I’ve been listening to them for my entire life - I used to ask for the “shoop shoop song” (what Katie did) aged 3 or 4 lmao. My review of the gigs is on Mancunian Matters ✌️

I did all three nights at the roundhouse, this tour is for sure the best they have been professionally speaking... Shame you didn't get to see the new backdrop, it's dynamic and changes slightly for each song. Did you catch the brass section for the song called Barron's claw? The crowd in London was great, up front was chaos but respectful for the barrier crew, who stood their ground respectively... I was all over the shop for each gig, and some bits were more chilled and others bit more mad, I'd say age was ranged between twenty somethings up to sixty somethings... Not too many twats, what I saw.. At least... Security at roundhouse were really friendly and chatty... I had the same drinks pretty much each night and was charged differently each time eg can of red stripe first night was 7.50 next night it was 7 and the last night it was 6.50... And the spirits were astronomical like... I enjoyed every night and each night met loads of great people and had tons of conversations with randoms.... Pretty sure Peter was singing right at me at one point but probably not... Love your videos

I’m in the states so I’ve never seen them. If it’s anything like here, concerts even at midsize venues are expensive! Tickets, parking, $10 for a crappy drink.. hard to get rowdy without spending a fortune! Plus i imagine many of their fans need babysitters and have work the next day! I think with age and sobriety, the band has become more professional and less of a ramshackle affair. I do wish I had seen them back in like, 2014, but plane tickets are also quite expensive! On another note, as a 36 year old, I take a bit of umbrage with you calling a 46yo (Carl) and a 45yo (Pete) nearly 50!!!! They honestly are not that old!

Interested to hear what you think of their new music? Not so good. I think Barat is inclined to make songs a bit more cheesy/theatrical. Thought babyshambles were heading in a better direction than the new libs stuff.
@22grandpodАй бұрын
Yeah as I said it's a bit radio 2 and wasn't particularly fussed when it came out but appreciated it more seeing them live. Definitely something theatrical to them now yeah. It's like watching libertines the musical.
