Review of Vance & Hines Mini Grenades! INSANE! Harley-Davidson Iron 883

the vance and hines grenades sound absolutely incredible especially echoing against the beautiful walls of uppingham town. what do you think of the pipes? We think they are probably one of the best options for any of you sporster riders out there, they're deep and LOUD. Not the loudest pipes available but they are certainly up there.

I have Python 2.5 slip-on mufflers on my 2011 XL883N, I installed them in 2012 and 11 years later they are still on it. In 2019 the Pythons were starting to look old and tired, I had them powder coated in satin black and they still look great in 2023. The Python's aren't too loud, buy they make people aware of my presence.

I was in the showroom yesterday and got some amazing advice from all the staff (incl Darcy). They all recommended I take the Iron as my first due to the heavy insurance costs on the bigger ones for new riders. Darcy told me it was this one you guys reviewed. It has been modded significantly since. I decided to buy it for various reasons so it’s mine now😁 Looking forward to passing the driving parts in a few months so I can get going on it.

In the late summer Im planning to add a 4.5 gallon tank (probably from the 1200 Custom) with a special tank graffic Ill have painted on, and the 1275 Hammer Performance kit on it. Im also planning to buy my own camera gear and shoot vids for myself. I could review it myself, but Im not really too bothered about all this online content stuff. Ill offer you guys to review it then if you want. Im sure because it’s a popular bike at the same time, it will help out your channel, which Im happy to support.

I think that the grenades sound slightly deeper, but short shots may be fractionally louder, I used to have a 48 with short shots and they sounded pretty good, though the Harley dealer says they don’t run great with short shots

the Grenades sound a bit deeper. Short shots are loud and give a more distinctive pop pop between each cylinder firing. Both about same loudness. Short shots are perhaps a little more shouty.

Rough crafts are in your face loud and deep! The grenades aren’t as loud but they have a nice tone to them. I will make a little compilation comparison between the two pipes soon!

Technically no, but nobody ever seems to get stopped for it, at least not in the rural areas. I think Cambridge have started monitoring it to make some cash for the gov, but every Harley I know sounds loud.

Greg Burgess defo prefer the Vance and Hines personally as they are louder but if you prefer a more subtle but deep tone you’ll prefer the cobras

Do these make the exhaust smell stronger? I think i have s leak in my grenades. They discolored where the o2 sensor is but i cant feel sny leaks. Get a lot of decel pop as well

#MrDarcy&theOl'Man Love that sound ! Which of the following three would you recommend for my 2020 Harley Lowr rider S : Twin slash Eliminator 300 Mini Grenades ??? One thing I notoced is that with the mini grenades the passenger peg would be just about where the mini grenades exhaust expels. Wonder if that burn up a passenger's foot ? P.S.: yes i watched your YT video on all three but I am simply asking for your personal opinon on which one you would reccommend. By the way, I am having Viking saddle bags installed on my HLRS and thr dealer is telling me that the Harley Hold Fast sissy bar will not work with the Viking Bags. Been searching the net but cannot find a sissy bar/rear rack anywhere that will work with the Viking Bags. Yeah, Iknow. but I already bought and have installed the V Bags so not using them is not an option. I reallly do not want a extremely tall sissy bar. Just one tall enough to be able to use with a sissy bar over night/weekend bag. Anything thing you can do to help/suggest would be appreciated.

Id say Twin Slash if you want sharp and deep sound and Eliminator 300 if you want more blowy sound with more noise on overrun. Short pipes definitely not recommended

It's not too bad. It's bigger than a lot of other makes, and bigger than the Harley 48. I'm 6'3" and found it OK. Obviously, a softail with forward controls would be more roomy.

@@MrDarcy-OlMan Yeah, to me it seems to run a bit unevenly at low revs and light throttle, I'd do a plug chop after some steady riding to try and see if it's a rich or a lean fuelling issue, makes a great rumble from those V+H cans though and hey that's what these bikes are all about!
