im a newbie rider. as in im just starting to get into it, and i was planning on getting this as my first bike, which would also probably one of the first bikes ive ridden as i just got my licence. so yeah i thought this would be a good bike to start off on as i like HD and cruisers.

What's up with the bikes exhaust note? I sure hope they sound better with an aftermarket exhaust.

a careful review on a bike the guy clearly doesn't like, no comments on the engine or handling, just that it looks cool, kinda, and maybe if you change a bunch of parts and the paint job you could have something you might kinda like )

Would not even consider buying this bike. Instead of developing this 750, Harley should have increased the Sportster to 1340 cc. Super-size the Sportster. Now THAT would be something I would buy!

Best thing to do with a Sportster is buy a 883 and build a 1250. Plenty of power to be made with that motor and this opens up doors.

Thing is..., 1250 is too close to the factory 1200. Now, if there were a factory Sportster 1340cc, let the aftermarket do its thing and I'm certain the bike would be a hit.

Test ride. Test RIDE. Not drive. You drive a cage, you ride a bike.

This bike is manufactured in India. Didn't like the bike at all...the size ...the tyres...the whole profile is not expected out of a Harley Davidson Bike. It looks similar to a Kawasaki Eliminator 125cc to 250cc. I was expecting a bike of the size of a Suzuki Intruder 800..as available in India with much wider tyres. I had seen the pics and the specs. on the internet. I waited for months for March 1st when the bike was supposed to be put for display and bookings in Indian showrooms. I had my reservations as to how the bike will look like after seeing the pics...the moment I saw it in real I was totally disappointed. I still can't comment on its performance...as I have not ridden one ...... It may be ground breaking as compared to other Harley bikes..but in the modern day world..there is nothing special about it that I should have it in my garage. These are just my personal views.

SAD that there's no ABS available. This is primarily for the ROADS where unpredictability is the name of the game. Harley has to give a finger up to everyone in every bike it makes. irritating.
@wozza5910 жыл бұрын
Harley will have to fit ABS soon whether they like it or not, because it becomes compulsory in Europe from 2016.
@ripmax33310 жыл бұрын
wozza59 i thought this would be good for the A2 License in europe, but with over 50 bhp i think it will not do, shame because it would attract more customers . and yes, they should introduce ABS
@wozza5910 жыл бұрын
ripmax333 Don't forget there is a 500cc version which would fit into the A2 licence category, but I don't think it's going to be imported in Europe.

i read somewhere that the 500 will be available only in the States and they are going to be used mainly for motorcycle riding schools

I bet like all harleys its still over priced and under powered and handles like a boat..... I will stick with the japa's ...fast reliable comfortable and they go round corners without scraping shit on the ground and the price means you get lotsa bang for your buck, ..... i know where my money would be going and it sure aint on this or any other harley.

Well actually when the Japanese copy us it isn't as magical as you make it seem. Compare the Yamaha Bolt vs the 883 Sportster. Just so you know the Bolt is a direct knockoff of the Sportster. Yamaha has an extra 60cc, but only makes an extra 1-2 HP and 3-4 TQ. It also cost the same. Comfort is debatable so I won't go into that. Also Harley makes super reliable vehicles, if you didn't know that you must not know anything about motorcycles. Seems like the whole thing about Harley making overpriced and underpowered vehicles fell apart pretty quick. Touching back on the topic of overpriced vehicles. The funny thing is you can get a new Harley for around 15k. You can also get a new ZX10R, Busa, or R1 for that price. Then go and check out how much a 10 year old bike like that is worth and then go see how the Harley's resale value is holding up. Winter time I seen so many 2006+ 1000cc super bikes for sale in the 4-7k price range. The Harley's maintained their value a lot better being around 9k+ for bikes with the same starting MSRP as those sport bikes when they were originally produced.

nomellocreampig I guess harleys are ok if you live in the states and run on interstate highways a lot .... for New Zealand you need a bike that will go round corners because thats all we have . As for reliable my brother just brought a 1200 sportster , one owner with 25000km on the clock or about 15000miles within the first week he had to replace the clutch ..... week 3 the engine blew (not sure what happened there ) but it just shit it's self on a 60mile ride into town... he's had enough and went and brought back his old VTR with 80k on the clock and he couldnt even give away the harley. $8000 down the drain..... I see so many harleys on a certain auction site here in NZ with bikes with only 40000km on the clock saying the engine has been fully rebuilt.... are you freekin kidding me 40000km thats crazy. Sorry but i will stick to my jap bikes..... I sold a 2002 SV650 with over 300000km on the clock , i owned it from new and the engine never had any major issues except for normal maintainance and a new clutch and a carby kit. Harleys have a long way to go before i would buy one ..... in saying that i would love a buell CR1125 .... not one with a harley engine in it though lol. Each to there own i guess and if Harley is what you like then buy one ..... Ride Safe
