I'm so happy to get mine this week, I purchased two JBL710 for my DJ setup so that I can go mobile of needed. and I might get a sub woofer too, but I'm waiting to get these in first, maybe get another paycheck too lol. Pro tip on purchasing these. If you are spending some $$ at first center on other items like I was, their sales team will knock these down to $399. So I got pair for a total of $798 for the pair and they threw in stands and cables at no cost. This was on top of spending $2300+ on a XDJ-XZ standalone DJ controller. But just know they have wiggle room on the JBLs. I love your reviews. They are thorough. Thanks!

QSC = Plug and Play vs JBL More of a learning curve, setting up Apps, menu diving, getting the right gain structure. For a live situation QSC is much faster. JBL much more flexible and Firmware updates in the future might add even more ability??

Thank you very much for your detailed review! However I‘d like to add something regarding max. volume: To measure max. volume you need to measure SPL and distortion. If you can‘t measure distortion with your equipment you need to trust your ears. If you only compare limit-indicators you only compare the limiter-settings on both speakers. Some manufacturers warn you earlier, some later. Some limiters work softer, some harder. As owner of a few EON-speakers I can guarantee, that they are able to perform great even above 102dB.
@WWeiss-nv5vz Жыл бұрын
You are 100% correct! Each manufacture is different. Red limit light gets me paranoid and I turn it to green even though I hear no audible distortion.

been watching you for months, thank you so much for all the reviews. If I want the loudest one I can use at the beach, get some sand on it, maybe a drink spilled on it, but want the loudest system with bass. What is the best system? Is it just the Bose S1 Pro with sub1 or sub2? JBL 310? I want to also use it as a PA system. have you used two sub1 in cardioid mode yet? still haven't seen anyone do that yet. supposedly increases dB in front and reduced in rear.
@WWeiss-nv5vz2 жыл бұрын
Many factors you haven't mentioned: Total money willing to spend, max number of people performing for, A/C or battery power, max weight willing to carry per speaker? My second Sub1 was sold so never got to use it in cardioid mode. Bose S1 Pro is not what I would perform with in front of an audience. At the beach maybe 30-40 max people. Sub1 or Sub2 will add some great bass but it will not be any louder. A pair of JBL 310s on poles away from the sand, would have decent bass and be the only choice that has some water resistance.
@PeterPham2 жыл бұрын
Budget is under 2k up to 3k. Want something definitely that would survive sand although would be careful putting it in a moving blanket etc. Didn't realize two 310s would be enough volume. I liked the Bose l16 wide dispersion, but not sure it's enough bass. I already have a ecoflow max so don't need internal battery. That's definitely a bonus when I just want 1 speaker though. What is the best portable mixer ? I might get the dji mic for events where there's a speaker. And what's the lightest weight speaker stand ? Thank you! I'm optimizing for weight and size as carrying 100yds across sand is terrible. I really would like cardioid mode because we get sound complaints from the houses on the beach when we play music too loud as the bass carried backwards to them. Have you seen the QSC KS212C sub? That has cardioid. But it's 2k alone for that sub.
@WWeiss-nv5vz2 жыл бұрын
@@PeterPham Two PB 310s outside might be good for 50 people?? Only speaker with water resistance and it has a rubber flap to keep sand out of the electronics. You liked the Bose Pro16. Why don't you match it up with a Bose Sub2 for the extra bass? QSC KS212 would be too heavy in my opinion. Best portable mixer - Mackie ProFX10. I don't go with light weight speaker stands especially outside. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TS90B--ultimate-support-ts-90b?main_web_category_rollup=3/35/443/444&mrkgadid=3280890863&mrkgcl=28&mrkgen=gpla&mrkgbflag=0&mrkgcat=livesound&lighting&acctid=21700000001645388&dskeywordid=92700046934980874&lid=92700046934980874&ds_s_kwgid=58700005283820789&ds_s_inventory_feed_id=97700000007215323&dsproductgroupid=424552998220&product_id=TS90B&prodctry=US&prodlang=en&channel=online&storeid=&device=c&network=g&matchtype=&adpos=largenumber&locationid=9031179&creative=226299461198&targetid=aud-308617206236:pla-424552998220&campaignid=953755110&awsearchcpc=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwu5yYBhAjEiwAKXk_eN7V7f7q5kTAl9JsIX0xMKhh4bufFAZhO9lVbhEDY_b7zRteMVxJbhoCKZUQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Another system to look at: Two QSC K8.2's $850 each with a Sub2. @@WWeiss-nv5vz wrong choice! All those are not suitable for such harsh environment! pb300 even pb1000 will fail outdoors! These are home audio equipment! Tell him to get some RCF passive units.. some of them are weather resistant! Fits perfectly for his application. “If the signal from the sound source is too high and your amplifier isn’t designed to handle such high voltage signals, it can clip the signals. It simply distorts the signal and reduces the quality of the sound.” I found this online, and it says it could damage the cone. I remember I connected Bose line out to jbl input and I couldn’t get jbl loud enough and I put on the gains in setting to the level I wanted. Jbl input orange light and red light came up while singing but the speaker wasn’t that loud at all, so I didn’t care the clip signal from the input… humm did I just damage the cone…
@WWeiss-nv5vz2 жыл бұрын
No you didn't damage the speaker. JBL Tech has said to me if it doesn't sound like it is clipping with distortion than it isn't clipping. On the other hand when I see the red clipping light I back it off. Playing too long in the red can fry the voice coil. You are right signal from mixer should not be too hot. Using mixer set at unity, using my phone I always back it off one or two clicks from maximum. Lining out from the Bose to JBL, I set the JBL710 Main out at -4dB, into CH1 0dB or -2. From the Bose make sure to use a balanced TRS or 1/4" TRS to XLR cable. Using a regular TS guitar cable will give you -6dB less gain to the chained speaker. S1 Pro should be at 12:00 or until you see red clipping. You need a strong signal from the S1Pro to get full gain from the JBL. Proper gain staging is tricky and super important.

QSC is like... Look at know what EQ settings are best, no EQ for you. But I think with that extra 8db, I probably would not be too concerned, as well I would be running them through a mixer anyways that has an overall master EQ. But I won't be running them 😆 because I bought the JBLs.

Hi Bill, I returned my Eon 710. I’m now thinking to get the cp8. According to your other video, the sound profile of the s1pro is similar to cp8, does that mean if I line out directly from s1pro to cp8 xlr input these two will sound very similar? The reason I’m asking is because when I line out from s1pro to eon710 my mic sounds different between the two ( because it replies on the mixer on s1pro) so it’s either too much bass/treble on eon or the s1pro. When it sounds perfect on s1pro, and I line out to eon 710, eon doesn’t sound good. Vice versa . Do you think this problem will be solved if I line out to cp8?
@WWeiss-nv5vz2 жыл бұрын
Not sure, I never tried it. What I noticed was at lower volumes say 85dB and below they sounded very similar. Once you get to the higher volumes the S1Pro is left in the dust. Too bad the 710 didn't work out, but nothing like bringing it home and letting your ears be the judge. I think I told you before, make sure to use a TRS balanced cable lining out from the Bose. I'm assuming you are lining out from the Bose to retain the reverb??

Well I was curious so I just tried it. I used Bluetooth audio since my microphone is packed away. Bose gain at 12:00, QSC CP8 at 10:00. They blended perfectly! In the future you can line out to a sub like the Bose Sub1 from the CP8, will be a perfect micro system!
