Nice video, even though I don't own any of the Scaletrains NS heritage ES44's yet, I would love to get the Conrail, Nickel Plate, Pennsy & Lehigh Valley ones someday.

Those are also great choices! One day I hope to pick up some more or even the entire set, but I'm holding off for other higher priority locomotives for now. Love the NS-specific details on these, for some reason the nose headlight recess looks really neat to me

Thanks! Definitely check hobby shops first for the Southern, they may have some extras that weren't preorders (they may not have received their shipment yet from SXT so next week for sure) just to avoid paying the premium on ebay

I already have the Southern & Conrail heritage units. They're awesome! I wasn't planning on adding anymore but since Scale Trains released the heritage units again, I'll be adding the Norfolk & Western unit. That blue is rather nice. Still waiting for Athearn Genesis to do the SD70ACe heritage units(Illinois Terminal & New York Central).

That was may original plan too, to just have the Southern and Conrail. I made the "mistake" of looking at the other two at Lombard Hobbies (since they were non sound I had to go direct to SXT) and just couldn't miss those. I wonder when Athearn will get around to those too, especially since they'll now be Genesis 2.0 releases

Got the Intermountain ones when they first came out. No under body details but Details West has parts that make them stand out. I use scrape tinted window sheets for the side windows. Added weight also to increase pulling power. Added Athearns ptc antennas also. Intermountain is said to be doing these in a future run that will be comparable to ScaleTrains. New motors etc.

Cool! I remember seeing some if the Intermountain ones a long while ago at Lombard Hobbies, and they left a bit to be desired but sounds like you've had a good time adding those extra details! Details West has some great products, haven't bought any just yet but I've looked through their stuff and everyone has good things to say about them. I wonder when Intermountain plans to release the new run, as recently they've been a little behind on delivery promises so hoping that does move forward. I only own one ES44 from them, and it had the decoder removed before I bought it, still decided what to put in that one

Good choices! I'd expect another run to deliver no earlier than next winter 2025, since the last run delivered winter 2023 and this is now arriving. Nothing has been officially announced yet

Do they have defect of the previous run where the fronts droop?

The ones I have seem to be alright. I have seen others that have that issue, mostly with the BNSF 25th anniversary ES44s that were in the same run. Waiting to see if more reports from this December 2024 run have the same issue

Southern green looks too dark, may be just the room lighting

I think it's the lighting, my apologies. Looking back through the video the white also seems a little too dull, but the colors look proper in person
