Hey Skall, Ian over on forgotten weapons had a look at the Matrix Armory display system for firearms, but mentioned that it can work for bayonets as well, maybe you could take a look and see if it could work for swords, axes, daggers ect.

If I remember it right Skallagrim should have an email about that already somewhere, assuming the maker of those display systems did what he said in the comments. Skim through the discussions to one of the longer chains of comments, it started with a suggestion that it'd be useful for swords and such as well. The maker responded and people provided a few suggestions (scholagladiatoria, skallagrim, etc), then the maker stated he would send skallagrim an email. But a single email can easily get lost in the pile of other stuff, it was a nifty wall mounting system. Not sure how suitable it would be for his current rental situation though. That's pretty cool. They should probably put some rubber pads in the frame for the glass to keep it from rattling. Little self adhesive foam pads would be enough to cushion it.

Obviously modular, which is nice. Sort of reminiscent of barrister's bookcases.The glass is probably Lexan or plexiglass, which are less breakable than real glass. The case itself looks to be MDF, the shelves would be either glued in or screwed. If glued then a flush cut saw to cut them out, rip to width and reinstall them on cleats. The display panel, remove the hinges, make sure it will fit inside the case and lean it back against the shelves.The doors remain in place.

I'd put a whetstone, leather strop, and a tiny shelf for oil and some wax up on the side there. You could not brace the strop on it but it'd look neat.

skall, i know this is irrelevant to this video but can you answer a question about a shield shaped like a heart for fighting and spearing? something like the shield off the movie troy. a heart shaped shield would have a point to be used as a striking surface and could even be capped with metal. its all in my head as i have never seen anything exactly like what im thinking about. i guess the only thing i can do is build one.

JathTech yes they are very expensive, the minimum in materials alone is $300 and also very functional. A buddy of mine is a journeyman blade smith and works with them. the owner is very narcissistic XD

Take out the red back panel and just inset it deeper. Uou lose the functionality of the hinges, but that's no issue really. You could even take out the shelves and put the red panel all the way in the back if needed.

I highly doubt it. The material looks like plexiglass (acrylic sheets) just look how the window "bends" inwards when he pushes on it with his finger, glass is more rigid and doesnt bend like that which means its very sturdy against any kind of impacts (it bends instead of shattering so it takes the impact no problem)

although i agree with the bit about it being Plexiglas or similar glass bends... it just breaks if you bend it to far... & instantly.

Though considering how this thing is built, you would have to bash/puncture all the way through the cabinet to even shatter/break the panel and considering what's inside the cabinet, it would be be pretty difficult to do. It would be a lot more of a hassle than to steal anything from it than if it was glass and its definitely more affordable than bulletproof grade glass or bulletproof acrylic so its a good material to use for it.

In Australia the only good place ive found to buy swords is www.globalgear.com.au in Victoria. Just wondering if you could take a look and maybe recommend some good swords they have from your point of view, Im not rich and have a wife and two kids so a cheaper one would be better.
