I bought the black version today - the Heritage 8768 - and was amazed to see it sew through 10 layers of quilting cotton without the slightest hesitation just like my collection of old cast iron vintage Singers can do. My $3000 Janome can't do that - it struggles with 3 layers.

I have this machine (Silver Edition) about the same features and I love using it, have had for over a year. Many features!. Did you know that the little niitch on the back of the plate is for cutting your bobbin thread (I read manual again, yesterday!) didn't know this until I watched a tutorial (I think it was Darlene Cahill on HSN show) I might read again, see if something else I need to know!.

Thank you so much. My partner just brought me the heritage version of this machine (pretty much the same machine except in black) and I found this the best easiest to watch video. Now I know what to expect when it arrives :) As this video is now 3 years old. Would be great to hear if it's still working for you. Could you clarify as to how you powered the bobbin winding? One video I have seen shows the threading being done electronically.

I love the way the front slopes down. Looks to be a great and very rare feature. Do you know if the needle raises nice and high. I'm looking at this one as my upgrade from a beginner's machine. After 3 uses I knew it wasn't enough. I'm so afraid to make another purchase mistake. Can this handle several thicknesses, ie; upholstery fabrics, thick bumped triple pleated draperies with heavyweight buckram? Also, how is the vibration qnd noise? As you can tell, I REALLY need advice.

I bought this machine for myself for Christmas. I took my first class yesterday. The instructors tried to help me thread it, but I kept getting the error C6 that it wasn't threaded properly. The instructors had as many problems as I had. We never did get it right... Your video was more help than the manual because the images in the manual are hard to read and the DVD didn't talk about this particular machine at all. I certainly hope that I can figure this out!

Boryana Koseva did you ever figure it out? we are having the same problem with a new machine right out of the box. I have tried to retread about 100 times and still nothing.

Mandi Lortie It took me forever to figure out but it turned out to be the type of thread I was using. As soon as I switched it back to a cotton thread, it worked like a charm. Also, it seemed like thread guide that is located right above the needle is extremely important. Don't skip it. This machine is incredibly sensitive.

Mandi Lortie Generally speaking, sewing machines aren't that sensitive. If you can return it, I suggest you get a different one if you are new to sewing.

I've had the sweing maching myself for over a year I am very new to sewing, and know very little. Do you have any tutoriols out there for this machine ? i'm trying to figure out how to clean it because it has started squeaking and this is somthing someone told me about. to get oil and a cleaning kit which I did and now i'm dumbfounded and trying to figure out what it is i'm cleaning. The book gives a little information but really didnt' see much for cleaning

I bought this machine as a novice 18 months ago on Black Friday. It is the heritage model and as it reminds me of my mother's class singer, I had to have it. But, now I am having issues finding a portable case. Have you been able to find one that fits this machine? BTW, I did sign up for some classes so not only have I finally taken it out of the box, but I am going to do something with it as well. Thanks for the video, very informative.

Yeah I have this machine and the same thing is happening to me. That bottom thread is a hum dinger. What mine does is when I start to sew my bobbin pops out and o course the needle is hitting the shuttle. I have not used it in a while and I have forgotten what I did to correct this problem. Now the shuttle looks like it's chewed up by the needle!

I finally found out that the bobbin case was broken. I believe it was shipped that way. Had to buy a new one and it started to sew 🧵 perfect.

Now that you have had it for a while, How has it held up? I worry about buying newer machines because they rarely have a sturdy chassis that they are built on unless you plan to spend $500+ on it. I have an early 80s bernina, but it's def starting to show it's age and I need a new machine

It's held up nicely! I'm still sewing like crazy, I do a lot of fabric collage purses and *knock on wood* it has not failed me!

Sooooooooo, i got this machine for my birthday (june8th) and I've been playing with it and stuff to learn how to use it. every time i attempt to sew the thread just gets bunched up together, its so irritating because i follow each step to threading the machine/bobbin exact, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. the thread gets all caught up in the bobbin area. Im not used to electronic machines either this is my first one. Before i was using the super old singer machines.
